Fantastic week at Provender

Our family of seven (2 seniors, 4 millennials and a toddler) had a wonderful time at Provender House. The layout allowed gave everyone privacy when they wanted, and the living/dining area had plenty of room for group meals, games and just spending time together. The beach was spectacular, and it was wonderful to be able to walk for miles in bare feet. Andrea gave us top-notch housekeeping service, and having a washer and dryer meant we didn't have to bring so many clothes. We enjoyed many Eleuthera restaurants, including two great meals at the Windemere Club. We would return to Provender in a heartbeat.

 Aa great stay at an idyllic location!

Our recent Provender House 1 week stay was excellent. 1. The drive to the house on Windemere is beautiful just to start. 2. The view from the house to the pink sand beach is stunning. Several of our party exclaimed about it when we first entered the door. You are on 5 miles of beautiful pink sand beach with a normally gentle surf - as the reef breaks the waves. During our stay I only saw two people far down the beach one day, and another day one person walked by us. Plus, it is a less than a 5-minute drive or bike ride to the other side of Windemere island where you will find a completely calm beach and “beach club” with a shaded pavilion. We saw turtles and a friendly dolphin there. 3. The house is well maintained and comfortable with a quite well-equipped kitchen. Note that they can configure the bedrooms with 2 twin beds into kings if you need different sleeping arrangements than those shown on the listing. 4. Pam (the rental agent) provided excellent information on dining and activities on Eleuthera. Pam was very responsive to all our questions and made great suggestions. 5. The Property manager Bobbette and her husband William went way beyond to resolve any issues we had, including getting a water tank truck and plumber out in short order when our tank went dry (apparently because the Eleuthera water system wasn't functioning well one day) 6. All in all, a great stay at an idyllic location!

A week on the beach

Perfect location, beautiful beach, excellent food nearby at the club and super-helpful staff. The house isn't new or shiny, if that's what you're looking for, but it worked well for us. We had a great week and can't wait to go again. Thank you to everyone there!

Private paradise

Provender is the best home at the finest location on Windermere Island. It's historic charm is matched by the large and family friendly layout - fit for extended groups offering privacy and intimacy yet common spaces for the entire entourage to gather. Perfect Island Escape

Stunning Oceanfront Home - PARADISE found!

Having vacationed in the BVI for the past 17 years, it was a very difficult decision to go elsewhere, but now we cannot imagine going anywhere but to Windermere. Truly a remote tropical paradise with no crowds - you might see 1 person while walking the gorgeous 5 mile pink sand beach looking out at the tranquil turquoise blue waters. And the Sound, which is a 10 minute walk from Provender, is also another wonderful spot, especially if you like to fish. If you enjoy seclusion, this is the right location! Provender is just as it is pictured and very comfortable. Each room has wonderful ocean views and the cool Atlantic breezes were so delightful that no AC was needed. The kitchen is well appointed with everything one would need. The house was absolutely perfect for us. It was great to be able to walk over to the sound and also to The Club for dinner. Thanks to Matt Simons with Eleuthera Vacation Rentals, who assisted us not only with our reservation, but with our many questions and also made excellent suggestions. Mahalia was there daily to clean and was a delight. Bobette, our onsite property manager was wonderful and prepared a Bahamian meal for us that was "over the top". We also enjoyed dining at the Club. We ventured out for lunch at Tippy's one day, which was closed and ate at The Beach House which was great. We never found time to make it to Habour Island, as we could not bear to leave Windermere that long! There is not one negative thing we can say about our trip, other than it is over. We look most forward to returning. We almost hate to write a review for fear that this paradise will be discovered by too many. Cindy & Larry (South Carolina)

Can’t be fussy if you stay here.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house has the most amazing views, but you cannot expect five star accommodations & amenities. The house has a great location & sweeping ocean views, but the actual lodging itself needs major repairs & renovations. The house was very clean when we arrived & Checkin was easy. The two front bedrooms on either side of the house have great views, but the air conditioners struggle to keep the rooms cool at night because the drafty outside doors and windows suck in too much hot air for the small bedroom units to cool the rooms off at night, so sleeping is sticky. The mattresses and pillows need replaced along w the bed sheets, ours had holes in them. The bathrooms & living/dining room spaces were nice & cool with enough furniture for 8 people. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals, but the crack under the kitchen door allowed critters to come in during the night. We found land crabs in the kitchen sink & big spiders on the counters in the morning. There is a wood covering on a front bedroom door that leads to the outside....a palmetto rat-that has nested in the roof/rafters came into the house one evening-yikes! Outdoors the house has an expansive beach, but the beach chairs all need replaced. They are old & broken & pinch your skin when you try to use them. The bikes are a nice option for exploring, but they all either have flat tires & broken seats, riding them is very difficult. The kayaks & paddle boards were very nice. The clubhouse pool was a swamp-couldn’t swim. The management team was easy to work with & the grounds keeper & his wife are amazing people.Overall, this property needs serious repairs & attention. For the money you spend on this rental, everything should be better than 4 stars, which it isn’t. If you are fussy-which honestly we are not super fussy-you should not stay here until some renovations are scheduled. The view & people make this an ok rental, but the house itself needs lots of work done to bring it up to a th

I am very sorry to hear you were disappointed with certain things in the house. All of your comments have of course been noted. The house is having renovations done in September and October - a new kitchen, new walk-in showers in all the bathrooms, new sliding screens on the balcony doors, and any drafty doors and windows will be addressed. All items like beach loungers, bicycles, bed linen, towels, etc, will also be replaced as needed. The pool at the Club is usually beautifully maintained, so that was an aberration.

