The property was clean, quiet, comfortable, easy to find, and well appointed. The public beach at the end of the street is closed at night, but the next road over has a walk through to the private beaches along the west side of the island, and as long as you're considerate of others people dont seem to mind folks walking along the beach or doing beach combing. The beaches are all very shallow for quite a distance out, so not really suitable for swimming, but for wading and beach combing theyre great.
The third bedroom with twin beds requires you take stairs outside the house and go up to whats essentially a third floor balcony. The steps could get a bit slick after rain or dew, so probably wouldnt be suitable for people with mobility issues. Our 20 year old loved having a private aerie to herself, though, with its own bathroom. The third floor balcony gives a great view of the sunrise.
The laundry is in the back bedroom, and can get a bit loud in that bedroom even though its hardly audible in the rest of the house with the door closed.
Theres a kayak launch across the street that allows access to the mangrove canals, and the kayaks are in pretty good shape; you can also get ocean access through the canals at high tide, though the kayaks at the house are not designed for ocean use.
We stayed five days and had a very relaxing, restful time. Weeki Wachee and a manatee tour at Homosassa gave us planety to do. Restaurants and grocery stores are about 15 minutes away.
