We had a wonderful stay at Purple House. The property feels welcoming and warm, and René was communicative and so kind. A great neighborhood with plenty of food options nearby, and the house and neighborhood were both very kid friendly. Hope we can come back sometime!

Roomy apartment in a residential neighborhood close to coffee shops, restaurants and Metro. Very comfortable to hang out after a long day of museums. We used Uber which worked well.

Perfect location, very cozy home— had everything we needed for our stay! Communication with the host was easy and they responded quickly. The home is very central to most attractions/activities in DC. We enjoyed our time and would definitely recommend this home!

We arrived after a 12 hour car ride to two metal door pieces blocking the pull in driveway space, had to get out in the pouring rain to move them and stepped on 2 soaking wet bags of dog poop. Then we hurried to the door with our bags to find the key in the door and it open. After deliberating in the rain, we decided to move into the kitchen area as my husband checked to see if anyone was inside. The dishwasher had been paused and was open with:27 left to go. As we talked in the kitchen, the door going downstairs had barking and howling dogs behind it which terrified my youngest child. We felt like we caught someone in the house and so took our kids back out to the car to wait safely. We watched the house and I decided to go back in and get the owners information so that we could call them. My husband was already on with the VRBO Evolve waiting for them. We explained the situation to both of whom did not care. We did not feel safe there. Who had access to the house? The two metal panels looked like they were to an electrical box. The noise from the dogs was too much after the long trip. We waited around for the company to call us back and give us a different rental, but that was taking forever so we took our family to a hotel. The VRBO and owner wanted pictures. After 12 hours of driving, why would I make up a story that kept me from the rental where my family could rest and enjoy our vacation!? We sent the pics and were told the next day to go back! No negotiations! No help.

Fun, Comfortable Stay

This charming row house is a 10-15 minute drive from just about anything you want to do in DC. The beds are comfortable and the neighborhood was full of kids playing and dogs on walks. We loved the Old City Market & Oven for breakfast, groceries and a couple of great pizza dinners.

Great Home Away From Home

We enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend it for a family or small party. The house is centrally located and within walking distance of food stores, shops, gyms, and local restaurants. Our host was amazing - checking in at the start of our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The home was also clean and cozy, with enough room for everyone. We had a great expderience and look forward to returning again soon!

Great location and quaint row house. What I didn't notice initially when booking is no clothes washer/dryer, we just packed heavier than normal, rental rate for time period was slightly below average in the area which reflects lack of this amenity.

Felt like living in someone's charming home

This quirky old purple house is clearly much loved with its murals and creaky floors. The neighborhood is so lovely, anyone would feel comfortable there. A work in progress with plenty of room for our group of three adults, though one bedroom is definitely for a smaller person.

Convenient and comfortable home

The home was spacious for the three of us and had what we needed for the week. The home is a quarter of a mile from a subway stop and less than a mile from Union Station. Trader Joe’s is a quarter of a mile away. There’s a gate at the bottom of the stairway which kept our dog downstairs with us during the day. A great place to stay for a visit to DC!

Great home base for DC

We loved our stay. The NE area was beautiful. Lots of family and lots of dogs walking the streets. We had a good supply of nearby restaurants and union market had amazing breakfast options. We didn’t go for any other meal but I’m sure it’s good for that too. The rooms were tidy and well equipped. The house had everything we needed for a short trip away. I would certainly come back to this property again. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
