El guapo Dan está en Otter Point (admite mascotas)

Nuestra casa de troncos en Otter Point está a unos 7 km (4 millas) al oeste de Sooke en la isla de Vancouver, Columbia Británica. Ubicado, a unos 45 minutos en automóvil de Victoria, y a pocos minutos en automóvil de muchas hermosas caminatas en la selva tropical de la costa oeste, ideal para personas que les gusta explorar ambos mundos.

Nuestra tradicional casa de troncos (3 dormitorios + loft) tiene capacidad para 8 personas cómodamente. Cuenta con una cocina totalmente equipada con cocina a gas, televisión por cable, pantalla plana, reproductor de DVD y baño completo con bañera, ducha y lavandería. La chimenea de piedra de 17 pies de altura reunirá a amigos y familiares para pasar noches inolvidables y acogedoras. En el exterior encontrará una gran terraza con bañera de hidromasaje, barbacoa de propano, mesa y sillas, y a solo unos minutos a pie del acceso a la playa.

Se incluyen todos los servicios públicos, leña y llamadas gratuitas en cualquier lugar de Canadá y EE. UU.

Sooke también ofrece pesca, observación de olas, kayak, senderismo, caminatas por la playa y cenas elegantes en Sooke Harbour House y Point No Point

Qué hay cerca: a solo 4-5 minutos a pie de un acceso a la playa. 1 km lo llevará a una tienda local y una pequeña cena. French Beach (a 10 minutos en coche de la casa) tiene un bonito parque infantil con mesa de picnic y acceso directo a la playa, a 10 minutos más al oeste (a 20 minutos en coche de la casa), te llevará al río Jordán, ideal para surfear. Si continúas conduciendo otros 5-10 minutos hacia el oeste y estarás en China Beach / Mystic Beach (30 minutos en automóvil desde la casa), tiene tanto el área de campamento / playa como el área de senderos para caminatas, que es uno de mis favoritos ( 40 minutos de caminata en la hermosa selva tropical de la costa oeste) y terminas en la playa con una maravillosa cascada. Otros 15 minutos en coche hacia el oeste serán Sombrio Beach (45 minutos en coche desde la casa), también rutas de surf y senderismo y, finalmente, 1 hora en coche le llevará a la comunidad de Port Renfrew, conocida por su famosa West Coast Trial, playa botánica conocida por el piscina de mareas en mareas bajas y observación de tormentas en invierno y Avatar Grove (el árbol más retorcido más grande de Canadá).

Perfect for a Moms getaway

The check in was super welcoming and they had a fire going in the fireplace for us on arrival. The place was very clean, and stocked with anything and everything we needed. It’s a beautiful property with gorgeous ocean views. Lots of natural light and surprisingly quiet given that it’s on the main road. I will definitely return.

We had an amazing time, the hottub was great. The fire pit and fire place were relaxing and the host was great at answering any of our questions. This was the perfect place to catch up with some friends I hadn't seen in a long time.

Beautiful log home family vacation

Enjoyed a wonderful family vacation relaxing, playing games, puzzles and spending time together in the hot tub. Large kitchen to cook together and cozy fireplace to keep you warm. Pet friendly accommodation but is on a busy road with only partial fencing.

New Year’s visit with 4 adults and 2 kids

A great cabin with everything you need for a comfortable stay with a family. Getting in and out of the driveway with the car can be a bit challenging but otherwise a perfect stay. The house is well stocked and the hot tub was great. Clean and easy to check in

Beautiful Cozy Cabin on the Coast

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at Handsome Dan’s at Otter Point over New Years weekend. The location was perfect for day trips exploring the west coast. The cabin was very comfortable, well-appointed and just plain gorgeous. We had everything we needed to prepare meals in the large kitchen and greatly enjoyed the hot tub. It was an extra bonus that it’s a pet-friendly rental and our pup felt right at home!

Otterpoint does not disappoint

We love Sooke and Otterpoint. The House is amazing and had all the ammenities. I love to cook for my family where ever we go so appreciated the fully stocked kitchen tools and gas oven! The fireplace was an added luxury.

This property is perfect

We wanted to show our French exchange student a little slice of Canada. This property exceeded our expectations. We arrived to a warm glow up a magical staircase. Great rustic cabin!

My husband Steve, cousin Theona and her hubby, Milton and our two small dogs stayed at this lovely log cabin last week. We had a wonderful time. The cabin was very well equipped with everything you need in your kitchen. There was lots of room inside and the hot tube was a bonus. We would definitely go back again. Thank you France and Dan👍😁

France and Dan were very easy to cope with. They gave us a warm welcome. The house was very clean. We enjoyed the hot tub and the " viewing point" outside. The surroundings were great. A special highlight was seeing a bear with it's baby in Port Renfrew.

What a special space. Gorgeous property, beautiful interior, great fire. Lights around the stairs were a magical touch :) Only issue was it was raining a lot and there’s no covered area to keep towels or other things dry on the hot tub deck… but we made do!

As log cabins go, this one is ok, a bit tired in parts, 2 broken recliners in the lounge, work tops in kitchen need updating and we weren’t fans of the spiral staircase and the bedroom doors, but, overall it’s ok

About twenty years ago when I was still living on the farm in Saskatchewan I suggested to my Dad that we should turn our farm into a vacation farm. He liked the idea but unfortunately due to change of life events that never happened. A few years later, I found myself living here on Vancouver Island, but operating a small vacation rental business stayed on my radar.
A few years after arriving on the Island I met this charming little French Girl. I turned my available charm into high gear and eventually convinced her that I was a prime candidate to become her main squeeze.
Two years after we bought a log house on an acre, 7 km west of Sooke. The place needed a lot of work inside and out. Since the summer of 2004 when we moved much of our spare time and money has gone into repair and rebuild. We are both self-employed so it has not always been an easy nut to crack. But each of us had the same vision of eventually turning our home into vacation guest home.??
After many years of talking and preparing us into buying their home and us dreaming of the day it would happen, it was Christmas Eve day (24 Dec) 2011 that our neighbor Angelo & Frances finally announce us they were ready to sell. We then sold some land I had committed myself to sell to make this dream of us come true.
We officially started to rent July 2013. We named it Handsome Dan’s at otter Point. Handsome Dan is the French Girl’s pet name for me. France, but known by almost everyone as The French Girl is an accomplished artist and skilled craftsperson. She’ll not admit that though. You will see the unique work she does with concrete when you stay with us at our log home or our cottage in Port Renfrew. Her oil paintings of Handsome Dan hang proudly on the high walls of our home too. Like me the French Girl grew up in a small farming community. She is from North Central Quebec; an authentic Quebecois.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

When we purchase our neighbor's house, many people asked us why we choose to move out the Log home and not rent the other house instead. The answer is simple, after all the years living in it, and preparing it for the day it would become a vacation rental, we both agreed that the log home has much more character & charm and wanted to share it's rustic coziness with many people from all over the world.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

When Dan and I decided to purchase this house, we new that a lot of work would be needed to put this place ship shape. Being a home owner, we were able to express our artistic ability. We love this house as it is our creation, everything we made ourself, from the 17'foot stone fireplace (each stone was handmade and individually painted by me) along with the kitchen and the spiral staircase (this one our friend Didier made for us). We gave our heart, our time and our money to make it what it is today and plan to make many more beautiful water and garden features in the years to come on the one acre of land this house is sitting on.