Lovely spot

We would definitely go back. The only negative is that it's quite a drive away from most excursions or toursity stuff. The house decor was good. The kitchen lacked some good sharp knives and we could have used a few more outside beach lounge chairs for the beach so everyone in our party had one to sit on. This would not stop us for returning but sure would be nice! We LOVED this place! Thanks for the great hospitality!

Beautiful Views

The views from the house are amazing. The house is very nice and well equipped with everything we needed. The grocery stores and restaurants are pretty far away so we chose to have a cook do meals twice a day. I would definitely recommend this. We used Kaynell and Pebbles from A Taste of Di Island and they were fantastic.

Bobbett was there every day to check on us and see if there was anything that we needed. The maid service was perfect as well. We plan to be back soon.

Wonderful stay in Eleuthera!

We had a wonderful week at Provender. The house sits right on the beach. A beautiful place to stay, or explore the island. Sun, swimming in the ocean, relaxing on the deck. Beds are very comfortable. Communication was excellent with homeowners. We had a few issues with the AC in one of the bedrooms and some of the other amenities didn't quite work, but that couldn't dampen our stay in a beautiful place. Overall, a terrific week in paradise!

Paradise

My family stayed here for several days and had a magnificent time. The view and beach are unparalleled. The rooms each have their own bathroom so you have privacy and the communal space. The property manager helped us get a cook for one night and we enjoyed the club and other restaurants other nights. We enjoyed the beach for hours including the paddle boards. We also got out to some other sites for snorkeling where the coral life was truly pristine. A simple but lovely life. Highly recommend.

Lovely Location Needs TLC

We had a lovely stay. With that, we arrived to a humid, hot, wet house and an AC repair van. Our first night, we experienced AC issues that lasted throughout the stay. One bedroom and the living room blew hot air the entire seven night stay, even after I mentioned it to the property manager. The repair technician never came back. One bathroom had a tub that didn't drain. That, thankfully, was fixed. The lamp on my bedside table was missing it's lampshade. The towels were ripped, frayed, had bleach stains, and were old and rough. The bed linens were old and scratchy. We ran out of water twice and when it was fixed the second time, the water was orange. My daughter had a tarantula and crabs in her bedroom throughout the stay. Grout missing on countertop and ants in kitchen everyday. The curtains in our bedroom were stained as was the dressing table top. We've been traveling to this island for decades. Never have I stayed in a home in such need of care. And, we were told days before our arrival that the pool was closed for repairs. All of that aside, we had a fun vacation snorkeling, fishing, splashing in the waves, and exploring. We asked for a partial refund and were ignored. This is a lovely island with lovey homes and lovely people and this home has a history and reputation that demands quality. My hope is that the owner fixes the issues for future renters.

You are correct, I have been unable to travel to the house during COVID due to UK travel restrictions, and the house has been a bit neglected. We are in the process of addressing all these issues and should soon be back to the standard we have maintained for many years.

Nightmare! Don’t waste your money!

We rented this property before Covid happened and when it did the owners wouldn’t give us our money back so we waited over a year and a half to stay there. The house was a nightmare. We arrived to only half the house with working air conditioning. Called immediately and was told they would send someone out and never did. We had to cram 10 people into two bedrooms for the remainder of the trip. The electricity went out half way through the trip. Since the generator was down and had been for weeks they told us we were out of luck. With no electricity that means no air conditioning and no water! You can’t open doors and windows because of bugs and got so hot in the house one of our kids got sick. After 30 hours without electricity, air and water, we left and took early flights home. It was very disappointing waiting so long for a trip to have hosts that don’t care that you are staying there in those conditions. The island is beautiful and recommend going but please do NOT stay at this house!

And now the truth: The power was out for 12 hours (not 30) and the generator failed that day (not weeks before) and has since been fixed. Most houses on the island don’t have generators, because power outages are typically brief and not a problem, so this house is actually better prepared for a power outage than most. Please see our 30 other excellent reviews. Attention other owners: Do not rent to this guest. She tried to extort us and left a false review.

Couldn't have dreamed of more

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Provender is a perfect place to spend a vacation on a private island off Eleuthera. It has everything you need to unwind and relax. The house is spacious, clean, well laid out, perfectly located with views of the beach and Atlantic. Beach access is steps away. There are two patios, one in the back of the house and one facing east to the Atlantic. Perfect for early morning sunrises and even better for late night patio sitting and star gazing. Thank you to Bobbett, the housekeeper, and William, the property manager. They are reason enough to return to Provender. Thank you to Eleuthera Vacation Rentals for helping manage our trip through a length delay due to Covid.
