Ubicado a minutos del mundialmente famoso Parque Algonquin en el hermoso lago Oxtongue. Esta casa de campo se encuentra ubicado en los pinos maduros en muchos niveles y sólo 30 ft. De la orilla del agua. Disfrute de un día en el muelle mientras los niños nadan y juegan a lo largo de la costa poco profunda.

Capacidad para 8 personas. La casa principal cuenta con dos habitaciones con cama queen y dos camas individuales, cocina completa, baño y sala de estar. El Bunkie (que se encuentra aún más cerca del agua) cuenta con dos dormitorios con una cama de matrimonio y literas completo, así como sala de estar.

Equipado con una sola canoa y dos kayaks. Grande para sus aventuras de remo en Oxtongue Lake, donde usted es sólo un corto paleta para escénica de Ragged Falls Provincial Park.

Ubicado a tres horas de Toronto, ya sólo 30 minutos del centro de Huntsville. Una tienda que está a cinco minutos a pie y Algonquin Outfitters se encuentra a 10 minutos a pie. Hacer esta casa su escapada de verano de la familia perfecta!

This home is exactly that - a home. It was the perfect back drop for our family vacation. Bridget is an absolutely wonderful host, as well as her husband. The spaces were spotless, timeless, and extremely cozy. We easily accommodated 1 senior, and 4 adults. (with room for more if needed!) We're sad to leave but are immensely grateful for the memories we made at Bridget's cottage! We can't thank you enough for sharing your slice of Heaven with us.

The cottage is perfectly positioned on the east side of the lake giving us the ability to catch the early morning sunrise from the deck and take magnificent photos. The variety of watercraft (canoe, kayaks and paddle boards) offers options depending on one's knowledge of how to use the craft and on the distance a person wants to travel on the lake, whether across from west to east and back, across and around the far small island, or even do full circle top to bottom.The host answered our questions and responded quickly to any needs. We only had one complaint in that the listing showed that linen is provided; however, there were only large bath towels, no hand towels or face cloths. We suggest that the small floor mat in front of the sliding glass door off the dining area to the deck be replaced with a non-slip style mat as the one provided is very slippery.We look forward to booking this property again next summer.

We've had the opportunity to rent many cottages over the years and Freddies is by far the nicest one we have stayed at. The hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond. The cottage is tucked away on a quiet lakefront road. It's clean and comfortable, with a very nice open concept layout. The kitchen is well equipped and has quality appliances. There is a nice little sand beach for littles ones to play, with a gentle slope to the water. The dock offers a great view of the lake which is really quite beautiful. The cottage is very well located. A relatively easy canoe trip to the bottom of Ragged Falls (a must see) or a quick drive to see this spectacle, 10 minutes to Algonquin Park, even less to Dwight. Don't miss the 2 bakeries (Henrietta's and Erikas) in Dwight, nor Tristan's Tasty Eatz, an unassuming food truck. And if shopping and restaurants are your thing, the quaint Village of Huntsville is only 25 minutes away.

Relaxing vacation

We really loved everything about Freddie's cottage - the location, the private access to the lake, the kitchen equipment, cozy bedrooms and the amazing smell of the soft towels were the highlights. We had an unforgettable first vacation with our new baby boy and his furry sister!

Lovely cottage

Our family had a lovely holiday on Oxtongue Lake. The cottage and bunkie were cozy, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped. There was ample outdoor seating so we could enjoy meals outdoors and lounging on the dock. We really enjoyed the kayaking. The lake is beautiful. It is a great place to vacation.

Great Family Getaway

My family and I enjoyed a great week at Freddies. Our grandchildren loved the beach and spent many hours of fun playing in the water. The adults enjoyed using the paddle boards and kayaks to explore the lake. The cottage is stocked with everything you need and Will is a great host! Would highly recommend.

Our stay was great! The cottage was cozy, clean and comfy and the kitchen had everything you need. Very stylish! The big kids stay up late in the bunkie playing board games.The variety of water sports was great so everyone could explore the lake together. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Beautiful Cottage

We stayed at this beautiful cottage recently for a weekend getaway. Check in instructions were clear and process was smooth. The cottage is beautiful and very well stocked with everything you need for a weekend away. We had a wonderful weekend filled with boating, swimming, campfires and pure relaxation. We would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a weekend away.

Cozy lake retreat

We loved Freddie’s! The main cottage was amazing. Very well appointed kitchen, the best we have ever had to be honest! Cozy and comfortable. The boys loved having the bunkie to themselves at night. The location for us was fabulous and we just loved the lake. The paddle boards got a lot of use for sure. We will be back again! Thank you so much for hosting our first cottage vacation since 2020!

Freddie’s is such a lovely cottage. Will and Bridget were very communicative and responsive. The place was very clean, had the best stocked kitchen (small appliances, cooking utensils, crockery etc) of any rental I have ever stayed at. Our only disappointment was the indoor fire was not useable. However we had lovely outdoor fires. The cottage is located next to a resort, which was fine for us, not too loud at all. It’s east facing so get got the most stunning sunrises and moonrises

Summer getaway with kids

We had a lovely stay at Freddie's in July 2023. The cottage and bunkie are well kept and clean. There are all the amenities that you want at a cottage and other nearby activities, like the rapids and the beach. The only surprise to us was how close the neighboring cottages are and how busy the lake is. That being said, the property is private. Perfect cottage for our summer vacation and super fun for our kiddos! We'd love to visit again!

