The house was clean and in a convenient location. The kitchen & bathrooms were stocked with plenty for 5 people. The hot tub was locked and no response from the management company. The WIFI did not work the entire time, I contacted the number provided but got disconnected every time.

Truckee holiday

The good: Excellent communication by the team even when my email had problems. Cabin just as nice and comfortable as photos indicated. Felt remote but only 5 min from a nice downtown with nice restaurants and shops. Waaayyyy less traffic than anywhere around Lake Tahoe proper. The not so good: Some pots and pans needed washing, cutlery drawer has 40 spoons and three forks in an unorganized mess. Placemats in drawer to the right of the trash had gross food residue, we left them in the laundry room. Only real disappointed: shower heads in the (very nice) master bath basically didn't work. Overhead shower-head nozzles were badly clogged and shower hand-wand was useless. Fix the shower and this is an easy 5 star place to stay.

Low quality bed

Everything about this property was great except the bed. My husband and I didn’t sleep well on the older mattress in the master bedroom. It was obviously worn out and has lost all it’s cushioning. Our shoulders and hips went between pain and numbness by morning. It’s time to replace it. I can’t speak to the other beds in the house bc I didn’t try them.

Great, well appointed, cozy home

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home really is beautifully appointed from furniture and fixtures to cooking utensils, (Minus fry pans :( ) The gas fireplace put out good warmth and added to the ambiance with the push of a button! The beds were also very comfortable and remodeled bathrooms beautiful and earthy. My only complaint is that the living space is dark. I am big on natural light or light in general which the room only gets early in the morning. It would help if there were canisters lights or something in the ceiling but there was only one stand up lamp and one couch lamp with minimal light. In the winter that is a problem but during summer if you are playing outside all day that shouldn't be a problem! other than that, GREAT house

Truckee getaway

The cabin was just as comfortable and stylish as the photos and description indicated. Excellent, isolated location but only five minutes from nice downtown with shops, restaurants and bars with live music. Communication from property management was excellent, as they found workarounds when my email went offline. Kitchen cookware should have been cleaner, and the showerheads in the very nice master bath are badly in need of maintenance or replacement. Fortunately the hallway bath has a nice shower too. Wash the pots'n'pans and fix the shower heads and there's no reason not to give 5 stars. Overall a great place to stay.

A Truckee Treat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved our stay here at this cozy and stylish cabin! A couple mishaps (water was not on when we arrived which we turned on ourselves, and the water heater was not turned up for which we called property management to fix, the master toilet was severely clogged for a day) but those things would not deter us from choosing to rent this property again the future. We felt like the house had more than enough comfortable amenities and class for our family and we look forward to returning.

Compact, well located, in need of serious tweaking.

This is the second time we have rented this house. It is generally well appointed, well located, accepts dogs, and is one of the smaller Tahoe-Donner properties and thus more suitable and affordable for a couple than most are. It is nicely laid out, but definitely in need of tweaking before we rent it again. The first time we rented it, we immediately had to call for further cleaning: all horizontal surfaces including the blinds were thick with dust, and this at high allergy season. The second time it was spotless, except that the area rugs and bedroom carpeting were (are) disgustingly dirty, in need of deep cleaning or more probably replacement. I also had to wash the MBR duvet cover that was absolutely grimy and turned out actually to have a patterned texture you could feel once the filth was washed out of it. For the hefty cleaning and pet fees the place should be spotless. And speaking of pets, we are very, very responsible owners. Not everyone is. I had to pick up roughly eight poops on the property that previous tenants had neglected. For the fee charged, one should certainly still be careful, but staff should also have a look around. We don't want to track in messes. The kitchen is good, the stove great. But: A teakettle would be a very basic addition. A small transistor radio seems not only desirable but a basic safety feature in this climate. A kitchen that lacks even salt--two shakers but no salt--should be ashamed of itself. The instructions for the main TV are incomplete. I could never get it to come on and had to watch the French Open finals crouched under a bunk bed in the kiddies' room. Many people who go on vacation like to read. The living room is severely, severely--did I say severely?-- under-wattaged, leaving only the bedrooms to read in. There is a deliciously tempting jet tub in the MBR bath. I wasted a full tub of water because I could not get it hot enough. I know there's a drought, but as a single occupant this time who had had an exhausting day, I thought I'd indulge. The boiler apparently can only pump out so much hot water before finking out. It's possible with filling in stages for two or more bodies, that a satisfactory water level could be achieved. Then and only then might you light the provided candle.

Maybe the square footage is small, but the layout is fantastic and we never felt the place was too small for us. We were 3 adults and 3 kids staying for 8 days. St. Bernard Place is clean, well equipped and clutter free. We would love to stay here again.

We did have a little bit of an issue with the driveway which is kind of steep. Even with chains, the minivan never made it up the driveway. We really enjoyed the house and the management company was on top of everything. We would book again if someone else had not leased it for the remainder of the ski season. :(

Nice getaway

Reviewer Comments: I have rented in tahoe donner for several year now and am very firmilier with the area. The location of this home is great.. The home was a great size for our group of five adults. It's shows great , the furnishings are nice and the beds were really comfortable. The kitchen was equipped very well.. A few minor items such as the pull out for garbage cabinet ( difficult to close) and front door glass screen ( needs to be replaced). Also one item to note, interior stairs to garage very steep so if you have small children bring a safety gate..otherwise we had a wonderful week and would definitely rent this home again..

It is a gorgeous house, with great appliances and finishes throughout. We loved the mountain decor too.
