I don't want to give this company any more of my time, but I feel obligated to warn others of renting from them. We've rented from Elk Springs on three separate occasions prior to this most recent stay. The three other stays were flawless. (Turns out the company changed hands between then and now.) This time, we arrived to a filthy cabin and dirty linens. We had to spend the first 24 hours of our vacation cleaning crumbs from counters, sticky residue from the bathroom vanity, and hair from all of the sheets and towels. It was disgusting. There was also an oily spill on the dresser drawers and carpet in one of the bedrooms, which the company refused to clean until our stay was over (a week later). Finally, the railing from the top floor overlook was extremely loose and unsafe. Maintenance only came out to fix it after we contacted the office twice about the issue. We had children with us and were worried they would lean on the railing and fall to the floor at least 12 feet below. When contacting the office, they did not answer the phone. After letting it ring several times and someone clearly picking up the phone just to hang it up and end the call, we emailed them. They replied stating that they had no missed calls and claimed they had tried to call us back. (They did not, as there was no missed call or voicemail from them on either of our phones.) They then proceeded to go back and forth with us through email, conveniently ignoring portions of our questions and requests and only responding to the safety issue of the loose railing after we reminded them what a huge liability it was for their company. I have read online that they delete/hide unfavorable reviews, so I'm not expecting this to be published, but here it is for what it's worth. Also, if you look at the reviews of the cabin on their website, they are incomplete and undated. They are likely using old reviews from when the company was under different management.
