We had the most wonderful stay in Lake Lure. The house was spacious and comfortable enough for 12 adults to enjoy. The kitchen was fully stocked. The views from the back covered patio are amazing. We can't wait to come back!

My siblings and our spouses (9 pp in all) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It rained a little but the house was very well appointed with games, reading material, TVs if desired, and plenty of covered outdoor space. One night we had a very nice pit fire but we were without marshmallows. All of our dinner meals were prepared by us, and one of my brothers is a gourmet chef with his own business. He said “the owners thought of everything for this kitchen”. My wife would be pleased with another stay to the Lake Lure house.

Amazing Property

This is a perfect house for large groups or families. Not only are there plenty of things at the house to keep people entertained, but there is also so much more in the community itself. The pictures and description of the property are accurate. Lake Lure is still being cleared and not open, but we still had so many other amenities to enjoy and the 4th of July weekend was filled with community events. The house is beautiful and so inviting. The views from the porches are amazing. Our host Vickie is one of the best hosts we have encountered. She was in contact prior to our trip, providing detailed information that made our stay from start to finish seamless. On the day we were departing as we started to pack the car, we realized the battery was dead and we had to call AAA. They were not going to show up by the time we needed to check out, but Vickie was so accommodating and understanding by telling us not to worry and hang out until we were able to get it jump started.

Beyond our expectations!

We celebrated our 50th anniversary with our two sons and their families and stayed in this home. The layout was totally perfect for our group of ten which included our grandkids ages 10 through 14. My favorite areas were the kitchen, upper deck and game room. We used every feature which included the music app, fire pit, and kayaks. Everything was well-marked and organized and included anything you would ever need and then some. Together with the amenities of the Rumbling Bald resort, we had an all inclusive package of activities within our immediate access. We did drive to Church and the grocery store. Otherwise, there was no need to make any trips by car. We planned our days out in advance and stayed busy from morning to night. Everyone had a great time with so many life-lpng memories being shared. It was like this home was built just for us!!!Our host was very attentive and checked in with us and available if we had any needs. Outstanding.

Our extended family of 14 stayed in this beautiful home. Vickie and Rich, the hosts, have left no stone unturned. They have thought of everything. Everything is clearly labeled and they are readily available for any questions. Everybody was comfortable in their rooms. The outdoor spaces are gorgeous. We grilled and enjoyed the patio for outdoor dining and utilized the fire pit several times. The resort is lovely. We played pickleball every day. There are outdoor and indoor pools. We’re not golfers but the course is beautiful. Kayaks and paddle boards are provided and were used by many of us. Beach towels are even provided. The two dishwashers and extra fridge came in handy. You can’t ask for anything more. The kids loved the downstairs rec room. We had a blast and will definitely return. Thank you, Vickie and Rich.

Another great New Year's

There we 12 old college friends that got together to celebrate New Year's. The house was perfect for 6 couples. It had all the amenities in a beautiful location. We do all our own cooking so it was nice to have the 2 refrigerators and a fully equipped kitchen. The owner is very nice and easy to work with. We 're definitely planning on coming back next year!

Best vacation ever

This home is spectacular. Plenty of room and lots to do - from a spacious kitchen for cooking to a big game room for pool table challenges to Texas Hold'em tournaments. We had a fire in the fireplace every night while roasting marshmallows and sipping drinks. The three teenagers had their own bedroom. The three couples had their own large bedrooms and we had two unused twin beds. The home was beautifully furnished and exceptionally clean. We loved gathering at the large dining table every night for conversations and laughs. We all agreed this was our best family get-together ever and it rained for two of the three days. That didn't stop the younger generations from taking long hikes on the golf course driving paths and returning with interesting stories of what they saw. The host was wonderful and checked in with us to answer any of our questions. Note - this is very spacious but not handicap accessible with three levels. Pick up extra firewood on your way in for the wonderful fireplace to use for multiple nights. And do plan to make waffles at least once - the waffle iron is great. The icemakers are great; we loved the coffee bar/ wine and drink counter; multiple TV's: and two refrigerators. Hope we can return before all the teenagers go off to college starting next year.

Just Perfect!

Hands down, the best experience my friends and I have had in the 10 years we've been getting together for our annual "guys weekend." No more searching for a different house and location every year for this trip; we'll be coming back here! The layout of the house was perfect for six guys or more, and it is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The photos on VRBO are impressive, but this home is even better than the photos reveal. There is an attention to detail and a personal touch to each space in this home that even a bunch of guys noticed. Finally, Vickie was so kind, informative, and very responsive to our questions or any needs. As a VRBO veteran, I usually have some constructive suggestions for improvement; not this time.....it was just perfect!

