Beautiful home with ocean views

Good sized family home with three bedrooms, all en-suite, and separate half bath. The house sits on a large lot with a mature tropical garden. It has a comfortable combined internal living/ dining/ kitchen and a large covered terrace with additional lounge and dining areas, including a barbecue. This is a beautiful area for relaxing in comfort, with a usual nice breeze and ceiling fans when needed, and where we spend most of our time.There is a nice outdoor pool with adjacent paved (coralina) patio with sun loungers and an outdoor shower.

Absolutely Beautiful

An amazingly gorgeous house with a great view and lovely garden. Super close to Samara and Playa Carillo. We loved the patio out front - it was a great place to hang out and watch wildlife or just sit and read. We would definitely go back!

We absolutely loved our week at Casa Margarita!

We were five adults, 2 couples and one daughter and everyone had their own comfortable room and bathroom. The daytime temperature was perfect outside on the expansive deck and the wildlife was amazing. Howler monkeys in the the morning and countless birds. We had not mosquitoes at all! The house is so well-equipped that we could not have asked for more amenities. Thank you for creating a wonderful retreat!

Loved it

We stayed in the shoulder season and the property is great. Everything you might need. The property manager is wonderful. Not really walkable to the beach imo (down a long steep hill then a busy road) but we rented cars so it was fine. Easy parking in Samara at least when we were there. Clean pool. No A/C in the living area when we were there but if you leave the doors from the air conditioned bedrooms open enough air gets to the living area to make it not quite cool, but pleasant enough. Lots of character in the architecture and well kept grounds. Great!

Samara Vacation Home

I have rented this house for extended times (approximately 5 months total) during 3 different trips since 2013. It sits in a comfortable small neighborhood of foreign nationals and with native Costa Rican houses mixed in on the outskirts of the neighborhood. Its location is a 20 minute walk to an undeveloped part of Playa Samara or a 5 minute drive to Samara's restaurants and shops. The property location also allows for a 10 minute drive to the beautiful undeveloped Playa Carrillo. It comes as advertised and is ideal for simple vacationing at an affordable price. A great feature of the house is the elevated patio to enjoy simple entertaining , watching wild life in the yard or enjoying the view. It is very interesting watching the living habits of the multiple bird species and iguanas in the yard. Bring your binoculars! Occasionally you can view howler monkeys and you certainly hear them during multiple parts of the days. The favorite parts of staying here occur out on the patio watching wildlife , enjoying early morning breakfast and the evening to view the night sky or watch storms. I would recommend this house to anyone that is looking for a reasonably priced , comfortable , fully equipped rental. In my 3 years coming here it is my first choice in the area when looking for an affordable , air conditioned house with a pool. The owners, Peter and Maggie, have been very accommodating and responsive. They provide local property management if you require immediate assistance.

Beautiful Samara

We had such a lovely holiday in Samara. Great hosts, this is a fantastic house in a wonderful location. We loved the wildlife, nature and tranquility. Restaurants in town were great and the beaches are fantastic. Thank you for a great holiday.

A great spot to visit Samara

We stayed at Casa Margarita with our 2 children aged 6 and 8. The house was great for exploring Samara and the local area. It was clean and well maintained, plus as it’s used as a second home it had everything you could need. The pool was lovely and we saw howler monkeys in the trees in the back garden. 4 x 4 recommended to get to the property (as is needed in most parts of Costa Rica!). You can just about see the sea from behind the palm trees! Overall this was great value and proved to be a good base for our family! Communication with Peter (property owner) and Maria (property manager located in Samara who also organises tours and who managed to arrange for us to sea turtles laying eggs near Nosara - amazing!) was great. Would recommend!

Great house for families!

We loved the house in Playa Samara. The visiting monkeys, scorpions, and army ants were the highlights for my kids! They love nature and we enjoyed all the crazy animals and insects. We especially enjoyed the walk to the top of Caille Santo Domingo. It's an amazing view and very good exercise. We were happy to have chosen a four wheel drive as it was needed with tired kids and heavy afternoon rains.

