Not their fault
My husband and I brought our grandkids, 5, and 7 for a holiday in June. The property itself was clean and reasonably well-appointed. The deck is new. It does have a narrow spiral staircase to the loft which worried me with young children, but they did alright. Also the large windows up in the A frame need a way to keep scorching sun out. Beds were really comfortable and the washer and dryer were nice to have. The kids loved the jacuzzi. Kids also had a blast in the sandy beach. We also were able to hunt for arrowheads with the low water line.
The outlook, across to open fields was nice and we enjoyed their horses, to give carrots and apples. We saw a road-runner. The downside of our stay was that the lake was SUPER low due to the drought and the zebra mussels wreaked havoc on our hands and feet while swimming. It was SO low that the entry was narrow and rocks were covered. Creek sneaks are a MUST. We brought a jet ski and kayaks and were able to enjoy the lake.
The owner was kind and helpful and we would love to go back with more family renting the house next door (also their rental) when the water was higher. This is clearly not the fault of the owners, but renters need to watch the water levels.
