The Loon Lookout es una cabaña de 2 dormitorios (1 cama queen, litera - doble sobre cama completa, cama de día en el porche) y tendrá capacidad para 4+ personas, con 2 baños pequeños - 1 fuera de cada habitación (con duchas). Incluye una pequeña cocina, comedor y sala de estar. ¡El Loon Lookout tiene un porche proyectado y es un lugar maravilloso para disfrutar al máximo de todo lo que los Adirondack tienen para ofrecer!

Ofrecemos un amplio estacionamiento privado para vehículos, botes y sus remolques, televisión por cable, wifi, fogata y parrilla de carbón. ¡También tenemos una sala de recreación disponible para que todos puedan usar con mesa de billar, ping pong, juegos, películas, etc.! El área de natación con muelle flotante, un muelle para botes de 25 'de profundidad y una playa de arena están disponibles sin cargo adicional entre Memorial Day y Labor Day.

Things were ok but I did feel the price was high for the cabins. They are very old and hodge podged together. We all had a good time making due but honestly wouldn't recommend, because of the amount of money spent....

Super clean & peaceful

The cabins cleanliness exceeded my expectations. Communication with Margo and Pat was quickly responded to and the lake itself is gorgeous. Had a blast kayaking with the kayaks provided and would definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay and the views were awesome. We’ve been vacationing in the Adirondack Mountains for many years but didn’t know that Birchwood Cottages was a place that you could stay. We’ve always stayed at the Maple Leaf up in Schroon Lake. We now plan to make Loon Lake a yearly thing.

Cabin 4

The cabin is a cross from the rec hall so it got very loud in the evenings before 10pn. There was only one plate in the cabin and no cork screw. Many pots and pans were put away dirty in the cupboard because previous renters most likely didn’t bring dish soap. The fire pit is right on the edge of the road also in front of the Rec room. We did play pool and made it work because I had my own pool stick but most pool sticks for the tattered table had no tips and no chalk was provided. I rate our stay a three because I feel this cabin needs an inventory check and perhaps leave dish soap and a roll of toilet paper for your travelers.

Jeana, we're sorry to see you weren't able to give us 5 stars, we always strive to make everyone's stay enjoyable! The location of your unit is definitely right in the middle of the action, so we understand that the rec room might be loud while people enjoy it, but I am glad to hear it was before 10pm when our quiet hours start, and I believe the map of our property does give a true picture of locations. We have just placed a new corkscrew in the cabin after reading this review, and we have reiterated our inventory and cleaning check-list process with our cleaning crew to ensure cottages are appropriately cleaned and stocked prior to every check in. If you had wanted any of these things to be addressed, we do state that you can reach out immediately to us, or our onsite caretaker and we will rectify most items as soon as possible. The rec room items, unfortunately do not last more than a few weeks, as people are always in and out of the rec room (sometimes abusing) the supplies that we provide, we will do another refresh in a few weeks! As stated in all of our communications and listings, renters are responsible for providing all consumable items (including dish soap, paper products, etc) - but we do provide a fresh sponge to all units to get you started.

The location is very good but the bathrooms are really small. Everything else is ok except I didn’t know there were no bathroom tissues.

Wah, thank you for staying with Birchwood and for taking the time to review our property! If you decide to come again (we'd love to have you!!), you would likely benefit and enjoy the larger bathrooms in the 3 bigger units (or the Lodge), as you had selected one of our smallest units to stay (hence the smaller bathrooms). In regards to bringing all consumable items (including toilet paper), we communicate that within the VRBO listing, in the verbiage of the contract as well as in the welcome email you receive 5 days prior. I am sorry that you missed it, but luckily we have some close shops with those very necessities for vacationers that stock up upon arrival (or forget)! Be well!

Great Adirondack Vaca!

Super 10-day fall stay at Birchwood Cottages. Cottage was clean, warm and well-equipped. We made great use of the fire pit, kayaks and rowboats, as well as the screened in porch. Enjoyed the proximity to some great local restaurants but also took advantage of the kitchen for “at home” dinners. Pat and Margo are excellent hosts. They were very responsive and took time to confirm details about our stay - from WiFi to pet friendliness. The whole property is well maintained and offers lots of options for groups of different sizes/preferences. We would definitely do a return visit.

Wonderful week!

The property was immaculate ewhen we arrived. Although full with another much larger family reunion group, everyone was cordial, shared the beach and rec facilities with no problems and both groups were considerate of quiet hours. We just loved Birchwood Cottages!

About the Owners: Birchwood Cottages is family owned and operated by Patrick and Margo McGowan, under our LLC, ADK Birchwood. Patrick & Margo McGowan have loved the Adirondack Park for decades and had been searching for the perfect spot to make their own in the Adirondacks. Margo and Patrick have always been drawn to the park; they were engaged in Brant Lake (just down the road) and married in Lake Placid, and vacationed in the ADKs just about every year since then. They have become quite the Adirondack groupies, scouring property and vacationing in various spots within the blue line for years and years, it was time to put down some roots.

How we came to love Birchwood: Margo had known about Birchwood Cottages for about 15 years, as she went to college with the previous owners daughter, and had visited Birchwood a few times throughout her college days. In years passed, she had always toyed with the idea of buying Birchwood – but considered it pipe dreams at best. In the summer of 2015, the McGowan’s came to Birchwood to have a mini college reunion with her friends and classmates, and it was then, that the timing was right to call Birchwood home! After a quick discussion with Art and Jill Spierre, and a seemingly short drive for Jen and Steve to check the place out, a handshake sealed the deal. The Hazelton’s and McGowan’s spent the summer back and forth to Birchwood, and in discussions with Art and Jill, and were finally able to call Birchwood theirs in September 2015. In 2020, Margo and Patrick made another leap and purchased the Hazelton's shares of the LLC.

Our goal is to keep Birchwood as a family friendly vacation spot for our loyal guests AND NEW ONES, so they too, can call Birchwood home (if even for a week or 2) for years and years to come!

Birchwood Cottages is a delightful set of cottages, and one large main house (The Lodge), settled on the north-west shore of Loon Lake surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains. In the summer the cottages can be rented by the week and include a nice sandy beach for the kids to play and swim. Our roped swimming area is easily accessible by steps that lead to a sandy gradual walk-in, and include a floating dock.

Loon Lake is a nicely tucked away little treasure in Chestertown, NY. There are multitudes of activities to do for a day trip- or never leave the beach- which ever you prefer. Full service marina located across the lake for all of your boating needs, and our large boat docks can accommodate any size boat! Winter time in norther Warren County boasts abundant activities; Skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling and annual winter festivals are plentiful.
