Week in Poipu

Spent a week in this beautiful update condo. Slept with the windows open and loved the sound of the surf on the ricks below. Breakfast lunch, cocktails and dinner on the deck over looking the vast ocean of whales, turtles below and dolphins. One of the nicest units we have ever stayed in. Did not have enough to do everything we wanted to on Kaui and will be back. Parish is a great property company to work with and did a great job communicating before, during, and after our stay.

Beautiful view

Our favorite part of the day was to sit on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning and watch the crashing waves and the turtles come and go. Most days we were graced with dolphins and rainbows as well. The unit had everything we needed and was quiet and clean. The property itself is older but this did not bother us at all. The pool is small but was never crowded when we were there. Everyone we met was very friendly so chatting at the pool was nice. It was a short walk or drive if you had gear to Poipu or shipwreck beach. We had a great stay and would recommend the unit for a small family.

Great whale watching location!

This great beachfront corner wrap around lanai location was just the spot for watching the humpback whales, sea turtles and colorful sunsets. This condo also has huge windows all around. The unit was spotlessly clean and very spacious. It is a very short walk from Poipu and Shipwreck Beaches. Highly recommended.

Incredible Views.. Ideal Location!

Gorgeous and tastefully decorated, spacious condo with unparalleled views of crashing waves, sea turtles and vibrant sunsets! We even saw whales and dolphins in the distance. Close to the beach and some great meals at nearby restaurants (Eating House, Red Salt, food trucks in neighboring towns). Loved the proximity to Waimea Canyon, Port Henry (Boating tours launch here), Botanical Gardens, Spouting Horn, Old Koloa, Etc). Spent many parts of our day just watching the waves crash and spotting sea turtles. Although this is in a development of condos, it is very quiet and this particular condo feels isolated from any other vacationers.. a true getaway! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Makahuena 5203 Fantastic vacation

Fantastic condo - location, only a few steps away from the ocean and the waves washing up against the rocks below is so relaxing. The lanai is unbelievably wide, providing amazing views in any direction, the kitchen, living room and bedrooms are very spacious and have all the amenities you will require…. The Makahuena complex in general could be challenging for those older and looking to avoid steps in accessing units, however there are a few areas where ramps may help. We had a fantastic time in Kauai, can’t wait to return.

Right on the water, watching the waves break, this unit has a stunning view. Nice big common area, glass windows and doors in 2 directions, there was no reason to leave. Would definitely return.

Makahuena - amazing views, convenient location

We loved our time back at The Makahuena in Po’Ipu! From watching sea turtles in the surf to whales breaching further out to beautiful southwest views of the sunset, this property offers so much just from the lanai. The unit was clean. Kitchen clean and well stocked with plenty of counter space for food prep. Spacious dining and living room area as part of the open kitchen/dining/living room floor plan. Property mgmt was responsive to inquiries and requests. Property is conveniently located to nearby restaurants, stores, and attractions. My partner got a beautiful bouquet of tropical flowers at a very reasonable price from The Blue Orchid to add a little extra to this already perfect space. We enjoyed our 11 nights back on Kauai and highly recommend this property.

Poipu heaven on earth

Absolutely fantastic unit & location!!! I couldn’t believe the views and the beauty of this unit!! It was mesmerizing to look down at the lava cliffs and view half a dozen turtles swimming around in the waves around the lava cliffs!!! There is even a “blow hole” spout of water right below the unit! The unit itself was top notch, clean, gorgeous & modern.

Love the view !!

We spent a few days here after being with our son and family on the other side of the island. The condo is beautiful and light with so many windows to enjoy the view. The deck is literally right next to the ocean waves crashing into the black lava rocks with a blow hole just in front of you. A great place to relax and kick back but also close to many activities. FYI this is not a resort with a huge pool, bar, restaurant etc if that is what you’re looking for.

Beautiful condo in the perfect location! The ocean view is unbelievable! We watched turtles, dolphins, and gorgeous sunsets from the porch. The condo is updated and exactly what the description says. We will absolutely stay here again!!

This property is absolutely beautiful. The remodel was excellent and the wraparound deck is simply amazing. The sunsets were out of this world. We did have some issues with the property unfortunately. There was a piece of dirty laundry left in the closet. The brand new stove top to the oven did not work. The large fan over the living room did not work. The TV in the living room went out numerous times. Towards the afternoon as the sun beat on the beautiful floor to ceiling glass walls the temperature would rise upwards of 83 to 85°. The owners were very easy to work with and try to facilitate the necessary work. But the property management company did not leave us with any sense of urgency or care. We do appreciate the late check out that they did give us.

