Steven and Carol’s place was excellent. Just as described, sauna and hot tub adding a relaxing element to our stay. They even let us stay an extra night due to an unforeseen snow storm. I would highly recommend staying here!

Responsive and helpful hosts, beautifully decorated cabin.Locks on sauna and hot tub were not as described, seems previous guests messed with them, but Carol helped figure it out quickly. Heavy snowfall before our stay made access to the hot tub and sauna difficult, and getting to the property was impossible without AWD, but can't blame the hosts for the weather.It took a bit of work to park and use the amenities, but it was worth it considering how much you get for the price compared to other properties in the area.

Great Getaway!

We had a wonderful time! The house was perfect size for our family and very convenient to the ski slopes at Snowshoe, as well as some shops and restraints at Snowshoe Village. The scenery was beautiful and host was very nice and accommodating. Would definitely stay again!

Great experience for our family

We stayed the long weekend to celebrate our fathers 80th birthday. The 5 bedrooms and big common area were perfect for our family. Quiet and secluded, but convenient to Cass Railroad, hiking and exploring.

Nice accommodations. Plenty of parking. Convenient to Snowshoe skiing and tubing. Our grandchildren ages 7, 9 and 11 loved their first skiing experience at the ski school. We would certainly stay here again.

My friend group rents a home for a snow trip every year. This was one of our favorite stays. Tons of bedrooms for all the couples, big living room with space to sit everyone, hot tub, lots of bathrooms. Would recommend.

Nice place to spend weekend with friends and family

We stayed there for 6 nights with family and friends. It is a nice big house with all the amenities, the big company of 12 would need. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. Nice big living room and kitchen. Our children had their private bedroom with the bathroom upstairs. Sauna and jacuzzi were a big plus to our stay. Close to Snow Shoe Ski Resort. Easy to communicate with the hosts. Definitely will come back again and recommend to our friends.

Sauna, Hot tub, close to Snowshoe but no WIFI and TV

We have a great time staying here. Sauna and Hot tub was fantastic and 10 min. away from the slopes. Only thing was the WIFI wasn't working and no cell service. Since there is no WIFI that means no TV as well. Good thing they have a good collection of DVDs. We lived through the weekend like in the 90's. Cell service was very spotty at Snow Shoe as well with little to no Wifi. Don't plan on working if you stay here.

The house fit our needs.

The house was was perfect for a larger group coming to the area. There was plenty of space and it was pretty clean. The only issues we encountered were that the hot tub was only filled halfway so we had to fill it ourselves, the drinking water jug was empty, and the tap water had a smell to it. Otherwise, we had a great time and the house fit our needs.

OK house for the price

This house has potential, but needs some work to improve the current state. If you’re looking to save money and aren’t sensitive to the details, this could work for you. As for the items needing improvement: - At least two of the mattresses were creased in the middle, resulting in an uneven sleeping surface. - The bedding is quite cheap and uncomfortable. Pillows reminded me of free airline pillows. - Downstairs water heater struggled to get hot. Everyone had to shower upstairs. - Kitchen pans are in dire shape and need to be replaced - No sponges or cooking oil

Thank you Mark for the feedback. Could we ask for some additional details from you please so we can correct the issues you've identified. Could you please tell us which bedroom the mattresses are in you feel need addressing? As for the pillows, they get washed frequently so suspect this is the cause of the shape; we can get those replaced, thank you for letting us know. The pans in the kitchen were replaced last year, they are red with white nonstick surface; are these the ones you're referencing? Dish scrubbers should have been found under the sink, they are the nylon scrubbers that don't hold mold and bacteria. We forgo actual sponges due to infection control practices, this is also why we don't supply food products that can be used among multiple guests. We can't guarantee any food product has been stored, used properly and nothing has been added that shouldn't have been. Too big of a risk to our guests. We do have two 50 gallon hot water tanks for the house so surprised you ran out of hot water as we haven't had that issue reported before. We will have them looked at them to ensure they are working properly. We appreciate your feedback and will address.

Great Potential, But Needs Improvement

We recently stayed at this property and, while the location and potential were great, we encountered several issues that impacted our stay.First, there were some basic necessities missing—no extra trash bags, no extra toilet paper, and very little dishwasher soap, which would’ve been helpful to know in advance. The hot tub cover was in poor condition, and there was what appeared to be algae in the water, making it unusable. The sauna lock was broken, and the door wouldn’t close properly. Additionally, the dishwasher needs to be secured as its no longer attached to the countertop and falls out whenever you're loading dishes.The house itself had some maintenance concerns: a water leak in the basement bedroom, a router that wasn’t functioning, and trash left on the porch. The rooms were also quite cold, and a small space heater for each room would make a big difference.The mattresses and pillows were also uncomfortable, so if you’re particular about that, it might be worth bringing your own. There were rags left behind by the cleaners, and we didn’t receive any instructions for the water cooler, which would’ve been helpful.Overall, the stay had potential, but upkeep and amenities need improvement. If these issues are addressed, this could be a great rental.

