Plunge pool is not as advertised,

The condo is decent, Easy to access and the kitchen and bathrooms are nice. However we chose this property wanting a swim-up room experience. Unfortunately the "plunge pool" is incredibly shallow, dirty (full of gritty grossness on the bottom) and dated (tiles out of place, stained edges). Also the wood slots on the deck are coming loose. It just does not feel very nice. And the "plunge pool" is more of a fountain for viewing but not using. The owners really should be more clear about that. Also there is no food on property. You must cook or go out in Playa,

Not happy

The second bathroom is so tiny that there is no room for your toiletries. The shower leaks all over the floor and requires a three-towel mop up when finished. Lastly, the second bedroom window faces the very noisy hallway and stairway to the entire condo building, so it’s extremely noisy. The unit has experienced water damage, so the cabinetry is crumbling and deteriorating. I would not recommend this rental.

Beautiful Accomodation in a great Location.

My family came down for Thanksgiving Break and really enjoyed ourselves immensely. The unit itself is clean, well appointed and has a great outdoor area that overlooks both the Huge pool area and the Ocean. We did have a little issue with the AC upon arrival but the management company and Owner responded immediately and had someone out there to fix it. Really great to have that kind of response and attention. I would rent here every time I come down. Really can’t beat it. Great combination of being close to downtown and the Parks like XPlore and XCaret while being far enough way to have some quiet. Highly highly recommended.

Beautiful unit and complex

We had a wonderful stay at Agua Dulce. The unit is even better than advertised -- 2-1/2 baths, laundry facilities and new appliances. Very comfortable for a family of four. The Mareazul complex is gorgeous and -- even though we were there over spring break -- not crowded at all. Mareazul is at the north end of Playa del Carmen about 10 minutes / $10 cab ride from downtown. A couple of watch outs -- there is a convenience store on site and a beach club open for breakfast and lunch only but no food available at night on the property. So I would plan a trip to Mega or Wal-Mart for groceries. Also, the staff at Mareazul are very helpful but not always bilinguial, so having a little Spanish or someone who can translate will help. Overall, we had a great trip and would highly recommend, especially for a quieter and cheaper alternative to the PDC resorts!

Nice but too much money for what you got

This property was ALMOST exactly as it was described to us - the beautiful beach, the lack of amenities, the distance to town, the beautiful pool, the quietness. The owner was available and helpful. What we did not know and wish we had was that the second bedroom had a window that opened into a hall way entrance! The blind was shut 100% of the time and my teenagers basically spent a week sleeping in a large, dark box. Incredibly disappointing as we were expecting they would go to sleep/hangout in in their room with the sounds and sight of the ocean. We have stayed in other places with similar or less price range where both bedrooms had ocean views. We would have chosen a different resort if we had known about this bedroom arrangement.

Gorgeous place with a few issues

This property and this condo are spectacular! Very clean, nice decor and fixtures, close to the pool and the beach. The plunge pool is about knee deep, very clean, cool and inviting for wading, floating or sunning. There was an air mattress in the condo when we were there. Nice! And the nice patio furniture was great for outdoor eating, reading, etc. We enjoyed the beach club. Nice pool there, good cocktails and good food. We took a trip to Chichen Itza with Mayan Explorers. Highly recommended! This place is very quiet, with a few permanent residents and a few other tourists, mostly Spanish speaking. I would not recommend it for teenagers. They will want more action. Great for those wanting a place away from the craziness of Cancun or Playa. Younger kids would love the plunge pool and everyone would have to love the main pool. It is HUGE and has a lot of neat features. Our issues involved difficulties with the air conditioning and the refrigerator. Maintenance came several times to work on both. The AC would cool for a couple of hours, then quit. We would get up in the night to reset it. The problem was never really resolved in the 8 days we were there, although the repairmen worked really hard on it. The refrigerator didn't cool as well as we thought it should, and they tried to fix that, too. Maybe we were expecting too much. Bring your Spanish phrase book, as many of the staff didn't speak any English. Overall a very good stay, but if you require great AC, as some in our party did, it may not be the place for you. Hopefully that is resolved by now. It really is a beautiful place. We hated to leave!

We just got back from a great week in Playa. We used the plunge pool a lot - my kids loved it. Read the review below and not sure where they were coming from. The complex was great - ate lunch every day at the beach club and went into town for dinner at night. Loved, loved loved the beach. Thanks!

