Very spacious house. Loved the lake view. The upstairs bathroom has the slanted ceiling and was difficult for adults.

Lake Life

The house is in the perfect location. Plenty of sleeping room for two families of 4. Access to water was a huge plus. The docks are shared so what appears to be the property’s yard is actually shared community space for a couple houses near the water. Second floor took a bit to cool down but leveled out with the fans running.

The house and location are excellent for a family vacation. There are many bedrooms spread around the house which allowed us to find a comfortable setup for everyone in our party. Just a heads up that the dock behind the home is shared and there is a public access path directly next to the property. This was not a problem for us but we were unclear about that detail until we arrived. Also, this property is for sale and we were contacted multiple times about showing the property while we were there. It was very short notice and with three kiddos on different nap schedules we had to respectfully decline.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was dirty and needed some repairs around the inside and outside. Basement was musty and moldy. The wifi did not work, we called three times and by the end of the week it was finally fixed.

Overall great getaway!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our overall stay was great! We did have complaints about two of the beds being on wheels, which was very uncomfortable. There was no additional toilet paper in the house. We had to purchase on our own. Had we known this before hand, we would have bought extra with us. No extra trash bags were available. Luckily we had some on hand, or we would have had to buy that as well. The property was clean and appeared to be well maintained.

Great winter get-away for our family

Nice spacious family room and kitchen. Teens were each happy to get their own space, one in basement and one on top floor. Wi-Fi was reliable, and we travel with a lot of devices. We used hot tub every day. We cooked most meals (stupid pandemic). It was a short drive to the market or for take-out meals. We got a few hikes in when it wasn’t raining including Swallow Falls State Park - an easy flat trail with amazing views. We had a problem with the hot water heater, but it was repaired in about an hour, which was great! A few suggestions: Kitchen needs more forks and coffee mugs, and it would be helpful to get rid of the old scratched up Teflon pots and pans. We did a lot of digging to find a few useable items and their matching lids. Thanks for a relaxing week!

Dirty

The house was dirty, toilets were disgusting, mold in the shower, silverware put away dirty with food stuck to it. it was mentioned that they would come clean the house if not satisfied with cleaning. We saw this on the second day we were there. Overall the house was not clean. There was a lot of broken things - toilet paper holder, towel holders, plastic chairs for bonfire. Chairs broke while sitting in them (no rocking, all fours in the ground, and not overweight). Only 6 bath towels for a house that slept 10 people 2nd bed in the loft was not made but they left sheets if we wanted to make it. We have stayed at other rentals in Deep Creek and overall this place was not worth the $7,000 we paid.

Excellent stay, but bring your own pillows

The accomodations and location were perfect for our group of 4 couples. The view of and access to the lake are great, and would no doubt be even better in summer or fall when the leaves are still in full color. It was cold and dreary during our stay, but in better weather, that deck and back yard would be awesome. The house was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped. We only had two issues. First, the lack of water pressure is almost comical, especially in the showers. Sometimes barely a trickle, and it even stopped completely at one point in one shower, I assume when someone in another bathroom flushed a toilet. Even pressure at the kitchen sink is half what one would expect. And I can't imagine how long it would take to fill the big jacuzzi tub in the main floor master suite! Second, the mattresses are visibly dented in from use and not all that comfortable, and the pillows are flat. I'd suggest bringing your own from home. Also be aware that the thermostat is on the main floor, which makes the downstairs and upstairs bedrooms quite cool. There are extra blankets. We appreciated the linens and towels being provided so we didn't have to pack our own. All in all, a great house and great location! Would definitely stay here again!

Long weekend getaway

We had a great weekend at Over the Rainbow. It was very quiet and relaxing. We loved the view of the lake morning, afternoon and evening. The hot tub was just perfect to help us relax. The fire pit and pool table were also nice additions. The kids had a blast and so did the adults. Thank you for sharing your property.

