Great potential, not realized
This review may feel a little bipolar but there are things to enjoy at this property and things that need some attention.
The owner and her daughter, both Barbaras, are charming and very helpful in getting you set in the quarters and giving you suggestions on activities and places to visit. The property was landscaped very well by a very critical eye - it is beautiful. The location is great; very close to the main roads in and out of town.
Conversely, if you're looking for privacy, there isn't much since this rental is a wing of the house, not its own building. The owners are frequently wandering around outside your windows, as are maintnenance people; the 4 dogs on the property bark at all hours. The property is storm damaged; there are tarps covering the roof over the rental; you can clearly see outside through the ceiling in the queen size bedroom. Water was unavailable for most of the second and third day of our stay. The pool needed to be cleaned; the pump didn't ever seem to be on. It isn't 1200 sq. ft. unless you count the breezeway. There is no true dining space, TV is in the kitchen. The grill was inaccessible since that area was fenced off and had a huge pile of lumber from a collapsed structure.
The property description needs to be updated to clear up any indication that this rental is private; the storm damage needs to be fixed. Once these two things are complete, I believe this property will fill the needs of travellers looking for this type of accomodation.
