Our host, Olga, could not have been more welcoming! The pool and grounds were absolutely beautiful. The location of Zen House is convenient to wonderful restaurants and Whole Foods. The interior space is perfect for couples. Olga has provided many thoughtful amenities. We look forward to booking again in the future. Truly a unique experience!

A peaceful retreat

It was such a joy to spend the week at Zen House. The property is lovely in such a tranquil setting, it’s impossible not to be relaxed within hours of being there. Olga, the owner, was so warm and friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay special. My wife loved the pool and found it rejuvenating to lose herself in a daily swim. The house was easy to get to from our home in NYC and we can’t wait to return.

Warm & Serene Weekend Getaway

Pre-stay communication was excellent, with our host contacting me with suggestions for outings (I asked). Our host met us, gave us a tour of the property - not just the living space but the grounds, too. The house is cozy, well thought out and has small touches like a deck of cards (in case you have a couple of minutes of downtime), a beautiful tea set with a variety of delicious teas to use. The house is thoughtfully decorated, the couch and bed are comfortable and there is plenty of space for two people. We had a wonderful weekend getaway and we look forward to future opportunities to visit.

A Slice of Tranquility in North Stamford

One could not ask for a more thoughtfully and elegantly appointed, self-contained oasis. If hibernating is your thing, one need not leave the property, as any meal can be provided upon request. However, should you wish to venture out, you're a stone's throw from fine restaurants; a grocery store; shops of all kinds; and naturalistic and historic attractions. And the pool...it's huge and heated! The icing on the cake, though, is your host Olga, who exudes a passion for the property and its history, thereby making the stay that much more special. Just book it already!

AMAZING!

You know that a place is truly special when after being there for only a few hours you're already planning your next stay. The property is absolutely stunning and Olga is an outstanding host who has the ability to appear only when you need something. The massage I had in the garden (Olga arranged this too) was incredible and the perfect start to what was a truly special trip. I'm anticipating a return to the area on a regular basis, and the first thing I'll do every time is look to see if this is available.

Lovely house, location and hosts!

We spent a beautiful Memorial Day weekend at the Modern Zen House. Olga is a caring, conscientious and generous host. She was helpful and accessible from the time we booked through our departure. The house is divine with an incredibly comfortable king size bed, two large full bathrooms with plenty of fluffy white towels, and a well-equipped kitchen. The living space is large and airy and totally inspiring. We enjoyed sitting poolside reading and listening to the birds, it was a truly restorative retreat. This is the kind of place that is so great you don't want anyone else to know about it, but then, that wouldn't be very zen!

Beautiful Location

This was such a great experience with this property. We were filming an interview for a documentary film; Olga understood how film shoots work, was supportive and on hand for anything that we needed. She even made a very tired crew espressos. The house was exactly as advertised, and the grounds were stunning -- crew enjoyed being able to spread out and soak in the nature. The one note for future productions is that in winter, you can hear the traffic on Rte 15. But we were filming indoors and used sound blankets and were fine.

Zen House

It's unfortunate that my husband and I had such little time to be on the property of Zen House during our stay because I think the grounds offer beautiful walks. The host, Olga, was very kind in providing us with waters, drinks, fruits, teas, pastries, etc. This is not very often the case with a vrbo. My one oversight was not realizing there was no TV; I am a news junkie so I had to revert to my laptop. I guess this is why it's called Zen House!

Beautiful Zen setting and studio with a doe and two fawn grazing on the grounds.

This is a lovely private Japanese style house with a wonderful pool. The views and tranquil, private and gorgeous. The owner is exceptionally kind and thoughtful. We could not turn one wall heater outside the bedroom off, so we slept with the accordion door closed and the AC on in the bedroom. Also, we never mastered the coffee maker. We really enjoyed our stay in the studio and surrounding village and countryside.

The Zen house was great. The pool house and pool is Set within the 17’ tall stone ruins of a 1910 sculptor studio (originally Gutzon Borglum’s studio) the 20’ x 60’ pool was amazing and we used it 2 or 3 times each day.

Great!!

Not only was the property everything that was promised, but Olga is so charming and genuinely kind. It’s a beautiful place to relax and get back to your own self. My husband and I highly recommend this Zen House. But I almost don’t want to becaise then others will know the secret!! But seriously, book it.

Great Stay!

We had a great two day visit at Olga's home. The bed was comfortable and there were lots of cozy places to sit with a book. Olga met us when we arrived and was a friendly host, recommending places to visit and eat during our stay. She also stocked the refrigerator with drinks and chocolate. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

Your Own Private Resort!

Stayed at Zen House for two weeks for our son's move to college in nearby Westchester, NY, but it feels like we just returned from vacation at a private resort. No wonder this place, surrounded by amazing stonework, a picturesque river and waterfalls was once the outdoor studio of Gutzon Borglum, the author of the Mount Rushmore Monument. A clean, stylish vacation home with everything you need for a short or an extended stay plus access to your own private pool, lounge chairs/table and gas grill - great for having lunch or dinner with family. Olga and Jose are wonderful, attentive hosts. Well equipped modern kitchen with all the kitchenware you need. Speedy WiFi. The shops, restaurants and laundromat are just minutes away and the location allows an easy commute to NYC, the beaches and colleges in the area. The place has free parking right by the house beside the stone walls and it is a very quiet, friendly and safe neighborhood. Olga was very helpful and all of the instructions were clear. Definitely our choice for a zen resort experience on our next trips to the NY/CT area, travelling from Europe.

so, so lovely!

This place is very beautiful and comfortable and has everything you can possibly need: a comfortable bedroom, a large living room, a kitchen stocked with all the utensils, a gorgeous courtyard and a huge pool. The hostess is wonderfully gracious and charming and took really good care of us. Really, it was quite heavenly, despite some nasty rain during our stay. Definitely will be back!

Beautiful and relaxing

We had a fabulous time here. Olga and Jose were wonderful hosts. The house with it's giant glass doors and skylights was open and airy. We loved the pool! Everything was perfect and we can't wait to stay here again!
