My wife and I took a long weekend break and stayed in the Shawood Bottling Room. It was a wonderful stay. Nice high ceilings, good kitchen, parking, etc. Everything we were hoping for. We made our way up the paddock to watch the sunset each night, which was a great suggestion from the host. Not a critique, but I would have loved to have the option to purchase some local wine too. Mind you, we did shop ourselves at the various cellar doors. A great space and location to get away from it all.

Hi we are Melissa and Charles Tym, we have lived in Mudgee on Shawwood Estate for 20 years, but have had the property for 30 years. Charles was originally form Coonamble and I was a Sydney girl. We lived and worked in IT in Sydney and raised 3 daughters until the eldest was 10 when we moved them all to Mudgee full time. We love meeting our guests when they are out walking up the hill to the firepit or wandering around the property feeding apples or carrots to the horses. We get a great deal of satisfaction from happy guests, we love sharing our beautiful spot with everyone.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

We decided to stay full time in Mudgee, its so peaceful and beautiful, the hills and sunsets are always wonderful and while we are on 85 acres we are so close to town its easy and quick to get anything you need. (or pop in quickly for coffee). The property was named after Charles family property in Coonamble and originally we grew grape and made wine. Then in 2005 we started an internet business (an offshoot from the Sydney IT business). so the winery and cellar door eventually became office space. A few years ago we sold the business and retired, but the building was too good to go to waste so we converted to the current Villas.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Shawwood Estate is unique in that it is large acreage but still close to town and the wineries. We have a wonderful aspect looking back to town and the surrounding hills so you can see the lights of Mudgee come alive at night. You can see sheep, cows, horses and alpaca's, and sometimes kangaroos as well just walking around the property. You can take a wonder through our own forest and we also have a fantastic view from the top of our hill where we have a fire pit to experience spectacular views of the sunset and if your up early the sunrise over the hills.
