"Baha Mara" - Nueva Tarpum Bay Beachfront

No es solo un alquiler vacacional, sino una casa bellamente diseñada. Te encantará mi lugar porque está a 50 pies del mar con excelente snorkel y bombardeo. Mi lugar es bueno para parejas, amigos que viajan en grupo y familias (con niños). Construimos esta casa a medida en 2015. Es un gran lugar para quedarse o como base para explorar la isla. La mayoría de los huéspedes dicen que están felices de quedarse en la casa o en nuestra playa.

Tenemos una biodiversidad increíble justo en frente de la casa y es común ver rayas águilas, delfines, tortugas, tiburones juveniles, tiburones nodriza, pargos, mero, delfines, cangrejos de piedra y más.

Cerca del aeropuerto Rock Sound (15 minutos) y Governors Harbour (30 minutos). A 5 minutos de la pintoresca ciudad de Tarpum Bay. Hay un gran bar / restaurante local a pocos minutos, así como tiendas de comestibles y puestos de ensalada de caracolas.

The front door doesn’t have a good seal so if you are prone to bug bites, this is not the house for you. I had to wear long sleeves and long pants with socks pulled over them and still got bit at night by the noseeums. The house was ok but the cleaner came before checkout, let herself into the house which I felt was a safety risk and I had to ask her stay outside until 10am which was super awkward. Maybe just a one off based on other reviews but not a great experience.

My family and I travel internationally quite often, and we've stayed at a wide range of vacation rentals across the Bahamas and beyond. I can honestly say this property is one of our favorites.First and foremost, the location is ideal. Baha Mar is clean, safe, and tucked away on the quieter, more serene south end of the island. It’s perfect for anyone looking to escape the crowds and experience the natural beauty of Eleuthera in peace. While you won’t find big waves on this side of the island, you're just a short, scenic drive from Surfer’s Beach—one of the top-rated spots for catching waves and enjoying a more adventurous day by the ocean.What you do get right at the property is unbeatable access to calm, crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply floating and relaxing. The beach area is private with only one next door and a few more down the beach. It makes it feel like your own slice of paradise. The kids and I enjoyed exploring the shorelin, turtles, so many fish, and even sharks just off shore. Bring water shoes as it is rocky in places.The house itself is beautifully maintained, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. It’s spacious enough for families, with great communal areas to gather and enjoy meals, game nights, or just sit and take in the view. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we cooked and grilled out each night.If you're looking for a relaxing island getaway away from the crowds, this is it.

Great Eleuthera Rental!

This home was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The water was beautiful with all the different shades of blues and greens. We enjoyed visiting nearby Governor's Harbour. Joanna was great to work with, even giving us a great contact for a car rental. Kayak and paddle boards were fun!

Excellent Central Location on Eleuthera

If you are looking for a laid back central location on Eleuthera with local vibes….this is it! Minutes from Tarpum Bay, Rock Sound, and not far from Governor’s Harbor. Located on the Caribbean side on a Lovely stretch of beach known as “Combers Beach” because of all the shells, corrals, star fish, etc. Great separation from neighbors on one side and all natural on the other, We also appreciated the shade the non-native pines gave the ocean side yard, very comfortable temps! The beautiful five palms beach on the Atlantic side is only a 5 minute drive away - best of both oceans!The house is very comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked with cooking ware, dishes, silverware, glasses, etc has everything you need to cook great meals and entertain which we like to do. You won’t be disappointed if you are looking to stay in this part of Eleuthera.

My wife and I have rented extensively throughout the island, and we consistently favor the Tarpum Bay area. This property is truly exceptional for families. The spacious house is well-stocked with amenities and boasts one of the best ocean views we've encountered. While the shoreline is primarily rocky, numerous sandy areas are easily accessible nearby.The highlight of this property is the incredible marine life directly offshore. Our two boys (ages 10-12) spent hours snorkeling in the crystal-clear, shallow water (less than 6 feet deep), encountering rays, a diverse array of fish, baby sharks, dolphins, and turtles daily. A short walk to the right of the property offers excellent shore fishing.This is, without a doubt, the best family rental we've experienced, and we would wholeheartedly recommend it and rent again if available. Thank you for an amazing vacation!P.S. Updating the interior and waterfront photos would further enhance the property's online presentation.

Two weeks isn't long enough

As the title states two weeks in Eleuthra and at Baha Mara wasn't long enough and went by in a flash.Very comfortable home in a secluded area while also being a short distance of anything you need. Great location as home base to explore the south end central areas of the island. Or just stay home and enjoy the beautiful water steps away from the porch.

Wonderful Retreat

This was our third time to rent Baha Mara, a home away from home. Staying at Baha Mara is always a seamless and pleasant experience. We love the location, amenities such as Starlink internet, and the modern feel. I definitely recommend Baha Mara for your perfect Eleuthera experience!