Beautiful Hillside Jungle Home

While it was a little awkward to get to (I suggest a 4x4 for the steep dirt section of the road), the location came totally as advertised, a peaceful jungle home surrounded by wild life. We heard howler monkeys every day and had a family of them overhead one morning during coffee hour! There were also lots of geckos, frogs and other friendly animal visitors to the property. The rooms were large and each had their own bathroom with A/C. The home was well equipped with everything we needed and has a fun jungle themed decor throughout - the perfect vibe for our vacation. The huge patio was our favourite location to relax and enjoy the surroundings with food and beverages. The property managers were friendly and responsive. While this home is close to town, it would not be an easy walk due to being on the hillside, but was a quick drive in. The town was full of vendors and shopping and restaurants. We recommend Roots Bakery for breakfast! There is also Wingnuts ziplining at the bottom of the hillside driveway which we took advantage of and the whole family had a blast.

Very nice, quiet and comfortable mid range house

The house is surrounded by trees and is very quiet except for the sounds of birds chirping and the occasional monkey. You can see a little bit of a view of the ocean, but it is not really a beach view property. The house is not luxurious, but it is nicely decked out and all the furniture is very comfortable. The kitchen has a good selection of pots/pans/cutlery/plates/appliances. The owner mentioned they spend a number of months a year there, so everything was bought for them to use, and is not of just of the 'cheap rental quality' that you see sometimes. The property is a little far from the beach and the town. I would not recommend staying here if you do not have access to a car. The walk down to the beach is about 12 minutes or so, but walking back up the hill to the property took us about 20 minutes. After day one we drove to the beach. If you wish to go into town you'd have to walk down to the beach, then along the beach to the town which would be another 15 minutes or so. It's about a 5 minute drive to town from the house. There is no air conditioning in the main room, but there are fans and at least when i stayed there was a nice breeze so this wasn't an issue. The internet was a fiber connection and was fast and reliable (i had to work while I was there). The property manager, nick, was always available and was very helpful with any questions we had. The house is pet friendly and myself, my friend and my two dogs enjoyed our stay immensely there.

Beautiful spacious house

Perfect house rental while staying in Sámara for a week. Quiet and safe neighborhood. Spacious and clean. Lots of wildlife and Howler monkeys in the trees almost everyday. My favorite was the covered front porch area with great lounge furniture and table. One can hear the ocean waves from there. Though the trees have grown up and the ocean is not as visible in the distance. Town is only a 3-4 minute drive and I would recommend having a vehicle for staying at this house. Lots of great restaurants. Perfect distance from the noise and bustle of town while still being close. The house is also only a 5 minute drive to the best beach in the area, Playa Carillo. We went there almost everyday to swim. I would highly recommend this place. Pura Vida!

A family retreat with some surfing thrown in (not couchsurfing!)

The house is a very well maintained spacious residence that is easily accessible by car but far enough away from town to be quiet and removed from any bustle. You feel as if you are living in the country. Besides spending time at the nearby beach, our family of four used the swimming pool, hung out a lot on the comfortable porch with the bbq, and basically enjoyed ourselves to the fullest. Each bedroom room has its own a/c controls which is helpful depending upon how members of your party can be affected by humidity depending upon what time of year you visit. Because you are living in a tropical environment, don't be surprised to find a geckos and small frogs inside the house at various times. There was a resident horse that came to browse on the lawn one day. Finally, if you want to learn to surf which two members of our family did, my wife and 17 year son, please check out Tico Mae Retreats ~ Instructor James Flores is a locally known professional who grew up there but now lives full-time in the States. Enjoy yourself! There is a local manager who came by to refill the propane tank, and insure our stay was going well. It is all part of the charm that comes with visiting such a magical place as Samara, Costa Rica.

We bought the site in 2006 and had our home constructed in 2007. Since our retirement we spend about 5 months of each year in Samara and the remainder at our home in Scotland. Our usual routine is about 2 months in Samara before Christmas, back to Scotland for Christmas/ New Year with our family and then back in January for 3 months. It is a fabulous place to escape the Scottish winters and we both love Samara and its residents very much.

Casa Margarita is located outside of Samara but is very convenient for access to the Samara amenities (about 5 minutes by car). Being located on a hillside it usually enjoys a lovely breeze and being away from the main road is very peaceful. The covered terrace is a great place to sit and watch the local bird life and animal life.
