Esta casa de campo clásica de 3 dormitorios y 3 1/2 baños se encuentra justo frente al mar en el área de solo 4 ruedas al norte de Corolla. Traiga a sus perros (hasta 2) sin costo adicional. Vea los impresionantes amaneceres desde su terraza delantera en la mañana, y vea a los caballos salvajes vagar por la playa desde su terraza privada.

El condado de Currituck instaló un sistema de permisos de estacionamiento para la playa Carova. No se requieren permisos para conducir en la playa para acceder a la casa, sin embargo, se necesitan si planea estacionarse en la orilla para utilizar la playa entre el 24 de mayo y el 2 de septiembre. Fabulous OBX getaway house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our group really enjoyed our stay at Rankin! The house is in a great location overlooking the beach, and the main deck and upstairs decks provided quite a vantage point for watching beach traffic-(esp. close to high tide), surf fishing, and horses. While we were there, several groups of horses strolled down the beach, grazed in the dunes near the house, and even “clomped” on the walkway beneath the home. There is a view from every single window in the house, and it is well-appointed with kitchen supplies: there are plentiful plates, bowls, glasses, and cookware. There is even a drawer filled with crab crackers. The kitchen counters are unique and stunning, and we were glad that many trivets are available to protect them.One member of our group needed to work remotely one day, and noted that the internet is very slow. We noticed this, as well. One caution for those who have dogs: one of ours alerted us to a ‘TomCat’ mouse bait in the corner of the deck by the grill. If ingested, these can be fatal for pets.

The house has everything you need, with a fabulous kitchen for those of us who like to cook. We really appreciated having a filtered water system and drinking water cooler, plus a separate small fridge for the beer drinkers among us. More importantly, we loved seeing the wild horses that visited the surrounding area and yard one morning. They are absolutely beautiful!The only downsides we experienced were a lot of construction traffic on the beach (but that's all along the 4X4 stretch these days) and the sand strip out front becomes almost non-existent at high tide. So, timing is everything if you need to go somewhere. We preferred staying put to enjoy the ocean view, walk the beach and experience spectacular nature off the grid.

AMAZING House!!

Great house, perfect location! Walking into that house and seeing the ocean and beach right outside the windows! The house is perfect, all the bedrooms have bathrooms and the main living area is open and comfortable. The furnishings were all comfortable, very important! You might find that perfect house in the perfect location but if the beds hurt your back and the sofas and chairs make you miserable, it doesn’t matter how perfect the house is! We were surprised at the amount of traffic on the beach, and I mean trucks zipping by, passing each other! We have been to 4x4 beaches before but we have never been to a place where the beach is actually the road! That coupled with the amount of construction going on further up the beach made for treacherous conditions on the beach, especially at quitting time for the construction workers! But we knew in advance that there would be vehicles on the beach so it doesn’t seem fair to complain about it. However, I will really complain about the cleanliness of the house, needs work!! Love it, hope to come back soon!

A Thrill of a Lifetime

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have always wanted to rent a place on the beach. This house is that! It was a 1-2 minute walk from inside the house to the water, depending on where the tide was. All three bedrooms are master suites, so all my family was happy. The only bad part was the bed linens and mattress covers. My bed was very comfortable but the mattress cover was ripped to shreds and rustled - a lot! The sheets were very thin and did not fit the beds properly. This made for uncomfortable nights.We still thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the beds and would recommend it to friends, but advise them to bring their own sheets.

Rankin Stay 9.16-23.23

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 4th time at Rankin house, hopefully not the last. However few things to take note. Water was off outside of needing to shower could not be used, was salted and needed bottles to cook and clean with. Few other things need to be addressed; kitchen window screen torn not able to open due to that. upstairs faucet, runs if not shut off in just the right position which took some finesse, downstairs bedroom toilet runs a bit. Linen service- more towels would be great only one bath towel per person forces laundry and the sheets are not great, couple pillowcases were torn and not enough to cover each pillow in one bedroom any way. screen door in upstairs bedroom off track, called in but no one came out we needed to fix ourselves, thankfully we could so that we could enjoy the door being open. All in all just some Maintenace things to be addressed, would not deter me from returning a 5th time as location is primo!! Realty staff did respond quickly and was polite.

