Experience nature, open spaces, sweeping views, and a dash of stardust at Songbird Story Farmhouse & Garden Tower. Walk or drive the golf cart to the private pond and wooded area. Take a step back in time for your stay in our 1940’s era authentic, fully restored farmhouse including vintage furniture and décor with modern amenities. From romantic stargazing from high atop the garden tower to riding bicycles and roasting marshmallows, we are your perfect getaway for two or for the entire family!
Constructed during the height of World War II, this lovingly restored 1940’s era authentic farmhouse contains modern amenities while maintaining its mid-Americana features. With authentic vintage pieces on display – including a Hoosier cabinet with flour bin, wringer-style washing machine, foot-pedal sewing machine and rotary-dial telephone – time spent at Songbird Story is like visiting grandmother’s house. Prints of early Americana life, an upright piano, coal stove, cedar trunk, dry ice box, vintage dressing table, retro television, and cedar slabs taken from Paint Rock Valley take guests back to farm life of nearly a century ago while making for interesting conversation pieces. Original stonework and pine tongue-in-groove lumber taken from a late 1800’s/early 1900’s community barn are authentic. Using old photographs as a guide, rooms are painted in vintage colors of the era. Guests experience a taste of life from the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Enjoy a glass bottled RC Cola and Moon Pie in this authentic farmhouse now owned by the third generation of the family who first made it their home. Take in the panoramic view of the farm and grounds from high atop the Garden Tower by day while catching some magical stardust by night. Listen to the songbirds under the shade of the pine tongue- and-groove Mockingbird Gazebo by day while roasting marshmallows by the firepit by moonlight. Clip summer flowers to take home while watching the butterflies work their summer magic. View old family photos of the farm. Read tales of the general store and of the perseverance and faith of the family who made this farm their home.