Perfection on Oxtongue Lake

Our two-week stay on Oxtongue Lake was truly perfect in every way! The cottage itself, along with the beautiful bunkie, are EXACTLY as pictured on the site and extremely well stocked. Everything is immaculately clean and updated. Kitchen is well stocked and all is in perfect working order. The property is very pretty, especially during leaf season! Close to the neighbouring property, but private in every single way because of the layout of the property. We loved every aspect of our Canadian fall visit and hope to return soon!

Fantastic cottage week!

Freddies was everything we hoped for when we booked it. The cottage was so cozy, comfortable and very clean, we didn't want to leave! We had access to both the main cottage and the bunkie which was perfect for our group - 2 families each with one child. The cottage is extremely well stocked and organized with all the cooking essentials as well as books, puzzles and games. The living space was really cozy for rainy days and the beds were also very comfortable. We loved the beach area and the dock and took advantage of the paddle boards, kayaks and canoes. The cottage is so close to Algonquin park that we were able to do some day hikes as well. Bridget and Will were very responsive, we were never left waiting for an answer on anything we asked. We loved our time at Freddies and hope to book again for next year!

"Stay as is"

Pictures are misleading, neither building are easily accessible for anyone who uses walker/cane. Besides the main bedroom being spacious - the other ones had inches to move around. There was a foul smell that came from the sinks and from the toilet 's (which had brown water). The grill was VERY old and could use an upgrade. The "bunk house" had a musty smell and some sort privacy for each doorway would have been nice. The dock was nice and so was the dinner table.

Thank you for your feedback. Our cleaners did not mention any sort of smell coming from drains/sinks and upon inspection from a septic company, we have found there to be no issues the septic system. Freddie’s is a cozy cottage, and at no point do we claim to be otherwise. Our rooms are small, but equipped with fresh linens, and comfortable beds. We believe our photos illustrate the size of Freddie’s appropriately, as well as the cottage’s accessibility. The bbq was replaced 2020 and the grills are replaced annually. Freddie’s is a true cottage, and our hope is that it is enjoyed and appreciated for what it is. A beautiful, clean, well appointed spot for families to enjoy as we have.

“A Little Bit of Heaven”

“Freddie’s”This is a wonderful place to spend a vacation! It is as advertised and more! We will definitely book this for our family again)!!!!!We loved the cottage and bunkie, the property and proximity to the amazing lake with sandy bottom.The cottage is well equipped both in the cottage and outside. Lots of water toys - boats etc. the fire pit well set up for evening gatherings around the fire under the stars.Even though it is close to a quiet cottage area it is very private with tall trees and a well manicured property.The area and town of Dwight has lots of options for shopping for dining necessities - Henrietta Baker a must for out of the world delicious pastries and Dwight’s Market and Pharmacy (fresh baked breads, fresh produce and a great fresh butchered meats - steaks were so delicious and tender- and more).If you are thinking of renting in this area you need to consider this cottage,Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven - we will return. You gave us lots of wonderful memories

Beautiful place

We had a great time at this beautiful place! It is ideally situated between Algonquin Park and Huntsville on a quiet, relaxing lake. The small town of Dwight is a quick drive for supplies if you didn’t want to go to all the way to Huntsville (which is only 20-25 minutes away). The cottage and bunkie were clean, beautifully decorated and perfectly appointed. The kitchen was wonderfully organized & stocked with everything we needed and then some! We brought more than we needed to (all we really needed to bring was food and clothes). The lake is clean, sandy and shallow near the shore. Ideal for children and dogs. We really appreciated the flat lawn with a fire pit after having stayed at a cottage with multiple sets of stairs to get down to the water. We made use of the canoes, kayaks and paddle boards, all provided with the property. Definitely would recommend staying at Freddie’s to family and friends. Perfect family summer cottage time!

Our advise: We didn’t know there were kids kayaks there, so we brought our own. Also we brought bikes for the kids, since it’s on a quiet road. There were lots of fans, so we didn’t miss ac.Wonderful lake view. Lots of indoor toys for all. We love the quietness of the lake.

This cottage was purchasd by my wife and I in 2013, one year after we were married. I was born and raised in Burlington, Ontario while my wife was born and raised in Huntsville. We met working summer jobs and that was it. After school I made the decision to move to Huntsville permanently. We fell in love, travelled, worked, saved, and got married at Hillside Farm just outside Huntsville in 2012.

In the fall of 2012 my father became ill with cancer and passed in February. He provided for my wife and I enough for the down payment on this cottage. The previous owners had it in the family for 25 years and they felt it was time to pass it on. My wife and I look forward to making it a family treasure for generations to come. My dad's name was Fred so this cottage has been appropriately named after him as "Freddie's"

It is a much loved family cottage, where you don't have to worry about sandy feet and wet bathing suits. We hope that our guests will find as much joy and serenity at Freddie's as we have.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Growing up in Burlington, Ontario I started coming up to Algonquin park as a teenager. I worked at Algonquin Outfitters, guiding trips, driving trucks and working in the backshop. I always dreamed of what it would be like to own a cottage on Oxtongue Lake. When this property came up for sale we new instantly that this was the cottage we had been looking for.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

This piece of property is unlike so many others. The cottage is only steps from the beautiful sandy shoreline, and the bunkie (the reason we fell in love with this property) is even closer! It is the perfect cottage for families with young ones. My wife and I have sat on the dock and enjoyed many sunrises with our coffee. The perfect way to start the day!
The next best thing is it's proximity to TWO provincial parks. We have enjoyed the 40 minute paddle to spectacular Ragged Falls right from the end of our dock. And sometimes we will jump in the car and drive a few minutes to World Famous Algonquin Park. This park is filled with day hikes, beaches, falls, so many chances to see wildlife, you name it!