Amazing place

This is a beautiful, comfortable, well-appointed house in a stunning location. Kitchen is extremely well-stocked and there are games and books available for entertainment. The view is incredible and the beach feels private, although there are a couple of houses to one side of the home. The water in front of the house was crystal clear and great for paddle boarding and kayaking. It’s very shallow. The owner was easy to work with and very helpful in solving a little situation we had. Would highly recommend.

This house is absolutely beautiful! Everything was nice and clean. In fact, I told John the house looks better than the photos! I would definitely recommend this house to anyone! Second year in a row for us to stay at Baha Mara. Eleuthera is an amazing island and never disappoints. Some days we just stayed at the house swimming or paddle boarding in the Caribbean. Other days we would venture out to see new beaches.

Amazing stay -- WE LOVED BAHA MARA!

From the minute you drive down the wooded "driveway" you are in a special place. the view is absolutely stunning. The house is 110% clean, and it's just so cozy. The house had everything we needed to cook some meals -- although the oven had serious issues while we were there & hope that gets fixed. The house is for the more adventurous family... The water outside is gorgeous. It is a rocky reef situation, and therefore attracts all kinds of fish. On day one, we had already seen a great barracuda and a nurse shark. This was a bit scary at first, but we tried to be more conscious as we were in the water. The SUP and kayaks provided are a fantastic way to enjoy the water, and were so appreciated. This is definitely a 5-star home!! A few things to keep in mind: As many have stated -- THIS IS NOT A SANDY BEACH. there is sand as a "yard," but that ends when you approach the water. It is 100% rock for 1/3 of the yard into the water. The casurina trees provide a host of bug life. We are covered with bites even now still itching, and we thought we had prepared for this. I think no matter how careful you are, given the trees and needles, you will be bit, even if the bugs normally don't "like you". There is a neighbor right next door. To the right of the house is all wooded, but neighbor is just to the left and is also a rental. It was booked solid while we were there. This is not clear from photos but if you google map north of Tarpum Bay and find it, you see there are 4 houses in a row where this is.... just keep in mind if you are picturing absolute seclusion. I was not, because I had seen the 4 houses on google maps prior. Overall -- we had SUCH a great time. THe location was perfect, we were close to Tarpum Bay to get fish and snorkel in their newly created reefs out of conch shells, and LIghthouse was only about 1.2 hours away, and Gregory Town PIneapple Tour at Eleuthera Farms was only 1 hour. Of course, it's only 10-15 min to Ten Bay, so we had to go there 3 times! If you like island drinks, CocoJo (on Facebk) delivered AMAZING really reasonably priced pre-made cocktails sealed, they were such a hit - (Joannie is a delight at cocojo!). If you want easy water access, and water sports and aren't scared off by some sting rays, barracuda and nurse sharks, then you're in for an adventure at Baha Mara. Thanks Joanne!

Perfect in every way!

You will NOT be disappointed with this property nor will you find another property as well managed and maintained in Tarpum Bay. We visit the island annually and have rented 5 different homes over the last 5 years....as long as this house is available on future trips, we will not consider another rental. Perfect location. Perfect amenities. Perfect accommodations. Perfect management. So glad we found this place.... you won’t be disappointed if you stay here, until you have to leave of course!

Fabulous house in an amazing location!

We came to get away from the craziness in our lives! We had planned on traveling to different beaches on several days but once we arrived we changed our mind! The house is beautiful and comfortable! The kayaks and paddle boards were a great addition! Definitely bring water shoes but the view and area by the water is fabulous! We will definitely be back!

We stayed for a week and were blown away from the minute we arrived. The house had everything we needed and more. John was always available to answer any questions we had. The view and the property were heaven. We saw sting rays and nurse sharks while paddle boarding and kayaking. We will be back soon. Bring water shoes and explore.

Beautiful waterfront home in Tarpum Bay

The property was on the bay side of the island and with a prevailing east wind it is calm. We were able to snorkel and explore the shallow reef in front of the property. Water shoes or sandals are recommended. We had beautiful sunsets. The noseeums were not an issue as we had a nice breeze on most days. John was always available by phone for any questions.. The rental car was very reliable and we explored the whole island from top to bottom. The house was well stocked with everything we needed, It was nice having a washer/dryer. My only suggestion is that beach chairs be purchased for the property to take offsite to the many beautiful beaches. We used the cooler on our excursions. Thanks for the memories on beautiful Eleuthera!

Feels luxurious for vacation home rental

This rental is everything you'd want in a home stay, location is spectacular, kitchen is equipped with quality tools, the beach is literally right there, with kayaks and paddle boards waiting. No need to leave, thou day adventures are easy. Easy pace with great wildlife close to a small local Bahamian fishing community. (so not the place to go if you are looking for active nightlife). Property manager available for needs and questions, very responsive. The bedding and linens are natural fibers and plentiful; my personal favorite detail was the art.

Fantastic home steps from the water in paradise.

