Everything here was awesome. Loved the upgrades. Learning how to lovk the doors or use the stove top took some time. Would be nice to leave instructions. This was our 3rd visit to the Ranger Station and we will be back. It is very well taken care of and very relaxing. Our dog Chief felt right at home. We even enjoyed the daily visit from the local deer. I would highly recommend this house for a vacation

July 4th Getaway

This house was beautiful and had everything you would need on vacation. It was very peaceful located in a great neighborhood. It was very dog friendly as we had our two large dogs here for four days with no difficulties. All of the technology in the house was new and updated. Also loved all of the board games they kept in the house.

Although we didn’t use many of the amenities, the kitchen had everything we needed and then some. The living area was spacious and the outdoor porches/decks were definitely enjoyed! Absolutely fabulous!

Ranger Station Relaxation

Our family group of 5 plus a dog stayed at Ranger Station for Memorial Day weekend. The house was beautiful....just as shown in the photos. The living/dining/kitchen area was comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything you could ever want. Better than most rentals I have stayed in. There were books and games galore and we actually had a game night. The TV was great as well. The bedrooms were nice, but the bathrooms win the prize! Wonderful showers and fancy toilets!We had a little trouble with the furnace but the staff was right on top of it, providing us with small heaters for the bedrooms (it was pretty chilly at night). We made use of the wood burning fireplace in the evenings and it was great...it made the living area toasty warm. We will definitely be staying here again!

Perfect for us!

Our family ski weekend was a huge success due to the Ranger Station and there being plenty of snow still on the ground to XC ski. We ( Grandparents 60, Adult son,DiL, 9yr & 6yr & 25lb dog) enjoyed the comfortable and spacious open and well equipped kitchen/dining/living room. The National Parks theme was tastefully carried through each room. Any issues we had were responded to and resolved ( wood supply, garage door) with one phone call. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful home, great location

The Ranger Station is a beautiful property with everything you could need. It appears to have been recently renovated and the style and decor were wonderful, we particularly loved the national park themes throughout the house. The kitchen was well equipped and while we did not use them there was also plenty of things in the garage like skis etc. I would note tho that although the backyard is fenced in, there were areas that were not secure, so if you have a dog just beware. The location is great for skiing or hiking. Overall a great experience!

Great House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great time staying at this house. The house is beautiful and very accommodating. Especially loved the heated toilet seat seats. lol. Things that could be improved upon the Check in/out procedure. You have to drive to a rental office to pick up and drop off keys and then drive another 10 minutes or so to the house itself. Would be easier to have a code lock on the door and be able to get in the house that way. They need to have more toilet paper and garbage bags at the house. Front door is very difficult to lock and one of the windows in the back bedroom would not lock. When we arrived in December, 5 windows were unlocked. I was not strong enough to lock them, but luckily my son used all of his strength to lock all but one of them that just wouldn’t lock. The house is in a beautiful nature preserve but still, I felt more comfortable having all of the windows locked so I didn’t like that that one did not lock. Also, there are no window blinds in the main living room so cars is driving by can look right in at night. There is only one TV, but some families might prefer more than that. The timberline Ski Resort is located immediately outside of the nature preserve so it was a great location to the house.

Perfect Winter Stay

This was a perfect trip. The cabin was amazing. All 3 generations loved it. The view of the pond was wonderful. It was also very close to the slopes and to town. We loved walking in the neighborhood. Thank you for sharing such a special place. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful and pretty spot in the WV mountains

Our family comes to Canaan mostly for hiking and this property was perfect for us. Access to Valley View and Dolly Sods is wonderful. We saw many beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Davis is a great little town to visit, along with Blackwater Falls. Love it!

Wonderful Location

The house was great before, we stayed there last year, but the remodel was a very pleasant surprise. Both bathrooms are now have SMART features which are very nice. The kitchen has SMART appliances and the kitchen cabinet remodel is BEAUTIFUL. The new furniture is comfy and the new flooring adds a special flare to the rooms. The new fans and SMART controls were a nice touch. The new door locks were a small problem, but maintenance was quick to assist. The new version of this house has just been open for a few weeks, so there is always small things to correct. The landscaping and new outdoor furniture is nice.

