The bus stop for the Winklmoosalm and Hindenburghütte is just a few steps away. Our winter guests will find the children’s ski school and the entrance to the Reit im Winkl cross-country ski trail network—which spans over 50 km and is perfectly groomed—right nearby. Reit im Winkl: A Climatic Health Resort According to Wikipedia, the designation “climatic health resort” is awarded to “towns whose air and climate, according to an expert assessment, possess characteristics that are beneficial for relaxation and health.” Reit im Winkl was designated a climatic health resort in 1956 and has consistently met the criteria for this designation through its ongoing efforts ever since. One key factor is its elevation, which ensures that summer heat is moderated and nights remain pleasantly cool. The town is surrounded by extensive mountain forests of the Chiemgau Alps and, in terms of its general climate, belongs to the “Bavarian Alps” climate region. The character of the weather is decisively determined by the local conditions—that is, by the influence of the mountain ranges and valley cuts on weather patterns. In addition to the natural conditions for good air quality, we actively work to preserve the fresh mountain air by utilizing natural heat and providing ample bus service.