This was our second trip to Eleuthera and we are absolutely in love with the island and this cottage. The home was much bigger than we expected and incredibly comfortable and well equipped in a great location. Tarpum Bay is just south of the middle of Eleuthera. The cottage (right on a beautiful bay on the Carribean side) is just a 5 minute drive north of the town of Tarpum Bay. The home is beautifully decorated and really a very comfortable place to stay. Basically two wings - one with a master suite and one with two bedrooms and a bath seperated by the kitchen and great room. Beds were soooo comfortable. The house is truly beautiful and the view from the back porch is amazing. You have views of the ocean from every room (2 bedrooms, kitchen and great room) and three large french doors that open out onto the porch. The house sits maybe 100 feet off the water - fantastic. There is a nice "back yard" in the pines between the house and the beach for lounging and sitting waterside. The shore down to the water is a bit rocky but nothing severe. There was enough sand in spots to get in the water without having water shoes - but I am sure that changes - more or less sand - depending on the last storm. Snorkeling right behind the house was good and the location mid island makes it great to explore all of the other great beaches of Eleuthera. The host has maps in the cottage with all of the beaches and it is fantastic. Great resources to help you explore the more than 100 beaches of Eleuthera. Cannot stress enough how great the maps and info provided by the host helped us enjoy our stay. One of our favorite beaches (recommended by the host) was actually almost directly across the island from the cottage on the Atlantic side. Eleuthera is an out island but so convenient and friendly. Easy to get to with major direct air service from the US. A rental car (we rented from Johnson's in North Eleuthera and they were fantastic) is a must and the host has one available if you can work it out - a real plus. Having two kayaks (two seater and single) as well as two SUPs was a real bonus. The bay right behind the cottage is perfect for kayaking and sunsets. We had slight mix-up on check-in but the host resolved it almost immediately and John was fantastic and checked in with us to make sure everything was perfect. What a great host and great house. This is our new favorite place in Eleuthera.

Our Stay

We had a great two weeks. We have been to Eleuthera many times and our only complaint was the beach. There wasn’t one. Water was good, but we spent most of our time elsewhere. The house is well equipped and we didn’t want for a thing. Thanks Joanna and John. We will be back again God willing. Ron and Joyce

Great View on a Rocky Shoreline

If this is your first visit to the island, you will be blown away by this property. The house is wonderful, with personal touches throughout, that make it feel like a home. It is equipped with everything you need for cooking, and of course, the view is incredible! BUT, if you are an avid researcher before you book a place and read through every review and detail like me, I feel that this was the first time that the reviews and photos didn’t fully prepare me for a very important component of our stay. This was our third trip to the island, so we have experienced two other beachfront homes and countless beaches, and we were truly disappointed by the rocky shoreline. If you book this home, you should be prepared that you will not be walking barefoot, dipping your toes in the sand. At best, the shore is crunchy shells, and at worst-there is dangerous, craggy rock that will cut your feet and cause you to easily slip if you do not wear water shoes— which is not how I want to spend my vacation. We love to spend most of our time at the house we are renting, roll out of bed, and walk right on out into the water. The rocks made this very difficult. We were surprised by this because the pictures of the beach posted on the listing didn’t seem to reflect this. Looking at them now, the picture that comes closest is probably 17/27. I ABSOLUTELY want to acknowledge that in the house manual, there is one sentence: “Ocean shoes are nice for navigating the rocks at the shoreline.” So, I cannot say that we weren’t warned at all; HOWEVER, the house manual is only made available to you AFTER you have booked. Even so, we felt this very much underrepresented the severe level of rocks (you really CAN’T navigate the rocks without water shoes) that really took away from our overall beach experience, which is why I am taking so much time to warn future guests. If smooth sand from the house to the water’s edge is a priority for you, this may not be the home for you. HOWEVER, with that said, John, who was VERY friendly, and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed, mentioned that they have plans to clear out the rocks. So hopefully this will make a difference for future guests! Baha Mara was beautiful, inside and out! The home looked just as pictured and was very clean when we arrived! It is very much updated with everything inside that you could possibly need. The beach is beautiful with tons of sea animals right there in your own backyard! John and Joanna were so great throughout the whole process communicating with us. We even decided that we were getting married while we were there and they helped us with that! Thank you so much for letting us have our special day at your house, right there on your beach. It is something we will never forget! Oh, and your house manual- so helpful, we printed it before we left and kept it with us in the car...perfect for finding beaches and groceries etc! Again, thank you, thank you. We loved our week at Baha Mara and cannot wait to come back!

Great family getaway

We had an excellent experience here. Definitely recommend renting owners car and following their recommendations regarding beaches. Quiet, spacious and clean with everything you need.

I am a Londoner who grew up in LA and has lived in The Bahamas for the last 12 years of my life. I moved to Eleuthera in 2007 to work at Deep Creek Middle School and The Island School. Several years later, I met my partner in Tarpum Bay and we now split our time as a family between Nassau and Eleuthera.
