Minster View es una elegante casa georgiana magníficamente ubicada en un área de conservación adyacente a las murallas de la ciudad en Bootham Bar, a solo 2 minutos a pie de York Minster y el bullicioso centro de la ciudad de York, con sus numerosos lugares de interés, cafeterías, restaurantes y boutiques.
Consta de 3 plantas de una casa de 4 plantas del siglo XVIII. (La planta baja es un quiropráctico y totalmente tranquila). Todas las ventanas tienen vistas a la catedral o Gillygate. Las habitaciones están elegantemente proporcionadas con techos altos y puertas y molduras originales.
Este elegante casa de vacaciones ha sido decorado y amueblado con gran cuidado y atención al detalle para combinar un estilo de época y muebles antiguos con el confort y la practicidad. Decoración y muebles son de un alto nivel y se han elegido con un ojo para el carácter y el ambiente. Vajilla, ropa de cama, etc. son de buena calidad y fueron seleccionados para complementar la decoración.

Really well situated Georgian town house within a few minuets walk of the Cathedral and 15 minutes of pretty much everywhere else we visited.There were negatives hence the rating of 3. The first floor with the living room and kitchen was cold. There is a tiny radiator in the front room which is nowhere near big enough for a large Georgian room with high ceilings It advertises a fireplace but if it was a working fireplace there was no coal or logs. The next floor with the four poster and single bed was very warm. The top floor with the two singles was extremely cold and was glad not to have to use that room. Could really do with an upgrade to the heating ie bigger radiators. The large four poster front bedroom is very noisy. It’s on a busy road with traffic lights about 20 meters away. Cars, buses and lorries are stopped with their engines idling all times of night and day and at the weekend this includes loud music from those on a night out. It’s also very close to a hospital and ambulances with their sirens add to the noise.The internet is weak and intermittent. Additionally, the listing said outside area. If there is then there is no visible access to it which myself or my sister could find. In summary, the location is great and if you went in warmer weather you would have no problem with heating. Take ear plugs for the front bedroom.

My (now adult) daughter & I have traveled all over North America & Europe, and yet, this flat was one of our top favorite stays anywhere. It was like staying with family. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. The location cannot be beat. We loved York and hope to return. What charm.

What a wonderful place to stay! The location couldn’t be any better, since the historic city center is just a short walk away.Managers Toby and Bee were great! Toby made sure we had all the information we would need before check-in, and Bee (who was lovely!) was kind enough to watch for our arrival.The townhouse is beautiful and a very comfortable size. We were so pleased that we chose this property.

Anna and John (owners) were very responsive to questions. Toby and his partner were equally quick to be in touch, both proactively and in response to queries. The home is wonderful - 4 beds, 3 bedrooms, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc. Also includes drying racks if you want things to dry the “natural” way. The place is delightfully historical, with old door hardware, windows that open but are a touch finicky, and stairs to be careful on, as well as a fully capable but older-looking microwave oven and stove. We had a wonderful stay in York at this charming townhouse. It had lots of room and oozed with character. The location was great, within easy walking distance to everything. The road noise was noticeable at the front but the back bedroom and top floor bedroom were quieter. The noise was not an issue for us.The kitchen was so inviting and was extremely well stocked. It felt like being at home. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

We enjoyed our stay in this quaint old house from which we could hear the York Cathedral bells chiming in the mornings and evenings. The beds were all comfortable and we all managed to sleep well. My favorite feature was the overhead grill in the kitchen. I had forgotten what wonderful toasted things you can easily make with them.

Great house in the absolut center of York

What a great place when you looking for accommodation nearby everything.View over the Citywalls and the Minster from the kitchenwindow, Great beds, little dishwasher is a plus, and out of the front door you are in the middle of it all.The house has everything you need. We will come again next time in York.PS: Opposite the house there is a little Libanon takeaway - the 3 chefs- absolutely great homemade food.The Fat badger pub, just around the corner, has a great terras in the backgarden just beside the Wall.Good pubfood: we absolutely recommend The Punchbowl (Stonegate 7). We have tried several others but without a doubt this was the best one.

The Minster View - York

Four of us stayed at this property and it was a good location. We could walk almost anywhere we wanted to go - shops, pubs, restaurants, tourist sites, etc. There was plenty of space for us. The rooms were also clean. Drawbacks however were the lack of parking as we had a car. Dropping off and picking up luggage was a challenge. The Wi-Fi was spotty and seemed to only work in the main living area if you were close to the modem. Also, the many steep stairs were a challenge for one of our group with knee issues and a walking cane. There was an issue with the heating which the host offered to resolve but the temperatures were warm enough that we did not need it.

Perfectly Placed & Great Value

My friends and i couldn't have been happier with this place and my rating is a reflection of expectations. The apartment is perfectly located just outside the city walls with everything in walking distance.It is clean and spacious, we loved relaxing in the front room (where if you forget your book you will have of plenty of choice!) and liked being able to pop in and out of town during the day.If you're looking for the corkscrew it IS in the cutlery drawer (it is the large bullet-shaped thing!)If you love cheese .. BEWARE ... Love Cheese just a few doors down the road is dangerous! (And also for lovely wines!) Read the reviews:The stairs to the upstairs room are steep, the front room is on a secondary road so there may be occasional sirens or noise (York IS a city) and the back rooms have a view of the Minster - so you will hear its bells .. which we loved waking up to. Highly recommend eatimg at Forest.

Great Location, comfortable apartment

Perfect place to explore York and locations farther afield, as the train station is just minutes away. We took full advantage of this feature for multiple day trips during our stay. Bus lines are also close by.If you’re traveling from the states, you’ll be very comfortable here. We spoke with a British family that was familiar with the place, and stays there on holiday, but that is a longer story lol.The view of York Minster is very cool, and you’re only a few minutes walk away. Many restaurants and pubs right outside your door - Tesco & Sainsbury are also close by.When we return, this is where we will try to stay.

Always a great stay

We've had another fabulous break at Minster View. The apartment is so central and has everything we need. The hosts are super communicative and provide lots of thorough information. I can't recommend Minster View enough.

We both have long links with Yorkshire. Anna was born in Hull and John has run marathons over pretty much all of it. We keep up our connection by spending some time every year here at Minster View in York. We really enjoy strolling round the city, we get to go to the arts cinema on the river on a near daily basis and we top up our marmite supplies. (If you're puzzled by the last point it's because we live in Granada in Spain the rest of the year.)
For us, spending time between Granada and York is pretty much perfect - and we know how lucky we are...

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

York is a great city for strolling, with everything easily accessible within a few minutes walk. We really like the fact it has so much history and the whole area within the city walls is full of boutique shops and people just generally having a good time. Because we are right in the centre we can pop out, have a look around, and then nip back for a cup of tea….. Perfect.
We also enjoy the wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafes nearby and Gillygate has some great indie shops. Walking in the nearby Botanic gardens and along the river is always a pleasure.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

What we love about Minster View is pretty much summed up in the name! We have views of York Minster from all of the rooms at the back of the house, at least in winter when there are less leaves. I particularly like looking at the Minster when doing the washing up. (Don't worry - we also have a dishwasher.)
We also enjoy people watching on Gillygate from the large bay window in the first floor sitting room.
We love that it is so central and that it is a Georgian property with lots of character.
