Relaxing Country Retreat close to all amenities. Great for the whole family!

Relax back in our large, cosy guesthouse that’s big enough for the whole family, and supplied with all the amenities, including heat/air conditioning, washer/dryer, large tv, and wifi; to name a few. Large decks overlook duck ponds and pastures of grazing cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys. The view from the deck over neighbouring farms is second to none. The area is well know for its diverse bird population- from Owls and eagles, to herons and sparrows. A bird-lovers paradise.
Our home is the perfect escape from the city, yet 5 min from the airport, ferries, and Town of Sidney - a charming seaside town with everything from breweries, fine restaurants, museums, and cinemas, to great shopping!
We are a 10 min walk to the Pat Bay beach, which is warm and swimmable in the summer, and has the most amazing sunsets anytime of year.
We are surrounded by amazing hiking trails and parks.
Perhaps one of the most breath taking aspects of our area is the The Gulf Islands National Park. You can access some of these Islands by ferry, or we can arrange a private boat charter upon request.

Amazing place Beautiful living space Along with very close location to nearby beaches, dining, and playgrounds for kiddos. Our kids loved seeing all the turkeys, pigs/piglets, cows , chickens etc. definitely would stay again and again and again

Wonderful hosts, wonderful house, we had everything we needed. It’s a delight to wake up to the farm sounds! Farm is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We really enjoyed ourselves. Lots of walks, beaches in area. Close to airport and ferry terminals. I would love to see this place in the summer.

Great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. The decor was adorable and though we didn’t have kids or pets with us, this place catered to them! We came in for a wedding and when I asked if there was an iron Tess was quick to offer hers. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Excellent. Kids (1.5 and 4 years old) enjoyed seeing chickens, turkeys, pigs and cows, using toys and tricycles. Adults appreciated clean spacious facility. Host was very friendly and welcoming. Very convenient to international airport (15 minutes).

We enjoyed staying here its in a great location just out of Sidney but close to shops, the beach and the airport. Tess was great at communicating and went out of her way for us. The decking patio area with the barbeque is perfect. Thank you

Great location for our needs.

It was fun staying on a working farm and the animals were just great and no problem whatsoever. We really made good use of both the clothes washer and dishwasher, very handy.

Gorgeous and cozy country retreat

This property was the perfect place for us to rest our bones after a very long travel day! We did takeout dinner and breakfast and just lazed around. Clean and comfy, nice and cozy - you will love it!

We really enjoyed our time here. Beds were comfy and linens were lovely. Lots of added touches, such as dog amenities, extra toothbrushes, coffee and cream, etc. it was very cozy and comfortable. Thanks so much!

This accomodation is very private located in a separate building. It is very comfortable and many extras are provided. It has a complete kitchen with nearly everything needed for an extended stay. It is delightful in its farm setting, and close to Sydney as well as Victoria. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here.

Beautiful property, comfortable stay

I booked this property for 7 family members who were coming to town for a family function. They were very happy with their stay. The property is gorgeous, the hosts are very easy to communicate with. The suite was very clean, all beds were comfortable and everyone reported a good night sleep. Location is very close to both the ferry terminal and the airport. Close to Sidney, which they loved. Would recommend for sure!

Very nice barn house and people. Tidy and clean rooms. Beautiful farm view and lovely animals. There is even a picnic basket ready for you. Most important thing - pet friendly - our dog loves here. It is not far from Sydney and the sea side, pretty convinient for grocery. My family and friends enjoyed the stay here.

Wonderful!

Loved the stay. Tess thought of everything. The space is light and airy, big and comfortable. The vintage turkeys amusing with their gobbles. The willow tree in the inlet was so sweet and we enjoyed the sound of the rain on the metal roof.

Shirt and sweet stay

We had a wonderful one night stay at Tess’s very lovely farm! We had our children with us, and Tess was so warm and welcoming. We loved meeting all the farm animals. The guesthouse was had every thing we needed and we are so grateful for all the children’s books and games that were so thoughtfully added! This is a really wonderful place to bring your family! We hope to be back again! Thank you to Tess and her family for having us!

a lovely stay, highly recommend.

Our family of 5 (myself, partner and child plus my parents) really enjoyed our week at the Country Retreat. The guesthouse is very bright and clean, with ample space to cook, eat and relax. Very well stocked kitchen. Highlights: feeding the compost to the chickens, hunting for lizards on the rocks, petting Buster the cat, enjoying the gorgeous scenery on the farm. Beaches and Sidney are a short drive, as is the lovely Horth Hill for trails and friendly hikers. Victoria is close enough for a day trip. Also, both the ferry and the airport are nearby, which made for easy travel.Hosts were extremely kind and friendly. Highly recommend!

Awesome and relaxing

This is a very nice place and the host is super helpful and kind. Need to take the kids to play? A park like a 3 minute drive. Walk to the beach? A nice 15 minute walk where you will probably spot some deer. Need some supplies? A short drive into town (8minutes). I was super impressed with how clean everything was and how well stocked the kitchen was with spices and other cooking essentials. It was great to have a peaceful getaway. Thanks again for everything Tess!

Hi! I'm Tess. I love to travel, and have been using short-term rentals as a preferred method of travel for years, and that gave me the idea to become a host myself. Plus, my property is a touch of heaven, and I want to share the beauty of it with other, like-minded people.
At home I am a believer in the importance of good quality food, integrity in farming practices, sustainability, and spending time daily with the people (and animals) that I love.
My family and I love to be on the ocean. It is a huge passion of ours, and great family time. We enjoy fishing, prawning, and crabbing. We are so fortunate to have the Gulf Islands National Park as our ocean playground and we love to explore hiking trails, cuisine, beaches and bays, and historical sites on all the different islands.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

My family and I have lived, and raised our children on this farm for over 15 years. We love the lifestyle, and the serenity of it. It is not unusual to see horses trotting down the road, or donkey's out for a walk.
Owls and Eagles are residents, as are many varieties of hawks and herons. It is an area very well known to bird-lovers. There have been sightings of rare birds here that can plug the street like Justin Bieber visiting. Ha ha!
We love the neighbourhood because it is our secret little hidden piece of heaven. We feel so fortunate to be able to listen to the birds singing while we have coffee on our deck and watch our baby pigs, or cows, or lambs graze the fields. I think that we live our lives in a more balanced ratio of 50:50 time spent indoor to outdoor. Something that a lot of people don't have the ability to do. Farm-life has gives me the opportunity to nourish my family in so many ways than just good food in their bellies.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

We are unique because we are a farm in the middle of the city. We are so fortunate to be able to raise our own food, and be fairly self-sustaining, yet have everything from shops, to beaches, to hiking, to museums, to cinemas right in our back yard. There are not a lot of places that you can have the serenity and beauty of country life, and all the amenities you could need, and more, 5 min away.