Hi Paul, thank you for this feedback. We had to hire a new cleaning crew for this season and are struggling with them. Most of what you mentioned should have been addressed by the cleaning crew and our apologies it wasn't. This includes hot tub maintenance which they are instructed to shock the tub after each rental so thank you for mentioning this. We will work with them to improve their overall service. The Router was a new one for us as that has been incredibly stable since we replaced to this new internet service about 2 years ago. We will contact the company to inquire about a replacement router. While the mattresses are about 4 years old the pillows were replaced this past spring but will look into them to ensure they are the ones we replaced them with. Again, apologies for having to content with these issue but thank you for bringing them to our attention so we can address immediately.

Excellent weekend trip

The pictures in the listing do not do it justice. The house is much bigger in person. The house has three dryers and three washers. That was a big help for all our wet snowboard clothes. The house was clean and had enough kitchen equipment for all of our meals. Check in and check out was super easy. Over all it was a great vacation stay. Just a heads up. The cell booster at the house helps but cell service in the area and mountain is aweful.

Great place

Every year my wife and I invite friends to an annual ski trip. The place is very spacious and clean. Having 2 kitchens makes it very nice with so many people. The beds are a tad firm, but not terrible. The hot tub was great the first night, it holds 4 people so a little small but doable. We only got to enjoy the hot tub the first night due to it not holding temps above 95 after the first day.(owner is having it worked on) We had plenty of parking with 9 cars parking 3 wide. We really enjoyed our stay!

Unreasonable owners

My group was initially unable to live at this house as a pipe had burst and flooded the basement. The owner informed us of this only an hour before our check-in time at which point majority of the group was already at the location. The owner gave us a full refund as we had to find alternative accommodation and told us that if the house was fixed before the end of our trip we could return at no cost due to the inconvenience caused. 2 days later the house was fixed and so we returned. After we had reached the house the owner asked us to rebook the property online and when we reminded them of the offer of staying at no charge for the remainder of our trip that they had given us they told us we had misunderstood. Our group had reconfirmed the owner's offer of staying at no cost when they first gave it to us as we understood that it was out of the ordinary. However, after we returned to the house they persisted that we had misunderstood and eventually we had to pay. Overall, the acommodation over the course of our trip cost us more than we had initially planned for due to a situation we were not responsible for and the owners were uncooperative in helping us stay within our budget.

Pranay, We always appreciate guests taking the time to provide reviews as it helps to either promote the home to future renters or provides feedback to make improvements. In regards to your review, we would like to add comment to details that would add additional clarity to items missing. The rental party before you did significant damage to the home, littered the property, damaged the hot tub, and drained 2,000 gals of water from the tanks; which has never occurred. Your reservation had a one day gap to turn the house over during what was the worst snow storm in the last 6 years. When we learned of the damages, we drove 4 hours to coordinate with additional housekeeping resources, a contractor for repairs, and ran three truckloads of water in a snow storm ourselves to make the home ready which we were on track for. Then the pipe failure you referenced resulted in ankle deep water flooding the basement where two of the five bedrooms are located. This unfortunately occurred approximately two hours before your expected check in. We immediately called you and received your voicemail box which was full and therefore could not leave a message. One member of your party arrived early and we explained the situation. They were very concerned about the money that had been spent for the reservation which we explained we would cancel the reservation and refund in full due to the flooding as we could not predict when the repairs would be completed. As we knew you purchased non-refundable ski passes from Snow Shoe, we worked to find alternative accommodations for your group. We asked a nearby B&B to provide discounted accommodations during this unfortunate event, which they did. We understand you felt their rates were excessive and insisted they lower them further for your inconvenience, which they refused. The B&B only had availability for the weekdays and not weekend, so we worked with contractors to repair the damages from prior renters in hopes of having available for you if needed over the weekend. We remained in constant communication with you through VRBO, texts, and even phone. We were unaware you booked another house to rent for the remainder of your trip even though we were in constant messaging. Once we communicated to you we should have everything fixed by Friday evening and that if you still needed a place to stay, then rebook the house through VRBO; you chose to cancel your other booking even with the knowledge that you would lose 50% of the rental costs. We do not understand why you would return to our home, given you secured a non-refundable reservation elsewhere. To be clear, we never stated the stay at our home would be at no cost; this may have been an assumption or even a belief of entitlement on your part. You then didn’t respond to our messages, used the key code from the canceled reservation and entered our home without our knowledge or having rental agreement in place. We immediately reached out when we were told by neighbors you were there and explained you were without a reservation and you need to book via VRBO; beyond payment, there is an insurance and liability issue in play. You then reserved through VRBO but refused to pay for the reservation unless we lowered our rates to one you choose; arguing first that the cost be 100% comped and then demanding less than the original cost per night that you booked. Once we finally came to an agreement with a 25% discount, you left the home in poor condition and with some damage. While no one can ever predict or expects emergencies to arise, they do create inconveniences to all involved, for which we immensely apologized and believe we did everything we could to remedy the problem and salvage your weekend. Bad things do happen; how one responds to them defines their character and commitments. Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.

