Nice house, owner was problematic
We were in FL for the Homeschool world series. Our team has been returning to this neighborhood for several years, but after this experience, this home will not be on the rent-again list. While the home itself is nice and accommodating, the issue was with the owner. She was monitoring our activity via the neighbors and had them go so far as to take pictures and videos of our car that was temporarily parked on the street. We received an email riddled with false accusations, including stating we broke the 10pm noise curfew when the rules we were given stated an 11pm curfew. We were also told anyone not on the rental agreement is not allowed in the home. Our team rented 15 houses in the neighborhood, and our primary purpose in renting this home was to allow us to share cooking duties and give the boys a place to relax after a long day of baseball; hence our decision to rent a 5-bedroom home, despite only 3 people staying there. After being informed we could no longer use the house to satisfy our primary purpose, the owner extended this by telling us my mother and her boyfriend could not come over for lunch. This resulted in additional unanticipated expenses as all meals we had planned on doing in the home had to be held at alternative locations. The owner’s emails were full of emotional ruin, emphasizing how disappointed and heartbroken she was about having us stay in her home and embarrass her to her neighbors. Overall, this drained our energy and made the experience terrible.
