Loved our stay at Pastel House

It was like staying at a family lake cottage: well-loved, a but rustic, but comfortable and with just enough amenities. For us, perfect, but not for everyone (i.e. people looking for more of a resort-type accommodation. If you are the type who would be put off by mis-matched silverware or glasses this place is not for you.) We especially loved the huge covered deck and spent most of our non-beach time here, enjoying the view, reading, swinging in the hammock. The book shelves are filled with many years worth of beach reads - it was nice to have the time to plow through 2 of them during our stay. There is a good supply of beach chairs and snorkeling equip. We travelled from 30deg temps in new england and so relished the heat and humidity, but we were also grateful to sleep in the air conditioned bedrooms. The location was perfect, really close to town but surrounded by lush bougainvillea. Close to Melones/snorkeling, central to routes to other beaches. Ann, the property manager lives downstairs, but we never really saw her. At the same time she was very accommodating and easy to reach.

Incredible!

Absolutely loved our stay! Perfect location and the views were unreal. Our host was very accommodating and gave great recommendations! The house came with everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach and snorkel. Would highly recommend and can not wait to return!

Amazing view

We have been to Vieques many times but this was our first time at Culebra. Ann was so great with her information and we loved the island. Although we had a car, the houses location allowed us to walk to dinner every night so that was great since parking is tough in town. Highly recommend but remember it is a beach house not high end.

Amazing

I'm a single woman who brought my two boys 13,10, here for 5 days. Anne is a gracious host, I never once in Culebra felt unsafe. The location is perfect. The house is awesome, rustic Caribbean and has everything you will need. If you're looking for a resort vibe, think again. If you want a chill awesome vacation book here.

Wonderful time.

Great view from porch. Comfortble and homey atmosphere. 5 minute walk to Melones beach. About 15 minute walk to Dewey. There were many moments we just hung out on the front porch entranced by the view. And Ann the manager was helpful, available welcoming.

We loved staying at the Pastel House. Easy to get to and perfect view every night at sunset! Ann was super helpful before and when we arrived. We for sure will be coming back and staying here!

Perfect vacation spot!

My 11-year-old son and I stayed at the Pastel House, and we absolutely loved it. First of all, the view of the ocean and Luis Pena was amazing. We loved having breakfast and dinner outside with this view. The house provided everything we needed. Beach equipment such as snorkeling gear, beach chairs/umbrella, cooler, beach towels, etc are particularly useful and they were all in great condition and we used them every day! We also used the grill a lot for preparing dinner outside. The location is also perfect as it is so close to everything - beach, town, and all. What makes this place so special is Ann who is always available to make your stay as comfortable as possible. She communicates clearly and proactively before and during the stay, and respond any questions we had very quickly. She is a very kind and caring person, and we were very happy to get to know her during our stay. We will absolutely love to come back here in the future and we recommend anyone who is looking for a laid back island vacation!

A mixed bag

The location of this property is amazing. Fantastic views of the water, Luis Pena and the ferries coming and going. The one BIG issue we faced the week that we were there was a water shortage. The water cut off every day. Anne ( the property manager) told us about her system of filling up the water jugs underneath the sink. This is what we did so we would have water to clean ourselves when we got home from the beach. Anne explained that there is a cistern but there is no pump so there is no way for the water to get into the house. I don't think this is an acceptable way for a rental property to handle a chronic water problem on Culebra. The owner should provide a better back up system!! ( i.e. install a pump!) I gave "cleanliness of property" a 3 star because we found a dead scorpion the day we moved in. There was a broken tile on the kitchen floor. at the front entrance. we did not enter through that door because we did not want it getting worse. Also, the shower head was attached with a plastic bag.. we didn't use it much ( lack of water) but I don't think this would stand up to water pressure. Some nice touches.. beach chairs and snorkeling equipment, but this place definitely needs some more help before it's ready for prime time rental

Great Week With the Family

We loved Pastel House. The place had tremendous views of the ocean, an open floor plan, and lots of charm. It's classic rustic Caribbean in style and feel---perfect for easing into the day and evening. Melones Beach and fantastic snorkling are only a short walk away. Ann was a great host. We already looking forward to a another visit in the future. Thanks!

Wonderful place

While the pics on VRBO do not accurately reflect the state of the property, it is important to remember that Culebra has recently been hit by a number if major hurricanes. Ann and her friends have done an incredible job recovering from these disasters and created a wonderfully clean and comfortable vacation rental. The location was perfect for our party. Amazing snorkeling beaches within walking distance. Close to the main port, but far enough away to feel totally isolated. And Ann was incredible. She went out of her way to help our party arrive comfortably and stay comfortable for the entire week. So thankful for her generosity and lovely personality. Pastel House was great for us and we look forward to a return visit. Thanks Ann!!!

Rustic and Perfect home

We had an incredible experience at the Pastel House. It’s rustic and simple. But that suits us perfectly. Right by the best snorkeling, beach chairs included, 180 views from the porch. What more do you need. Our host was responsive and attentive. I look forward to coming back again. Soon.

Great location!

This is a beach house in the best possible location. Nuff said. It is in a secluded area with few other houses with the best views, but it is also very close to town - a big plus. The best snorkeling on the island is just steps away - to the west of the peninsula at Melones Beach. (swim to the right after getting in) But as others have said, it is basic accommodation with only the master bedroom having air conditioning. If you want a luxury stay, then this is not for you. If all you need is a nice hammock on a beautiful porch overlooking the water, then jump on it!

The location of Casa Pastel is perfect, close to town yet secluded. Some of my greatest memories are on that porch after a day at an impossibly beautiful beach. I’ll continue to stay here for years with my family, so long as they’ll have me!

Location, Location, but improvements needed for the price

Owner very nice and helpful. Well stocked for cooking. The deck/porch is wonderful great views SW exposure Close to town. Property needs maintenance-some boards on porch /deck should be replaced; some painting touch ups and a good deep cleaning needed

Ann, property, and Culebra were amazing.

This was our first trip to Culebra and we loved this tiny, laid back island. Definitely rent a good cart, it's perfect. The simple island home is quaint and lovely. Not new or fancy, but well kept and perfect for us. The huge deck overlooking Melones/Sardinia provides breathtaking views, shade from the sun, wonderful breeze and absolutely amazing sunsets. PR had earthquakes while we were here and Ann was very considerate, prompt, and thorough with updates of the situation. Thanks so much for sharing this place with us.

Perfect location - quiet and beautiful

The house is in the perfect spot. An easy stroll to Melones Beach for amazing snorkeling and easy access to town. The views and peace and quiet are amazing. It was the perfect spot for our family of four. It is on a tropical island - so we naturally had some insects (if you are squeamish this might not be the right fit). We loved eating breakfast and dinner on the patio watching the water.