Hot tub temp about 55 degrees upon arrival, had to unplug and re-plug under deck to re-set (slippery access when wet), couple days later 117 degrees, Takes a good while to cool back down, then 119 degrees WOW!! Thermostat (or something) not working properly caused very limited use of hot tub. Unfortunate but, very certain owner will fix soon! One toilet had flush handle issues (had to lift lid to flush); internet was great then near the end of our stay capacity problems (or something?) prevented us from watching college semi-final games; Owner only provided 3 trash bags and as stated no trash pick up, we had a large group and lots of full trash bags to deal with; limited toilet paper especially for a house that is stated will handle a lot of (14) guests for 6 days; both ice machines didn't work and 3 empty cube trays upon arrival; owner did provide 10 bath towels and no wash clothes. I missed that no bath towels are provided under amenities. We would have been in a pickle.....We were with limited space in vehicles traveling to Snowshoe. If I had thought we would need to bring bath towels, I would not have rented this house. In the last 15 years, I have done about 25 short term rentals. Have never had to bring towels and have always been provided plenty of toilet paper. Kitchen well equipped with pots/pans/tableware. Would have been a great place except for a few situations. Owner very, very nice and readily available to communicate but.......

Hi John, Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. We would like to address the items you mentioned. Starting from inside the house, your reservation was made for a total of 10 people (6 adults and 4 children) and there were actually 14 bath towels available to your family to use. Each of the 7 beds has 2 bath towels made available per bed; we do list property as not providing bath towels, but have been. Yes, we do not provide wash clothes. The upstairs refrigerator ice maker had the water line cut by a prior renter (no, we have no idea why); therefore, disabling the ice machine upstairs. The downstairs ice machine is fully functional. This was mentioned to you. Ice trays (3-4 in both refrigerators) are left empty between renters, as one should not assume what a previous renter filled them with. Our housekeeping ensures each tray is left empty and clean for you to fill upon your arrival. We believe the time to freeze a tray is far better for guests than not be assured of safe ice. Our housekeeping provides what they believe is an adequate supply of toilet paper and paper towels based off the reservation. COVID cleaning process calls for not leaving an abundance of supplies out as it could contribute to contamination. We apologize if what was provided was inadequate. As a standard, we provide 4 trash bags in each of the 2 kitchens and apologies if this was not adequate. As is common in mountain communities, there is no trash service that comes to the neighborhood; housekeeping takes care of trash removal as part of their cleaning between rentals and instructions for trash management was contained within the welcome letter you received before your trip. It’s unclear why the lever to the toilet required great pressure to flush, but thank you for identifying as it has been replaced and no longer difficult to flush. The internet is hard to explain because in 4 days of your stay more than 120GB of data was used. We can say, since we switched providers nearly 4-years ago we’ve never had an issue nor had complaints. Internet in that entire area is a challenge in part due to the nearby blackout zone and impossible for several homes. Knowing we’ve never had an issue until your stay is difficult for us to explain. We stream movies and have video conference calls there without issue. With our cell booster on the roof, the homes cell services is actually rather strong. To move to the outside items: the hot tub defaults to 90 degrees (not 55) when not in use for several days. This is a standard manufacturer setting in the USA that we cannot change. General problems to hot tubs do occur when the water is left below the water intake, causing the motor to run dry and jets to continuously pump cold air. When too many people enter a hot tub, it overflows and the water must be replaced to assure water continues to flow into the intake. There is a means to ensuring the water level stayed above the filter, this was explained in the welcome letter you received. Once we explained the process to you on the phone, the tub heated to the correct temperature and functioned fine. Again, thank you for the feedback.