Best vacation rental ever

It’s going to be hard to beat this property. It was extremely spacious, clean, well-stocked. The location could not be better. There’s no beach within walkable distance but the waves crash right off the balcony and it’s incredibly private. The large windows, sliding glass doors, and balcony provided an amazing backdrop all day long. We loved sleeping with the door open and listening to the waves. Would not hesitate to recommend this to others. Thanks for sharing this place with us!

Fantastic Place!

When we pulled into the parking lot of the complex my stomach sank a bit as the complex itself is older for sure. Walking in the units closest to the parking lot seemed tightly packed in and a bit tired. I asked someone about where our unit was and he stated you are going to love "that" place. Passing the pool we rounded the bend to walk up the stairs to our unit. Upon entering it was clear that this unit was not "dated" like I anticipated walking by the others on the way to it. To the contrary this unit was immaculate. Well decorated, very clean, and when you walk out onto the Lanai you almost feel you are on the rocks with the spray of the ocean in your face. What a setting!!! The kitchen was a joy to cook in which we did 3 of our six nights there. The Master Suite was stunning and everything seemed to work perfectly. Little things like small supplies of paper products, coffee, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, dish soap were so welcoming. There were four beach chairs, and a cooler which we used everyday of our trip. What suggestion would I give. Book it Danno!

Issues not resolved

Overall, it was good. There were a few issues: 1. Gave us the wrong keys. 2. Tv was off line, no connection. Had to go through several steps to get it to work. 3. Light in fan in guest bathroom was broken. 4. Lots of construction, so noise and difficult to find parking. 5. Got a 12 hour notice that water was going to be turned off from 10am-2pm. 6. Railing around lanai was loose so could not lean on it. Had to be very careful. 7. Ants on kitchen counter. 8. Issue with the oven. I have asked several times for a credit for all the issues/inconveniences, but manager hadn’t responded back to me.

It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This

This condo is spectacular. It has the most amazing view you could possibly hope to get on any beach anywhere. Positioned just above the rocks, you see - and hear - the amazing sounds of the breaking waves. The condo itself is really spacious and beautifully laid out. The primary bedroom is on one end of the condo, and is big. The bathroom (and it is indeed a room unto itself) is a couple of steps higher than the rest of the room, and has sliding louvered doors that allow you to open them up to see the view, or close them for privacy. The secondary bedroom is smaller - though still plenty big, is located on the other side of the condo for privacy, and has it’s own in-suite bathroom as well. The furnishings are nice, with some really beautiful built-ins. The huge sectional is comfortable, and a perfect place to kick up your feet. But the star of the show is the huge terrace and the walls of glass that open up to that terrace and view. It was just two of us in that nice spacious condo. We didn’t use the second bedroom at all, but the condo is so nice that we were totally good with paying for a two-bedroom unit so we could get that view and location. Finally a note about the owners. John and Trisha were so nice and helpful. We arrived at night, in the middle of a major storm. There were flooding concerns in the area, and we called both the management company and John and Trisha. They were wonderful. Everything worked out perfectly and they checked in on us multiple times to make sure everything was fine. So even though the property is managed by a prominent company on Kauai, the owners stay very much involved. They are there when you need them! We’re already looking at returning next year. We loved it that much.

Luxurious!

Beautiful property, excellent guest services for questions, and remarkable home! We saw turtles and dolphins right off the balcony and the sunsets….wow! Simply no better view. House was immaculately clean and updated - would stay again!

Amazing House

We loved our stay here. The surf crashing up the rocks below our porch was amazing and the condo itself was well appointed. I will say that the AC in the guest room did not work really well at all. But otherwise our stay was great and our communication with the owners and management company terrific. Be aware that the unit was quite a walk away from the parking lot but the view and surf was the reward! Tons of turtles and one day we even watched dolphins jump by! And that relentless surf... Also to note, we are not well used to electric stovetop and used silver foil which melted into it. Both the owners and management company were so gracious about it!

Absolutely stunning!

This beautifully decorated and well equipped condo is only surpassed by the beauty of the ocean directly in front of the lanai. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the large lanai watching the ever changing ocean scene. The location of this unit is ideal. It is within walking distance of two beautiful beaches and numerous restaurants. The comfortable furniture, ocean views from every room, and the spacious layout allow for a relaxing uncluttered retreat. We would love to stay here again!

Excellent Vacation

First time in Kauai and I am convinced we stayed in the best condo on the island! This condo has plenty of space, a well stocked kitchen, and the best view on the island! It is beautifully decorated and has the most spacious ensuite I have ever seen. The location is incredible....we could have sat on the lanai all day and night. Definite bonus having a washer/dryer located in the condo unit. The property managers are very attentive and were able to fix an issue with the dishwasher within hours. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and sharing your home with our family. We will be back! Rosanne & Dave

GREAT STAY

We loved our stay at 5203, as the location of this Condo is better than anything we have seen on the islands. From morning Coffee, to late afternoon drinks, just hanging out on The Lanai is worth the trip!!
