Great Location

Tropea is a beautiful city with excellent restaurants and shops, and obviously the beaches are amazing. Be sure to make reservations for your cabanas in advance. The apartment could use some kitchenware updating and needed a Guest Welcome Guide. We had one weird thing happen upon check in. We were asked for 22 Euros cash for the "local tourism board". It was listed as a line item under Paid at property but to ask for cash was odd especially when it looked paid. We had friends at another VRBO who were not asked for this "tax".

Great location.

Sofa uncomfortable to sit on, chairs ok. Many great restaurants nearby. Front door lock was a bit hard. Loved the city. We had a hard time communicating with the owner and had to contact VRBO but alls well that ends well!

LOCATION PERFETTA

L'appartamento è stato al di sopra delle aspettative:alle comodità moderne come lavatrice, lavastoviglie, condizionatori in ogni stanza, WI fi, unisce il fascino del palazzo d'epoca, con soffitti altissimi, grandi porte finestre ed un arredamento pieno di fascino. La posizione ideale completa l'esperienza.

Beautiful Tropea

Well located, easy walk to everything, including beaches. Tastefully decorated. Well equipped. Wi-Fi a bit spotty, but that was true throughout Tropea. Hot water was lacking in morning the last two days.

Very good

Very large, comfortable, apartment. Has everything you need. Wifi is not reliable. Correspondence with the owner is very slow but does occur. I would book this property again. Tropea is gorgeous.

Central location

The home was very nice and close to the steps that lead to the beach. The bedrooms were nice and had balconies overlooking the restaurant and street below. Tropea is beautiful. All ages can enjoy this town. Please note that it isn't a handicap accessible town though. The steps are the only way to get to the beach unless you take a taxi and the apartment is on the second floor. I would stay at Palazzo Tocco again. My only remarks are that the air conditioning did not work in the second bedroom (and I had asked prior to arriving if it worked...based on a review I read about the same issue). The TV in the kitchen also randomly shuts off...not a big deal...just annoying though. I would still recommend this great house though and hope to return!!

As 4 seniors from Tacoma Washington, the place was as talked about in the Homeaway profile. It was in the heart of the city, close to a great view and the place itself was comfortable with plenty of room. The Wi-Fi could have been better but we were able to use it.

al di sopra delle aspettative

con mia sorella e mio cognato abbiamo molto gradito il soggiorno in questo bellissimo e comodo appartamento. La location è centralissima, il palazzo e l'appartamento pur risentendo degli anni, conservano un fascino particolare che ne fa apprezzare anche le piccole carenze. Se dovessi ritornare a Tropea, luogo splendido, ritornerò sicuramente in questo appartamento. Ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo.

Great Location Lots of room.

The apartment is in a great location in the historic area. We had no internet or hot water for the first 4 days. The owners were away the entire month of our stay and communication was a bit difficult. Yolanda ( the caretaker) and her husband Vasile eventually sorted everything out for us. The apartment actually had 2 bathrooms and two bedrooms. We were there during off season so quite a few businesses were closed but we wanted for nothing. The boats to Stomboli were not running during our stay. Easy to walk everywhere from the apt. You are very close to the stairway (200 steps) to the beach. The street below is a little busy a few times a day as it seems to be a main route for some commuters. Tropea red sweet onions are fantastic and don't miss the d'uja, licorice liqueur and pizza. Only negative in the area is that it seems that no one picks up after their dogs and there is poop everywhere you go. The people of town are very friendly and helpful and eager to communicate with you as long as you make an effort to try some Italian.

IN VACANZA E SENTIRSI A CASA

Sono appena tornata a casa e sono molto soddisfatta. Ero già stata a Tropea altre 2 volte negli ultimi 15 anni e l'ho trovata migliorata sia come città che come meta turistica. Io e la mia famiglia (2 adulti, 2 bambini/ragazzini di 13 e 11 anni e una cockerina) abbiamo soggiornato nell'appartamento di proprietà della sig.ra Stella e devo dire che ci siamo trovati benissimo. L'appartamento è accogliente e dà la sensazione di essere proprio a casa e il fatto che abbia anche una memoria storica, sia come edificio che come arredo, permette di immergersi totalmente nel vissuto della città. La casa è dotata di aria condizionata e di due televisori che consentono di evitare discussioni a chi, come me, ha ragazzini in famiglia. La posizione è ottima: vicino alle scalette per accedere alle spiagge e nel cuore di Tropea per viverla liberamente di giorno e di notte. Ho apprezzato l'attenzione riposta nel far trovare la casa pronta per essere vissuta con le lenzuola e gli asciugamani a posto (noi li avevamo portati), l'olio, lo zucchero, il caffé, il sale, il detersivo e anche l'acqua ... quelle attenzioni che fanno la differenza ! Se torneremo a Tropea sicuramente torneremo qui ...anche per riprenderci la bilancia che abbiamo dimenticato e che lascio momentaneamente in comodato d'uso. Unico neo non aver potuto conoscere la sig.ra Stella per l'imminente maternità ... magari in futuro.