Require proof of cleaning before renting

Water pressure almost non existent upon arrival ( a little better after calling), place not cleaned, soot all over everything, dead animal smell horribly permeating in laundry room (confirmed by maintenance who came, but could do nothing about it), had to purchase George foreman grill and griddle to cook on, along with other utensils because they were either missing from home or too dirty to risk using

It could use a better selection of cups and glasses; other than wine glasses, everything was either quite large or very small. We also had to go out and buy trash bags, as there were no back-ups provided. The thermostats took a day or two to figure out as well, with complaints of too cold on lowest level and too hot upstairs. Clearer instructions should be available so that it doesn't seem overpriced due to a lack of sleep.

Great lake view but house needs some TLC

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house had some updates but still had some 80's décor. Floors were all hardwood but when they were done, the kitchen was left with about a half inch difference from the great room - perfect balance beam for kids but not so much for adults. We did not have instructions to get the pellet stove going in the lower level so it was a little chilly. There was leak in the master bedroom that showed up with all the snow melting and the humidifier in the lower level needs to be watched as it overflowed during the night. Or at least let the renters know so we can keep an eye on it. Looked like it had happened before as the floor was already showing signs of buckling. Too bad as the floor looked newer and was nicely updated. The entrance with the snow and mud was muddy and quite the mess. Not good with uploading cars but the garage was a better option to keep the mud down when we loaded up to go home. The backyard is gorgeous and we were actually able to have a fire on our ski trip - quite the rarity! Overall, nice view and land but house needs some TLC.

The big issue was that there was nothing in the kitchen like salt, pepper, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. The last home I rented (not with this company) had everything!

Hi Thank you for your review on Over the Rainbow. We are happy to share that the owner has ordered brand new family room and dining room furniture, and new appliances in the kitchen. You should have been left with a starter pack of paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags and soaps. I sincerely apologize if this was missed, they should always be there upon arrival. We will make sure this doesn't happen again. Hope to see you at the lake again soon Shelia

Under a Mud Puddle not Over a Rainbow

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property was outdated and dirty, mold in showers, cobwebs with dead bugs in windows, kitchens utensils/dishes were old and dirty. It was just not a clean, well kept home. The homes décor is mostly old and outdated, the transition in the middle of the wood flooring is dangerous, we tripped many times. We would not stay at this property again, not up to Taylor Made standards.

Holiday Over the Rainbow

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, the house was very nice, but we were unhappy with several issues. Several of the sink/shower drains were not working properly and we did not enjoy standing in our own shower water, or waiting for the sink to drain in the master. The TV in the main room was not working properly and kept cutting out. This must not have been a problem with the service, but the TV, as all of the other TVs were working. We had to go downstairs to watch the football game on Christmas day and would have preferred to stay upstairs. My daughter's bathroom had dirty towels hanging on the back of her bathroom door when we arrived. Evidently someone tried to start the pellet stove with paper before our visit, because it had stuff in the bottom of it. No paper around to start the fireplace. It would have been nice to have more than 1 trashbag and toilet paper, luckily I brought toilet paper but didn't know I had to. The windows were rather dirty. The large dining room table needs to be replaced -- I would have been afraid to set a heavy dinner on it (bowed in the middle). It left a bad impression to drive up and see the column on the front of the house look like someone ran into it and that it was about to collapse. I'm normally not a complainer, but these little things made it just not as nice as a prior experience we had renting a house in Deep Creek.

If something is less than satisfactory, we are always eager to do what we can to make it right. Our pre-arrival emails do mention items we supply and items you need to bring, but I will look into ways to make that more clear in our communications. Thanks again, Stacy

Quantity not Quality

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I arrived by GPS a few hours prior to check in and went directly to the house. Nobody was there so I peeked in the windows. No Housekeeping and the beds were a mess and unmade. I went to the rental office to make a copy of my drivers license as required. The lady was not very pleaseant and told me i was not to be there until 4 pm. I think she could have been nicer. I asked for a local map of attractions and they said they didnt have anything and to go to the local chamber of commerce. It would have be a great assistance to provide this for visitors of their properties. The house looked amazing on the website, but the quality of the house construction was fair at best and the furniture looked to be purchased at some bargain basement, very disapointed overall. Both outside doors would not close on their own and the wind would slam them open in the night. Towel rack was broken and if you need WIFI to do some occasional work, better bring your own as the WIFI worked an average of an hour a day during the entire 5 days.
