Wonderful location. Very spacious and comfortable with a very attentive and friendly host - one of the nicest VRBO/AB&B that I have ever stayed in (and that's a big number).I particularly liked the quiet, the size of room and height of ceilings. The apartment was well equipped with all amenities, and very comfortable. We encountered only one modest problem with the bathroom toilet which the host, Athol, was very quick to attend to.We very much hope to go back.

LAVENDER COTTAGE AT LE BONHEUR -AVOID! - INDISPUTABLY NOT AS PRESENTED!

We booked a 40 night stay based on photos depicting terraces with great views & gleaming, beautifully lit pool & hot tub in lovely surroundings. The video (entitled Le Bonheur - Luxury Villa) shows pleasant neutral interiors. This could not be further from reality! These enhanced photographs are obviously decades old & bear no resemblance to the current seriously neglected & tired property. The terrace, overlooks ugly roof, with several beehives housed on it. It is cramped & affords no privacy, being taken up by two large skylights servicing the floor below. The pool & hot tub both poorly maintained, showing algae formation, are rarely uncovered & ready for use. Pool is particularly uninviting with it's worn & faded interior. A deplorable lack of maintenance is continued inside the "cottage" where we were confronted by a catalogue of problems: junkshop quality, badly repaired furniture is seen throughout, mattress/toppers heavily stained (blood, sweat & urine) all needed steam cleaning, torn old sofas with back & seat cushions stuffed with old duvets, (not replaced), threadbare linen & towels, mouldy showers, dirty bathrooms & leaking toilet (left for 4 weeks), tired kitchen, old appliances with exposed wiring, new TV constantly cutting out (20 times in 1hr!) due to poor connectivity, never addressed. Athol and Micaela are unapologetic, set on defending the indefensible with poor excuses. Property should never have been let in this condition. Definitely NOT LUXURY! AVOID!

We have been operating our Guest House for 23 Years. We Have Never ever Had a One Star Review. We had a December 2024 & March Booking after their Departure both 5 Star Reviews. Lavender Cottage was upgraded in early 2024 with New Modern Light Wooden Flooring & repainted. We make sure everything is in Top condition. We get our Steam Cleaners twice a year Every six Months to Steam Clean The Cottage Lounge Suite Carpets in the Bedrooms & Beds & Bedding Steamcleaned.They were due during March 2024. I have What You Would Call A Critical Eye.If anything needs to Be Done we Paint & Fix & Repair. This is where I Blossomed in my Career as a Pilot. We contact our Guests ahead of time & give them our Whats App number Address Location. They send their Time of Arrival.We advise them of our self Check in System with a Box at the Front of the Gate. Give them the weather & Wi-Fi Passwords before they arrive. Communication is Important and my Guests appreciate the advance contact. After Reviewing There One Star Review When Guests arrive first Impressions & communication are Important. She would not share her Contact details and was very Cagey & abrucpt & rude. In the 1st Week I got a Long letter with a List of Issues. If you ask a Busy Person to take action I am The Best Guest House Owner. I responded to her By saying Thank you for your input & it will sustain our 5 Star Status. I went out early the Next Day & bought all New stuff & dropped it with them by Lunchtime the next day. Offered my Domestics service to Help Replace the New Stuff. She refused her help & then looking at her actions noted that everything was in 3's in a Row & lists on the tables. Showing a Definite OCD type personality. But we always do our best. The Lavender Cottage is 130 Square Meters with a Beautiful 60 Square Meter Patio Overlooking Beautiful Views of the backdrop of Table Mountain over Solar heated Pool in a Beautiful manicured with Yellow & Purple pertuas in a Landscaped well maintained garden The Pool is only opened when a Guests message that they would Like Our Umbrellas up Cushions on our 8 Recliners & Opening our well Maintained 11 X 5 Solar heated Sparkling Pool. Cape Town is Known for Water Restrictions & has introduced Water Saving rules where pools are to be Covered when not in Use. We have Laminated Messages in each Cottage. Save water Please shower after putting on Sun Tan Lotion Please fill the Kettle before Use.etc Standard at all Guest Houses. Her Eledrly Husband asked for a Comforatble Chair so he could watch the Football. We brought our Leather Recliner from one of the Other Cottages to make his stay as Comfortable as Possible.We restuffed the Comfortable Coricraft Craft Cushions & made sure the Zips were in Good Condition. We had to call our TV specialist & Plumber out 5 Times to fix a Toilet & make sure the TV was in Perfect Working Condtion with 58Inch Smart TV with fill Bouchet DSTV options NetFlix & You Tube which our Guests enjoy. My TV installer showed the Husband how to work the TV to enable him to Watch his Sport. It became apparent that the main Problem was Finger Trouble. But without a Direct Whats App Communication Options & forbidden to Go into the Cottage to see what the problem was with the Toilet. Our Showers are Sparking with No Mould. About 10 days later I received another List of Complaints. Towels Cutlery & Crockery ETC. The Toaster & Kettle were replaced as there was a Slight issue with the Plug. Nothing that would cause a Safety issue Once again all was bought new & replaced the Same day. Still no communication & difficult & abrupt. We have a few BeeHives which are on Our Office Roof.Does not affect or Endanger any of our Guests.We often Give some of our Guests a Bottle of the beautiful Sweet honey from the Fynbos in the Beautiful Constantia Valley In Fact Human Life would not survive without Bees, With my long Term experience in the Hospitality Industry.One get a Good idea of the Nature & intentions of ones Guests. All our Guest Houses in the Constantia Valley are well Connected via Whats App & we meet once a Month to discuss issues new Restaurants Best Wines & New Shops & top Breakfast spots that we share with our Guests. Weekly weather is sent to our Guests so they can plan when to Go Up Table mountain or great day to Go to Boulders Penguin Beach in Simonstown on the way to Cape Point Nature Reserve. We in Constantia & Cape Town have so much to offer our Tourists. We have a Lot of Repeat Business which proves that we are doing something Right. I went away last week & my daughter helps run the Guest house & sadly she had being told by my staff who were terrified of my Lavender Cottage Tenants. My Daughter has the Same issues. Had the Plumber in again.She said to these unhappy miserable Guests Why Did You Stay for 39 Nights You could have Moved to another Guest House. With My expertise looking back at their 1 Star review Did they acknowledge anything Good About the Well Positioned Secure Well Lite Grea
