Una encantadora casa de campo de la época de 1930, con una sala de estar con mosquitero en la terraza, una cocina bien surtida y un baño, dormirán dos en una cómoda cama tamaño queen. Perfecto para una o dos personas. Estacionamiento cubierto adyacente. Un patio al aire libre que da a la terraza de la casa, es un íntimo privado sentado y comedor, entre los plátanos y el árbol de mango de cien años de antigüedad. Cottage está en la propiedad de una casa histórica, VRBO listado 495665, pero orientado hacia los jardines del paisaje tropical. La cocina Galley alberga una estufa de gas de dos quemadores, hervidor eléctrico, cafetera, microondas, horno tostador y refrigerador bajo mesada. Lavadora y secadora con detergente, en carport casa de campo. Sillas de playa, toallas de playa, equipo de snorkel, tablas de bodyboard se suministran para su disfrute y conveniencia.

amazing stay. Host was super helpful and friendly and the cottage had everything you could want from a fan, to coffee, to cooking supply’s to books. It had everything. Property was so calm and peaceful truly such a great stay. Need to book here.

This property is just as advertised. The pictures, reviews, everything with no unwanted surprises. As well as the descriptions of the nightly noises. Truly wild. I'm a very light sleeper and brought my own "noise" machine, hilarious, you literally couldn't hear it for the frogs, birds, then once they quieted down 2:30-3:00a.m. the roosters till 5:30 ish. However the cottage had a very large, very helpful noise machine, that plus ear plugs, made for a not to bad nights sleep. We really enjoyed the cottage each evening before bed and in the morning before heading out. We stayed 7 full days and had zero issues. Lisa is a very attentive host. We made multiple lunches to go and breakfast most every morning. The kitchen is well stocked and met our needs. A very nice stay away from all the "tourists".

Great quiet location for this shabby chic cottage. Good communication with the host. Personally, the lack of AC and no ceiling fans in the high humidity made the stay too uncomfortable for my husband and I so we checked out early. But the host was very understanding.

Hawaii cottage

This cute cottage has the perfect location to enjoy the nearby beaches, shopping and enjoying the island. The property is beautiful and the chickens and frogs added a special touch to our stay. Thank you Lisa for being a perfect host. And your coffee is delicious!

Quaint Portuguese Cottage

What a spectacular get away! This quaint historical cottage and its setting was the ultimate Hawaiian experience. Lisa and her daughter Emma couldn’t have been more perfect hostesses. The cottage was spotless and the grounds were plush. We enjoyed glasses of wine in the large open green space overlooking Kona and the Pacific Ocean. In the morning we enjoyed freshly brewed coffee made from Lisa’s roasted beans from her coffee shed. That sweet screen porch was the perfect spot to read a book and enjoy that coffee. Just down the road is a fabulous restaurant. The Kitchen (for short) has a live band the first Friday of the month. We adored our stay in this VRBO as we felt we were able to absorb the culture of Hawaii better than if we stayed in a typical condo or hotel. Thank you, Lisa and Emma for making our anniversary a special one! Mahalo!

A slice of paradise

We had a wonderful stay at the Bungalow. Our host, Lisa was clear and easy to communicate about check-in. The entire property is full of amazing plant and wildlife and stellar views. There was a lovely history about the bungalow itself and the property along with some snacks and coffee that is roasted right on the property waiting for us when we checked in which made us feel even more at home. Don’t hesitate to book here because you won’t be disappointed.

Country retreat close to town

A peaceful cottage to return to after the day’s adventures. Beautiful place to watch the sunset from the great lawn. There are gentle sounds from the nearby animal life that charmed us. It was the perfect thing away from tourist central.

Unique little place

The cottage has a cool, unique history. It was comfortable for the two of us, and its location was perfect for the activities we chose. The view from the huge lawn area was superb and peaceful. Lisa was very nice, vry helpful and accommodating. I'm looking forward to trying some of the coffee we brought home that she roasts on the property. We really enjoyed our stay.

magical escape to nature

I planned this trip as a birthday celebration and also to help ground myself and sooth my nervous system toward the end of the election cycle. The cottage was really sweet and had everything I needed, the grounds were a wonderland with expansive views, and the chickens, cats and dogs were fun, ambient energies. Highly recommend.

Great honeymoon resting place!

We were so excited to stay at this unique cottage on our honeymoon trip to the Big Island. We loved that it was different from most other places to stay and off the beaten path. Lisa greeted us and was very nice and helpful. We were able to cook a couple simple meals which we enjoyed on the lanai or yard with an amazing view. The cottage had everything we needed for exploring the island. We also found some fruit on trees around the property when we explored. The only issue we had was with the shower. We sometimes couldn’t get hot water and when it was hot, it had low pressure. It didn’t ruin our trip but it was annoying.

Home away from home

The best thing that any traveler can say about where they stay for vacation is that it felt like home. The cottage definitely made us feel like we belonged there. It met every need and had the character that we look for. It was special.

Scenic, artistic getaway, above busy Kona

We loved Lisa’s cozy cottage It was such a beautiful setting with tropical plants everywhere!. All the details in a small space were well thought out. The kitchen had all you needed to prepare a fine meal. The bath room was roomy, with plenty of towels. The bed was quite comfortable. I loved the small porch and the spacious outdoor lawn and overlook, perfect for morning coffee. it was a plus having a washer and dryer in a.covered garage. This space was also a covered space for a car. I loved all the little touches in color choices and art.it was close to a small town which you could carefully walk to, or drive if you wish. I liked the chickens and the frogs at night. Perfect for two. Lisa was a perfect host she met us but gave us space to be on our own. She also said goodbye and gave recommendations for our further travel.

A great place to stay

Very comfortable, loved the location, great to be a few degrees cooler than in town, enjoyed the sunsets from the garden. The restaurant in the village was great. Thanks Lisa and Emma and the chickens!!

Lovely stay in Holualoa

My husband and I had a wonderful week stay at Lisa’s cottage. It’s a beautiful location surrounded by lush plantings with an expansive view of the ocean from the great lawn. We drank our delicious Kona Blue Sky coffee each morning from there and watched the sunset over the ocean in the evenings. The cute villlage of Holualoa is just up the road and it’s so nice to be above the business of Kailua—Kona while still being close to everything. Hope to return!

Hale Akala is a special piece of Kona.The main home was built in 1895, the cottage in the 1930s by Manuel Silveira Goularte, a Portuguese rancher who raised his thirteen children here. It was utilized by cowboys of the neighboring Greenwell family's Palani Ranch to re-supply and feed ranch-hands in the 1920 and 30s. Abandoned and left to the elements before WWII, it was eventually purchased by Christian's grandparents, William and Margaret of Honolulu, in 1945. Wanting to retire to Kona (where Margaret's great-grandparents Reverend Asa and Lucy Thurston--part of the company of first Christian missionaries to the Islands who arrived in Kailua-Kona, the seat of Hawaii's ruling Kamehameha reign, in 1820 and lived until the 1860s) they chose the cool uplands of Holualoa. Hale Akala has been in the family for four generations. A few cattle roam the surrounding acres of pasture and you'll hear an occasional bull bellowing from nearby Palani Ranch, in the quiet evening hours.