We loved our stay here. We felt very safe at all times. The people that work here are very honest and helpful. My son fell ill during our trip and the concierge helped us find good medical care. My children left items by the pool and the guards turned them in for us. The location is perfect. Easy drive to xel-ha and everywhere else. Oh... No problem on getting our refund either. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Gorgeous grounds and beach

We had a great three night stay here. The condo is part of a very large development which is very well maintained and secure. The pool is large and well kept, and the beach is absolutely amazing. We loved that it was not crowded. Many of the condo buildings in the larger development appear to be either unsold or empty, which was great by us because we don't like crowds. The plunge pool on the patio is a nice touch, and was great for my 8 year olds. The kitchen needs a few new pots and pans without missing teflon, but otherwise had everything we needed. There were plenty of towels for showers, beach and pool. Would stay here again for sure.

Our guest toilet started leaking on the second day of our visit. My husband had to shut off the water because it kept leaking out into the hall. A man was sent to fix it. After a long time and much banging, he said it was fixed. We waited 6 hours to use it and it started leaking again. The next day, another guy came to fix it. By this time we had used all of our towels to sop up the water. The maid did not replace the towels. We had to call to get clean towels. The toilet was finally fixed but again, we could not use it for several hours. We would have appreciated instructions on how to use the stove top. The instructions on using the tv and washer were great! The condo is beautiful and we thought the welcome basket a very fun gift. We would definitely stay there again and tell our friends about it.👵🏼😎🌴

Fabulous!

This was the perfect place for a group of girls who wanted to relax and enjoy the ocean. This place is modern, steps away from the beach and breathtaking. The listing of the description and pictures are accurate. We enjoyed the pool in the patio and just lounging around in the jacuzzi. We had no problems getting into the property. There is also a small restaurant a few steps away walking down the beach. The restaurant on the property was not open, Im assuming due to it being low season. The location is pretty isolated so I recommend renting a car or catching a taxi. The drive to downtown Playa Del Carmen is about 10minutes. We rented a car and drove all around. Just be cautious as driving can get a little hectic. We took a taxi once to downtown(cost $12 one way). Overall, we had a fabulous time at this rental. It was clean, efficient, huge and overall a relaxing stay. I can't wait to come back!

Great staff and property

We rented directly throught North American Standards. Alex, Deborah and the whole staff was great from start to finish. We loved the private plunge pool at the condo and the beach was right out our door practically. We are looking forward to going back.

Review

There was a violent storm that unhinged the air conditioning. Good place but pretty far from town. One really has to be on one's toes to drive around here. Had some near misses with the taxi drivers. Besides that I would recommend it. I think it should be 200.00/night.

Aqua Dulce

A family holiday demands comfortable, aesthetically pleasing quarters, activities on site and, for us, day trip possibilities. Our winter escape from Canada to Mexico was very enjoyable as the criterion was met in spades by our accommodation in Aqua Dulce which is perfectly situated in the Mareazul complex just north of Playa del Carmen. The complex is artistically landscaped with a very interesting pool area running between the two rows of buildings. This allows for creative play in the water for the children while the adults have an aesthetically pleasing lounge area. The beach with its fine white sand and gentle waves is easily accessed. The walk in to Playa del Carmen was interesting and could be done n about 40 minutes either along the beach or on the road which led into town allowing for an interesting look at local life. Driving in took only 5 - 10 minutes. Mareazul was an excellent choice as the development allows for a feeling of privacy while offering easy access to the restaurants of Playa del Carmen. We took a day trip to Xplor, an adventure park which offers ATVs, paddle boats and zip lining. It was a huge hit with zip lining declared the highlight. Aqua Dulce is furnished beautifully. The open kitchen/living room features white leather furniture, dining table and chairs as well as a large island which allows for conversation if one is preparing food. Pastels in both the great room and the bedrooms are reminiscent of the ocean. Amenities such as beach towels were much appreciated as they are bulky to pack. All in all this unit was a superb "home away from home".

Aqua Dulce - relaxing stress free vacation

Great vacation condo. Great sandy beach but no sea life for snorkeling. Guest basket was a nice touch. Very nice pool. Biggest issue was getting to and from Playa (or anywhere) for family of six. Taxi fare got expensive rather quickly. Concierge service from Carla was excellent. Bathroom fans were not working (well) & there was a potential for mold. Shopped at MEGA & Walmart for goroceries + taxi ride... enjoyed Xcaret, Chetz itza, took ferry to Cozumel - wouldn't bother with the snorkeling tour again - maybe a different company does a better tour - or if you have your own gear just take a taxi up the coast & have him drop you off at a good spot.

Mareazul

Extremely nice accommodations. The only thing we would have liked would be a BBQ, to make evening meals easier. The pool was gorgeous, but our family prefers the beach. The beach was excellent, soft white sand with gorgeous water. My husband likes to snorkel but this beach was not good for that. Staff were nice and helpful. We went in to Playa del Carmen numerous times and it was very easy to get taxi. The concierge booked numerous tours for us and was very helpful when we had questions. Would definitely recommend this as a holiday destination.
