This family house is located directly on the harbourside boasting wraparound decks offering amazing views of McLeod Bay, Mount Manaia, and Mount Albury. There are 3 queen-sized bedrooms and 1 bedroom with two single beds. Inside the house is a large bathroom, and a private cabin off the deck has it's own ensuite bathroom and private garden deck overlooking the bay. Living rooms are large and beautifully decorated to a relaxed resort-style atmosphere, opening out onto the massive wraparound deck. Step from the front lawn into the sea. Sleeps up to 8

Fabulous Sunny Waterfront Home, Windows Galore

We loved our stay at Karl’s place. And Karl was very nice, good communicator, greeted us and came back later when we had a hot tub question. The house is comfortable, loved sitting on the deck, dining outside. Nice walks in the area. Try the Indian restaurant /cafe; nice people and the cauliflower and other dishes superb.

As close as it gets

Looks and works exactly like it looks in the pictures. Great location and decor. The super modern kitchen and oven took some getting used to but we got it sussed. Three couples fitted well. Wifi was good. Less cooking equipment than we’re used to but we are foodies - bring anything special. We’re keen to go back.

Fantastic Stay

We loved our stay. It was super stormy and the house was perfect, warm with a toasty fireplace and a great front-row seat to watch the crashing stormy waves. We have already booked to go back for summer.

Family Times & a Wedding

Wow! Such a cool spot right on the water’s edge with tropical planting and beautiful interior. The space was just what we needed in the lead up to my daughter’s wedding, and both interior and exterior were perfect for pre-wedding photos. Thanks Karl and Jack for letting this accommodation. P.S. the chilled beers and wine were appreciated :)

Amazing Sea views

We had a wonderful stay at Karl’s beach house with wine and beer waiting for us along with tea, coffee, spices and condiments in the fridge. The home was very clean and our beds were nice and comfy. Our host was extremely helpful in guiding us to some beautiful tramping spots and went above and beyond in letting us know about grocery store locations and restaurants to take in. I just wish we could have stayed a bit longer but we were at the tail end of our 3 month stay in New Zealand, and it was time to head back to Canada. I would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to excape to a little piece of paradise! Thank you again Karl!!

Worst cyclone in a 100 years hit the day we arrived lasted 4 days no power or water so had to leave

Host is great very supportive cant say enough very helpful. Unfortunatley he cannot control the weather.

Location is Stunning!

We absolutely loved our few days at Whangarei Heads. This home is cosy and the location amazing. We enjoyed meals on the deck, watching the sea and the sunsets. The home was perfect for our family - it offered independence for our 20-something daughter with her own sleep-out, and equally perfect for my 92 year old mother as the house was easily accessible. Wished we could have stayed longer!

Stunning Location

Everything was seamless from the booking process to checking in. So special to be able to sit outside at various sitting areas on the wrap around deck and enjoy the sea coming right up to the start of the property. Plenty of room for everyone to relax and we loved the hot tub outside the main bedroom looking out over the water. A truly magical place to stay, didn't want to leave.

A wonderful winter getaway

We had a great five nights staying at Karl and Jacks bach with our little whanau. The house was very cool, with great furnishings and such a beautiful view, you are really right on the water! Karl and Jack welcomed us with music on and beers and wine in the fridge, so lovely. It was the perfect place to retreat to in the winter with the fire and the spa pool. We loved exploring Whangarei Heads, doing some bush walks and visiting Ocean Beach. Thanks for having us, we will be back one day!

Love this place!

Karl was great and so accommodating… the house was lovely and exactly as the photos right on the waters edge, with a sunken hot tub into the deck - the 4 of us loved our weekend here and will be back!

Fabulous Holiday Home. Perfect!

Absolutely gorgeous home. Very stylish, fantastically decorated and so comfortable for a relaxing stay on the water. Cosy fireplace, spa is a brilliant bonus especially on a starry night. Great location with lovely cafe within good walking distance. We will be back!

Perfection by the sea

We had terrible weather and yet this amazing spot did not disappoint. It really is as close to the water as you can possibly get, tucked in amongst other houses but with a totally private feeling. The house is a perfect combination of 'classic bach' and some really clever reconfiguration that gives the unlikely but very enjoyable feel of being comfy AND chic. The art is a distinct bonus - beautiful. Flawless hosting to top it all off - we were met by a warm fire and cold drinks. The house is generously provisioned in all respects. Karl and Jack were very welcoming and you really felt like their guests, not just short stay renters. Now we want to come back when it is not raining - at least the resident golden duck was happy!

A piece of paradise.

Loved everything about this place. Great location, on the waterfront and close to everything you need. We were welcomed by Karl, who showed us around and he even left a couple of beers in the fridge for us. We have stayed at plenty of short term rentals in our time and this property was by far the best in terms of stocking everything you would need for an enjoyable stay. From coffee, tea, coffee capsules, herbs and spices plus much more, its all there. Karl has gone the extra mile with property and we will certainly be back. Thanks for letting us stay. Greg
