The Stables Cosy and Convenient Above River Derwent

This unique and comfortable light-filled loft offers an intimate escape less than a 10-minute drive from Hobart’s CBD and within walking distance of Sandy Bay and the University of Tasmania. Cosy up by the fireplace—with split-system cooling to ensure year round comfort—cook meals at home in the fully-equipped kitchen, soak up the sunshine in the private courtyard and enjoy the convenience of WiFi, in-unit laundry and free off street parking.
Nestled in the highly desirable inner-city enclave of Dynnyrne, The Stables offers an idyllic retreat for those seeking the comfort and warmth of a home-away-from-home. Its lofted open feel has been thoughtfully designed to maximise space. On the ground level, a two-seater sofa centres around a wood-burning fireplace—providing maximum comfort in the cooler months. Split-system cooling and heating is also available. Step outside to the private courtyard to sit and enjoy your morning coffee before whipping up a quick bite to eat in the kitchen. A dining table set for four accommodates all guests for meals at home.

Ascend the stairs to find the lofted bedroom. Its elevated position provides views down to the Derwent River and surrounding tree-lined streets of Sandy Bay, with a Juliet balcony inviting the breezes to stream through. Snuggle up in the queen sized bed, with an additional sofa bed that can be set up upon request sleeping one guest. The bathroom is located downstairs and features a walk-in shower.

Timber for the wood-burning fireplace is provided in the winter only. If you plan to use this outside of those months, please pick up firewood on your way.
During your stay, you and your group will have the entire apartment to yourselves. Please make yourselves at home!

Tucked away in a friendly and safe neighbourhood you’ll have the University of Tasmania, Sandy Bay shopping district with two supermarkets and Hobart’s CBD just moments away. The Sandy Bay shopping district has many great coffee shops and eateries—including local’s favourite Solo Pasta and Pizza and Suminato Japanese Restaurant. A little further away you'll find Battery Point and Salamanca. Explore the market stalls or dine at lauded waterfront eateries.

Due to local regulations, we can happily host you for up to 90 nights. Any bookings that exceed this duration will be cancelled by Vrbo.

Bright cosy place with views

It has all that's needed in the kitchen and I love that it's bright even on a dull day. The plants are a nice touch, though I would have preferred rugs to the current floor coverings. Close to everything, especially Mt Nelson, which was great to visit after all the rain. We would happily stay again :)

Comfort

This was listed as comfortably sleeping three people. The single bed provided was not a single bed. It was a cheap fold out bed that had an uncomfortable bar running down the centre. We asked for a mattress to be delivered and a doona was put on the bed instead. The lounge area only had a two seater. There was no rug on the floor no extra lounge chair and no coffee table. The fire had no kindling or newspaper supplied so we were unable to use it. There was a loud repetitive noise coming from the wifi box. The 'owner said the battery must have been running low so we had to turn it off. in our correspondence we were responded to by three different people, none of whom were listed as owners on the site.

Fabulous place for a couple

This property is very comfortable, warm and well located. It has a full kitchen including oven, which a lot of properties lack (although there wasn't a great amount of kitchen utensils, making us wash up a little more than we would have liked - but this is only a very minor annoyance). Salt, pepper, tea bags and instant coffee provided. It is situated on high ground and so has a sense of space and some views, and there is also a bus stop right outside the door, and a more frequent service about 10 minutes walk away. We didn't have a car and yet had no problem getting to and from the property at all times. There is also a good grocery / fruit and veg shop about 10 minutes walk away. I think the place is perfect for 2 people, but since there is only 1 lounge for relaxing, it might be a bit uncomfortable if more people were to stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Love the Stables

The Stables are well located to enjoy Hobart and the surrounds. Easy access to Sandy Bay's shops and ready access to Mt Wellington, the CBD, and Huon Valley. The Stables are a charming place to stay, well equipped for a week with kitchen, basic food stuffs, bathroom, and sleeping area. Its pretty quiet and has a lovely view to the Derwent River and up to the mountains. We'd stay again!

Amazing stay at the Stables

We had such a lovely stay at the Stables. The place was super clean, towels and linen provided, great wifi and all the things you need to cook in the kitchen. Really warm, homely feel and in a great spot to get around Hobart! Thanks for a great stay, we will be back :)