A fantastic holiday in a superb location

We enjoyed a fantastic holiday in this delightful apartment in the historical centre of Tropea, just 5 mins walk from the beach. Stella and her mother were extremely welcoming and helpful, giving good advice on places to visit, etc. We felt welcomed and very well supported. Their apartment is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your holiday. This was our first visit to Tropea and to Stella's apartment and we hope to be able to return next year. It was absolutely delightful and we can highly recommend it.

Wonderful italian experience!

We stayed two lovely weeks in June 2014 in the perfectly located apartment in the historical centre of Tropea. You have everything at your doorstep. It is a very comfortable apartment with everything you need generously provided and Signora Luisa is very helpful. The apartment is very roomy and despite the location very nice and quiet. You felt part of the surroundings with pleasant neighbors. The walk up from the beach is also good exercise. We thought "Nonnos beach" was very nice. We hope to come back and would highly recommend this apartment to others. Karl & Lindy from Australia

Very nice place

Stay in Tropea was a very good decision. The flat is situated in the middle of the centre, near very good restaurant (I recommend!). The flat is shortly after renovation and you can find there a lot of original elements of the house. The owner is very nice and helpful person, so your holidays must be nice. She lives in the same building, so there is no problem to contact with her. If you looking for the flat in the centre of historical city, after renovation and you don’t want to spend a lot of money – Tropea is a place for you.

"We had a great time. Mrs Luisa was very kind and welcoming. The apartment is in the center, and we hardly ever used the car. Everything is close by, bars, beaches, shops. The apartment is located in an ancient palace in Tropea, really beautiful. It is all furnished with taste, there is a beautiful light in all the rooms and a very useful dishwasher! Really a nice holiday."

"Ottimo appartamento con EFFICIENTE aria condizionata, centrale e spazioso. Letto comodo e cucina completa. Macelleria in via Liberta'' per pollo allo spiedo (tutti i giorni, non solo il sabato come le altre) e coniglio. Vicini gentili e simpatici. Vi ritorneremo certamente!! Great apartment with efficient a/c, central and spacious. Comfortable bed and complete kitchen. The butcher (at the macelleria) in via Liberta'' has chicken rotisserie daily contrary to others. Kind and cordial neighbors. We will certainly be back!!"

"This is EXCELLENT-The apartment is lovely and very spacious. It is situated in the historic town centre, so all the shops, restaurants etc are right on your doorstep. Owner(s) are very helpful, friendly and reasonable. We had some small problem with the shower at arrival,it was fixed the morning after(immagin on a sunday morning in Italy!!)There are numerous restaurants to choose from all reasonably priced.On top of the breath-taking scenery and beaches it''s also possible to book excursions in the area through local booking offices/travel agencies at reasonable prices(f.e.boat trip along the coast,Stromboli vulcano by ninght,..)Ninght life is well organised (a lot of bars;shops open untill 24:00)If you travel by car do not forget to ask to owner to arrange access to the historic centre.Conclusion is we had a WONDERFULL time in Tropea and certainly we will return."

"Perfect location in a 17...

"Perfect location in a 17th century palazzo. High ceilings, big windows with french balconies. Air condition, WiFi and an American kitchen perfectly equipped with everything you would need. So go to the market in the morning, buy yourself fresh fish, mozzarella, vegetables, fruit and wine, go to the beach in the afternoon and prepare your meal in the evening which you will enjoy sitting at a big table close to the window - and watch the poor tourists marching up and down the cobbled street in search of restaurants where the food and the feeling will never be as good as what you have! Afterwards - if you want to mix up with the crowd as a dessert - you can go out and join the corso, where inhabitants and tourists alike are walking up and down the main street and enjoy yourself in front of a bar with a cocktail or a campari soda, just watching the scene... The owner, Mrs. d. T., who lives just around the corner was very friendly and helpful in any way although she does only speak Italian, if necessary she has a lady friend who speaks English... We had a very good time and can definitely recommend the apartment to all those who prefer the feeling of being a part of a beautiful, ancient, small town and its everyday life (not to forget the two very nice beaches footsteps away!) rather than a crowded and touristy location... "