Amazing location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is amazingly situated at the top of the dune so beach access was easy and views were amazing. We enjoyed the house and well-stocked kitchen. The house is nicely laid out with private and public spaces flowing well to accommodate everyone. Overall, all the kitchen needs a thorough cleaning of every cupboard, drawer, pot and pan but those are things we could easily manage while we were there without effecting our stay. The driveway can accommodate two vehicles but was a little tight to avoid congestion if both vehicles weren't leaving at the same time. But the house and views made it well worth a little strategic maneuvering. We started planning our next trip to the house while we were there!

Home needs a good cleaning!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I have rented this home multiple times due to it's amazing location. The last 2 years the home has been dirty to the point we have cleaned prior to unpacking. The bathrooms this year had urine on the toilet seats and dried toothpaste in the sinks. The dust throughout the house was horrible! The vent in the kitchen is disgusting with lots of dust and grease. Was nice to see the carpet had at least been sweep this year! We had 6 guest in the home this year and were only left 3 large towels and 6 washcloths. House keeping did bring additional large towels later in the evening, but this was after we had all showered as no one could give me a timeframe of when we may expect more towels. We never did get any hand towels. If location was not so important to my family and I we would be looking for a home managed by Twiddy, as this home was MUCH cleaner when managed by them.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was good but a few things really missing! 1. Not enough guest towels. 2. No dish towels 3. For the amount of money spent toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, zip lock bags, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, dish soap should be supplied. 4. Need to get rid of the poison oak on the back/stairs we had grandkids so we were very cautious. Otherwise the house was stocked appropriately. The view incredible! The beach incredible! Long drive on the beach to get there though. The wide horses were amazing.

Beautiful Beach

You Can't get any closer to the beach! We loved watching the sun come up and the evening walks on the beach. The seafood was delicious, we did not want to leave! The house was clean and had all the basics sheets, towels and dishes pots and pans. No spices or paper products. We would love to come back.

We did not have one complaint of “I’m bored!The house was clean and well stocked for anything that you may need. A week in paradise...well, almost.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Of course The Rankin is the premiere spot on the 4x4 OBX. The location cannot get any better. The home is well stocked with everything you need to enjoy a week at the beach. The quality and selection of pits and pans and Rubbermaid is worth a mention! Also worth mentioning: the lack of cleaning, dust on every solid surface, hairs in the bathroom on all hard surfaces, no vacuuming done that we could see. The sliding glass door and screw door off the kitchen are in some dire need of service. They are very hard to slide and quite frankly, I felt like ripping the screen right off the track several times! Our trash was never picked up on Wednesday or any other day fir that matter. And the fact that a parking pass is not included in the rental is a huge downer.

Rare remote opportunity to stay among the wild horses

Reviewer Comments: I would definitely recommend arriving in daytime - driving on beach to reach the house was a little nerve wrecking and I would not attempt at night. We had herds of wild horses on our dunes almost every day. Extremely charming and unique location. 4WD beach got a little to busy with cars on weekend to feel comfortable with our little ones on beach.

Beautiful house with direct beach access

The house was beautiful and located mere steps from the beach. One of very few homes with private beach access. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you could need. (Remember to bring your own dish soap and hand soap.) There were nice extra touches throughout the home, including lots of books to read, board games and puzzles, beach chairs and boogie boards. Each bedroom had its own master bathroom which was a nice surprise. The horses visited several times throughout the week - practically on the back porch! We also saw dolphins several times during our visit. We did notice some of the things others have mentioned. We had some difficulty opening and closing the sliding door. And we experienced the bugs on our last day. (Be careful opening the door after dark because the swarm will enter quickly!) We had a leaky kitchen faucet which hopefully was replaced prior to the next guest arrival. The most comical discovery was that all bedroom lights/ceiling fans were controlled by remotes which in turn controlled all other bedroom lights/fans. So if someone on the first floor turns their light off, someone upstairs will find themselves suddenly plunged in darkness. We gave up on the ceiling lights and used lamps. :) The only other item I feel I should mention is the 4WD beach. Having never been to the OBX before, or the 4WD beach before, we didn't know what to expect. This beach definitely belongs to the vehicles and they are quick to remind you of that. Vehicles do not slow down or move away for people trying to sit or play in the sand. I would not recommend this beach for anyone with small children. It's too easy for an excited child to dart across the sand in front of a speeding vehicle.
