Spacious Family Home on Squam Lake w/Beach & Dock Access

Escape to the peaceful beauty of Squam Lake with a stay at the Main House at Laughing Bear Cottages. A beloved, updated family-run home, on property that has been in the same family for six generations. Tucked among the pines with stunning lake views, this contemporary lake house features vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, wood floors, and comfortable modern amenities, offering year-round comfort and classic lakeside charm. On those rare warm nights, window fans and free-standing A/C units help keep the sleeping areas cool, while chilly evenings are perfect for cozying up by the gas fireplace or enjoying the comfort of central heating.

Just a quick walk across the street, you'll find our Laughing Bear Beach & Dock, a shared lakefront area enjoyed by guests of the Main House and the two cottages on the property. Spend your time swimming, paddling, fishing, or simply soaking up the sun. Please note that the Main House, beach, dock, and cottages are all part of a shared family property, and guests may see other families during their stay. If you are bringing or renting a boat, dock space is available for a small daily fee and is reserved on a first requested basis.

The VRBO base rate includes up to four guests. The home sleeps up to twelve guests, with additional guest fees applying for reservations with more than four guests.

Primary Bedroom: Queen bed with ensuite
Guest Bedroom: Full bed
Office/Bedroom: Queen Murphy bed
Loft: Four twin beds and a futon

The fully stocked kitchen is equipped for family meals and includes a gas stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher, Keurig, and drip coffee maker. Enjoy meals in the four-person eat-in kitchen, around the eight-person dining room table, on the covered porch, or in the peaceful backyard.

Additional amenities include on-site laundry (please be mindful of water usage, as the home is on a well and septic system), an office workspace with Wi-Fi, and four Roku-enabled TVs located in the primary bedroom, living room, loft, and basement.

Shared guest amenities include two kayaks, fishing poles, beach chairs, umbrellas, and life jackets. After a day on the lake, enjoy the private backyard with its firepit (BYOB firewood), or relax on the large covered balcony overlooking the lake.

Rainy days are perfect for spending time in the unfinished basement game room, featuring ping pong, pool, foosball, poker, puzzles, board games, a TV, and more.

Nestled along scenic Route 113, the location is perfect for summer drives and autumn leaf-peeping. The breathtaking fall foliage reflecting off of Squam Lake, while loons call in the distance, is something to experience. For some of the best summer concerts around The Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion concert venue is just 16 miles away.

Things to Know

Children must be supervised at all times in the basement. Please return all items and leave the space clean. Additional fees apply if the game room requires resetting or cleaning. Please be mindful of the two restricted areas that are clearly marked.

A gas BBQ grill is available for guest use. Propane levels may vary based on use by prior guests. We ask that guests leave the grill reasonably clean for the next family.

Pets are welcome with prior approval. Please reach out before submitting your booking request.

Exterior security cameras are installed in shared outdoor areas, including parking and utility spaces, for property safety. No cameras monitor interior or private guest areas.