Get back in touch with nature at the Ranger Station

The house, linens, towels, everything was spotless. Very impressive upgrades, including all appliances. We visited during May but would love to stay during the winter,the fireplace was just spectacular. The boys really enjoyed the pond. Being from the area put me right back in touch with nature, the views are breathtaking. Best of Canaan very responsive and accommodating. Loved the National Parks theme throughout the house and the lovely welcoming basket with WV goodies. Will definitely book here again! Thank you Best of Canaan for being so accommodating.

Beautiful time of year

Ranger Station is close to Davis and Thomas. Nice get away this time of year. We were there for the peak season for the foilage. Property inside and out well maintained. Close to all adventures; Dolly Sods, Seneca Caverns and much more. Shop and Save close by, so you dont have to pack food, and the house was very spacious, well equipped with all kitchen essentials and spices. We do plan on making another trip to Canaan Valley Resort next year!

Nice getaway in the woods

Reviewer Comments: I frequent staying back in Old Timberline because I love the privacy, some of the houses let you bring your dog(s), and the private access to the hiking areas and ponds. We had a great stay but this place was probably one of my least favorite places we have stayed. I loved the theme and the back yard was really private which was nice. The house is right off the road with other houses nearby so the front wasn't quite as private.It was a little outdated inside and didn't have quite as nice amenities as we usually stay and a little more run down if I'm being honest. We probably won't go back to this place but it did make a nice getaway for a week's trip.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great central location for our family of 5 to explore the sites of Canaan Valley and surrounding areas. We made good use of the fishing pond across the street and yard games and bikes in the garage were a happy surprise. Kitchen was well stocked and house well maintained. We were nervous about having no A/C in July but the mountain air was cool and breezy and surrounding trees gave shade and privacy. The private trail access to Dolly Sods as well as the access to 2 larger ponds and community trails were wonderful and a nice bonus.

Great cabin

We loved staying at the Ranger Station. It had a lake across the street which was fun for the kids to explore around it and the backyard being fenced in yet wooded let the kids use their imagination of hiking. It was a great spot to come back after a day of hiking and grill out. Kitchen well stocked and beds comfy. Management easy to communicate with

Ranger Station at Timberline Mountain

Excellent property. We have kids in Virginia and Kentucky and this is roughly the mid point. Perfect. Lots of hiking and trails to enjoy and Canaan Valley was beautiful. Home is well equipped and has everything you need. 4 beds and 2 baths and very quiet. There are neighbors but they’re far enough away that it isn’t an issue. Would definitely stay again.

Comfortable and Convenient One-Story Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Ranger Station was overall a terrific place to stay, roomy and clean. Having a place all on one level (with just a handful of steps up from the outside) was great for our group, and the fact that the bedrooms are all in one part of the house that can be closed off with a door from the main room (so that some can stay up to see movies and others not) was also very handy. There is a working VCR not listed in the amenities, btw. The pond and gazebo just across the road are pleasant, and nearby homes are mainly out of sight even though there are signs of life on the roads. We loved the National parks theme (carried out throughout - there were even National Parks pop-up books and a lot of wildlife/conservation books in a desk area in the living room). I would definitely rent this place again.A few things that might matter to some guests but not others:-There is wifi, but it's not secure (we got a warning, didn't mind much) AND not as strong/steady as some guests would need. A friend who had an important zoom meeting decided to go home early rather than risk the wifi. The wifi was good enough for streaming at some times but fussy..-We were there during a freak May snowstorm with lots of after melt followed by rain. This may have affected our water supply, which was orange (due to tannic acid that's heavy in that part of Timberline, we were told), even though the ultraviolet filter in the house had recently been changed/updated. We were OK, but if this would concern you, you might want to check w/mgmt before you book to find out if things have settled down.-In general the place is WONDERFULLY well equipped (kitchen, grill equipment, extra bedding and pillows), but I wished I had brought a good paring knife