39th Bogey Retreat

This was our third year straight renting this property and the 39th year going to Rumbling Bald for our annual golf ⛳️ trip. The house works well for a four night stay of 8 guys playing golf then coming back to a house and enjoying cocktails 🍹 and dinner. The kitchen is fully equipped with just about everything you need. Already planning to book it again for our 40th annual trip to the mountains.

Family Vacay 2024

This home is absolutely beautiful and has many spaces to separate to if quiet is needed. The view is amazing and the home is well equipped for young ones as well as older ones. It is very spacious with so many things to do at the house but more importantly the season passes to Rumbling Bald Resort amenities was the icing on the cake! Hope to return again someday.

Look Out Lodge Has Everything

Our family stayed at Look Out Lodge for a wedding in Rumbling Bald resort. The home is spacious, clean and well appointed. The teens spent much time in the game room. We used the amazing fire pit twice and the super long smores sticks were a hit. We found the corn hole game under the deck, behind the swings. There was plenty of fire wood too. We utilized the paddle boards and kayak twice also. Don't forget the access cards to get in to the lake area. We rented the golf cart that seats 6 and used it daily. Don't get me started about the decks. I had my coffee outside every morning on the sofa on the 1st (?) floor. The view from the decks was just gorgeous. The parking is ample. But my only hesitation is to caution the renter that the driveway is very steep. Definitely for skilled/experienced drivers only. Luckily, there are two parking spaces at street level. Vickie was a hands-on manager and responded immediately when contacted about a faulty ice maker. This was not a problem for our group, as we had bags of ice already, and also, there is a spare refrigerator in the game room, not to mention the wine fridge at the bar. Another perk was the multiple cell phone charging stations provided in the living room and the upstairs quarters. If we had need to be in the area again with our group, we would definitely stay at the Look Out Lodge again.

Lake Lure Magic!

We are a group of friends - 5 couples. We searched VRBO and found many beautiful options but feel we hit the jackpot with this home! Our group is very well traveled and we rent homes together for long weekends. This house is so incredibly beautiful with the perfect layout for a group our size. Plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, outdoor space and gathering space. The hosts have thought of everything! The house is so well stocked, well organized and everything was labeled so we could quickly find and also return items to their correct space. The views were amazing and star gazing was phenomenal! Large spacious home but super cozy! Our host Vickie was so easy to communicate with and made sure we knew everything to make our stay pleasurable. Our group voted and this home as the best we have ever stayed in and we selfishly treat ourselves to the best when we travel! We plan on returning!

Perfect Quiet, But Close to Everything, Find

The house was clean with plenty of gathering space indoor and out. Having the club amenities close by with a gym, pool, hottub, putt putt etc was perfect for rainy days or when we didn’t go hiking. Cute shops nearby and a quick drive to Asheville for fun. We highly recommend this house for a stay with large families or a few couple just wanting to get away.

Family Spring Break

This was a wonderful property for families. There was so much space! We thoroughly enjoyed the porches. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need to cook big meals. Plenty of pots, pans, utensils, etc. We would like to come back in the summer so we could use the pool and other outdoor amenities. We had teenagers with us so they took advantage of having the loft to themselves as well as enjoying the pool table and other games. The host was very responsive to our questions and seemed to really want us to enjoy our time at the property.

I could write a wonderful Love Story about Lake Lure that started when I was a teenager, and attended Camp Lurecrest (a Christian Camp at the opposite end of the Lake)....Think Dirty Dancing Camp..but take out the Dirty! LoL! Our family has spent many summers on Lake Lure creating a life time of wonderful memories, trail hiking, kum-bah-yah campfires, and making great memories.

In 2005, we bought a View Extraordinaire, with the sound of a nearby waterfall. It is not be a cliff hanger (too high), not right on the big lake, must have flat land somewhere (for 8 Grandgirls to explore) and have lots of fun things to do. We bought this VIEW with an interesting little red cabin on the property in a Resort community.
My husband is a General Contractor/Builder/ & Certified Remodeler in Charlotte for 25+ yrs. Did I mention that the little red house was a Hexagon? Oh Yeah! The day we found the house, Rich said, 'I feel certain that I can fix this house, but I could never create a view like this.' We spent few years enjoying and deciding just what and how we would remodel the house, fondly referred to as 'our Rubik Cube.' Each year we welcomed another Grandchild. After 8 Grandgirls...our plans had enlarged. In 2012, we began the daunting task of doing a major Addition/Renovation of the entire home.

The Whole House Renovation took almost 12 months. We are honored that the NARI (National Association of Remodeling Industry) awarded our Home Project, the COTY Award for Best Whole House Renovation in 2013! And then again in April 2014, the Home Builders Association awarded our home, a 1st place Gold Award for Best Whole House Renovation again. Yoohoo!
We so enjoy our home away, and love sharing it with our friends and family. It is True: A house is made of Sticks and Bricks....but a home is made from love!
