Lake lover

A dream of a dock

What a blessing to have a chance to experience the absolute best of Lake Tawakoni. So so much more than the listing can say. I was so happy with the outdoor kitchen on the dock, we grilled burgers, and the “trolly” was unexpectedly helpful to roll our ice chests out there. The picnic table and benches provided plenty of seating under a very effective ceiling fan. No need to bring lawn chairs. The swings are fun too. For extra expense, you can rent the atv, a 3 seater jet ski and a gorgeous tritoon that seats more than 10! The atv is helpful to run to the dock from the house, it’s a bit of a hike. Dusk is magical. First the white lights shine out onto the lake. Then the blue and red solars that are mounted along the dock come on one at a time. Then the grand finally is the massive green light mounted high on the gable that lights up the water and attracts the fish. Felt like an aquarium. I wish I’d known to bring food to feed the fish. Moonlight, big open water. Most exclusive neighborhood to be found on Lake Tawakoni. Bravo! The owner was very responsive and helpful. Twin baby deer played in the woods next to the house. Our family was sad to leave.

Family christmas

It was nice being able to get all our children under one roof. It was a nice house. It had everything we needed. The house was clean and nicely decorated.

Neighborhood location is great thats about it. Believe every bad review you see about this rental because they are true or much worse.

Lot of potential but...

The house was pretty clean eye level down. Eye level up looked like it hadnt been touched in a while. On top of that the yard was not well maintained and I ended up having my nephew bring bring me a weedeater since we were spending out time BBQ. The pictures also make it look like the property backs up to the lake, its .4 mile walk. The pool cues for the table all have broken tips. I actually left my cue there. The dock is great, the house lays out well and is really nice, worked well for us but we did a lot of cleaning when we got there. Also, the VRBO listing says you can host an event. The evolve rules state it is against the rules. We had a small BBQ for a wedding rehearsal dinner. I dont want to be overly harsh because it worked for us but a little effort on the cleaning and upkeep would have saved me 3 hours of doing someone elses job.

Great home

The home and our stay was great! I didn’t think the listing did the home justice. The back yard was awesome. The game room was super fun since our Saturday was very rainy. The home was clean, updated and had everything we needed to make meals. We plan to return to this home.

Daughter’s wedding in Celeste

I rented this house for our family to attend my wedding in Celeste. My family lives in south Texas, I live in Oklahoma so this looked like the perfect house to rent for the weekend. It is a beautiful home but it was such a disappointment. I was so embarrassed of how dirty and unkept the house was. From the inside of the refrigerator, to the bathrooms that smelt like urine, the filthy windows, rugs, and light switches. The outside was scattered with litter, broken trampoline, and dirty lawn furniture. They have piles of building materials scattered about the back yard. Definitely not a safe area for my niece, nor grandmothers to walk around. The property also has an aerobic system with sprinklers that went off every 5 minutes. Smelt of septic. I would NOT recommend this vacation rental to anyone. I felt myself apologizing repeatedly to my family. My 2 year old niece picked up shot cups with dried liquor that she found in the game room. A used bra was found on the floor in one of the bedrooms. I could list many other unsatisfactory items found, but will stop by saying again how very upsetting , dissatisfied and disappointed I was. I would recommend not renting this place to anyone. It gives VRBO and EVOLVE a bad reputation.

Disappointed

This was a beautiful property with a lot of fun things to do. The game room is fully loaded, plenty of comfy beds, and lots of outside amenities i.e. trampoline, outdoor patio set up with outdoor grill, TV, basketball, etc. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. When we arrived the house was dirty. We had to scrub out the frig before we could unload food, the house was bug infested, the worst of which was the severe roach problem in the kitchen. No water pressure in the kitchen, (Made it very challenging to enjoy making meals), AC worked great throughout the house, but didn’t work at all in the back two bedrooms with the Jack and Jill bathroom. The owners had the house well stocked with cleaning supplies, but it was very difficult to find anything. When we reached out to the owner about the roaches, kitchen water, and bug problem, as well as asking about where the outdoor trash was located he only responded about the trash. All of the patio amenities were in such filthy poor condition they couldn’t be used. Better communication on the front end would have been incredibly helpful. For example there was an outdoor mister that seemed to be for helping to control the terribly thick nighttime bug warning problem, we just happened to discover by accident at the end of the 3rd day of our four day visit. This is one of several examples of poor communication. If they could set this up where things inside and outside were clean and usable, and clearly communicated on the front end this could have been a really great experience. We spent most of our 3 days was spent in the game room. Unfortunately, definitely not worth the money.

Nice and quiet.

We have been taking our family of 10 on a summer trip (for a weekend) every year for 14 years, to bring us together. It has been the best thing we have ever done. We have seen the little ones grow up as we get older. We have rented homes in many different places in Texas and a few in Oklahoma. Always near lakes. So we call it our lake house trip. Some of the places were unacceptable and some were acceptable, then there were some that were exceptional. This one was one of the good ones. The place was beautiful and the house was nice. We needed another bathroom but we made it work. The kids loved the game room, and all the TVs, the zip line was a hit with some, and all the swings were good for young and old. Although we did not have a boat, we did go to the marina on Sunday to find a beautiful lake that was quiet enough to take a few pictures. The master suite was rather large and it needed a chair or two and maybe some luggage racks. But over all we loved the house and hope to return.

Don’t trust this property

The property description is deceiving. You are not “steps away from the shoreline”...it’s a 5 minute drive to the dock. The boat is stuck in their backyard so you can’t rent it out even though it’s advertised that you can. Our first night there, a shower head/rod fell on one of our children and hit her in the eye. After further inspection, ALL the shower heads were not secured to the walls so we had no showers for 24 hours until he could finally get his “friend” to come and fix it after much inquiry for a solution. Then 2 days later, all the toilets and showers backed up and we had to vacate our property 2 days early due to the owner not being able to get anyone out until an undetermined amount of time. We asked for a refund for the last 2 days and the owner said he would. After several emails and no response, we contact the owner via text. He stated that we clogged the toilets and because he had to pay for the septic tank to be fixed, he would only refund us one night. We stated that was not our fault because we barely stayed at the property and hadn’t even gone through a roll of toilet paper during our stay. We asked to see the report and he would not give it to us. We contacted EVOLVE and filed a complaint and sent pictures and texts of everything that happened. Evolve never got back with us and only sent an automated email for a refund for less than 1 night stay. We are still fighting to get back our money. Stay away from this property.

Relaxing Stay

Peaceful stay and easy access to the lake. The property manager was quick to respond to all of my texts and was very accomodating. If you bring plenty of grocieries for your stay, you won't have any reason to leave. Plenty of outdoor stuff to do around the house and on the property. The house is well furnished, with plenty of cooking appliances and cookware.
