You've found the perfect spot to enjoy Lake Living. Spectacular views in a private retreat on Lake James with this 5 Bedroom 3 Bath lake front home with private dock. Enter the house & you're greeted to an open floor plan with soaring ceilings. The entire house was updated with new furnishings purchased in 2017.
This home has a large fully stocked kitchen featuring a big island and plenty of room to entertain family and friends. The main floor also provides access to the screened porch and large deck overlooking the lake.
Your vacation home will comfortably sleep 12 with the following bedding:
1 King
2 Queens
2 Bunk Bed Pairs (sleeps 4)
2 twins
The house was designed to host multiple families with 2 kitchens & 2 living areas. The main floor provides 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a full kitchen featuring a large island. The lower level provides 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with a kitchenette and ping pong table.
Guests enjoy cable TV on the 3 high def TVs and broadband internet with WiFi access is provided.
Once outside guests are welcomed with a small sandy beach and fire pit at waters edge. Out on the lake we have a private dock where you'll have the use of our 2 paddleboards and a kayak which provide a great way to explore and enjoy beautiful Lake James. If you'd like to do more extensive exploring on the lake we're happy to refer you to a couple of marinas that offer pontoon boat rentals.
The house provides everything necessary for a great base to ensure you enjoy a fun & relaxing vacation on the most beautiful lakes in the Carolinas.
Guests will have access to entire property both inside and outside
We respect & ensure the privacy of our guests however we have a team available to quickly address any needs &/or requests
Holiday Shores is a terrific neighborhood that offers beautiful lake access and lake views.
A car is a necessity around Lake James. However, there are great hiking and biking trails nearby. A boat is nice & we provide Stand-up Paddle Boards and a kayak. Pontoon boats and jet skis are also available for rent on the lake.
There is much to explore around Lake James.

Beautiful home for a family vacation!

Very comfortable home, we had a wonderful stay! Matt & Bhavana were very responsive and helpful. We booked a boat for a few days and it's a great spot for enjoying the lake. The walk to the dock is steep, but WAY easier than many of the other homes we saw. The view is lovely and the property felt very private. We took day trips to the Biltmore and a few hiking spots, and had some meals in Marion and Morganton; while feeling quite remote, it's not too far away from anything you might need! We also cooked a lot, and the kitchen was roomy enough for three of us to cook/prep and the others to sit around the island chatting. Definitely would book again!

Staff Retreat

Everything was wonderful... the house, the fire pit, and the dock. We were able to have our personal boat, with room to dock it.

Family Fun

Fantastic home! Loved the layout, kitchen, bedrooms. We ate breakfast every day on the screened in porch. Walked down to the lake for a float or swim or paddle board. The teens loved jumping off the dock at the house and s’mores at night by the fire pit. Loved fishing off the dock. The beds were really comfortable!

Quick visit

Matt was so great at accommodating our big group for a family funeral. We needed a really short stay and an unusual start time and he went the extra mile to make it happen. We were so grateful to have been able to stay together at such a hard time for our family. And the property is gorgeous!!!!

Great getaway!

Plenty of room for everyone to gather together, well stocked kitchen, the extra fridge was clutch, we hung out on the dock all weekend, quiet little cove for a holiday, lovely screened porch to enjoy the evenings and when it rained... we all agreed we would rent again!

Great for Fishing and kayaking

Access to the water is amazing if you enjoy Kayaking. Can also fish off the boat dock and backyard area. Plenty of room in the house for families. Close access to a boat rental and bait store. House and yard is well kept. Easy access to residence and easy check in procedures!! Really enjoyed this house and would like to come back!!

Beautiful home on lake cove

This home was perfect for our vacation , with plenty of space for each family unit. We enjoyed card games on the screened porch in the evenings. The house is pristine clean, has a spacious well stocked kitchen, and the beds all comfortable. The firepit is a cozy spot to gather and look out over the lake. We look forward to returning!

Lovely Lake House

The driveway was scary. Ground keeper came and blew leaves off which helped. Having 3 ovens was awesome for preparing Thanksgiving dinner. Of course, 2 refrigerators were also much appreciated. Fire ban was lifted so we enjoyed pit fires in the evenings.

Beautiful house

House is beautiful, clean & great location. We had a great time relaxing on the porch, around fire pit & in the chairs on the dock. Kitchen is stocked & we felt very comfortable. Thank you so much for opening your home to us! We will be back😀

Beautiful Lake House

Spacious 5-bedroom lake house that was well furnished. Communications and instructions were straight-forward and easy. Kitchen well stocked with everything needed should you want to dine in. Enjoyed the paddleboards and kayak. Ping pong table was a bonus. Would rent again.

Perfect vacation with friends and family

Perfect house for multi generational group. We enjoyed the kayak and paddle boards, swimming ogg the dock. Easy docking for our pontoon boat. Fire pit, pong pong, basketball, cor hole. Great kitchen. Perfect.

5 bedroom lake house that delivers.

Fully equipped does not begin to describe how well this owner has furnished their home for your fun and enjoyment. Fabulous kitchen, comfortable rooms, huge screened in porch, ping pong, cornball, 3 paddleboards/kayak, fire pit/chairs/firewood, dock situated in quiet finger of lake. If they would provide lots of bathroom hooks to hang towels/bathing suits/wet clothes I would deem it perfect.

Bar has been set!

This was our 7th year of vacationing in the Mountains and we have finally found our spot. The property offered everything we needed and more. The upgrades the owners have done from the original post are awesome. Love having two kitchens, the covered screened in porch and the lower level for corn hole. The location is very easy and convenient for site seeing. The number 1 advantage was having a open golf course within a half mile. Can’t wait to go back.

Amazing Lake House & Beautiful Views

My brothers and I had a great stay in this wonderful lake house! The house was perfect for all of us, it was equipped with everything we needed, and the location was beautiful. It’s easy to get to the marina and local shopping. Fishing was good and we hope to stay here again. Hosts were very accommodating and super nice. Highly Recommend!

Wedding trip

This rental was most convenient to my Granddaughters wedding at the Grooms fathers lake house about a half mile away. We cans early and stayed an extra day having enjoyed the property so much. The ony criticism was the lack of clothes hangers. There were only two, but my daughter from Fort Mill, SC brought a bunch when they arrived to stay with us. We only needed the upstairs for the whole stay. The water was great and the weather cooperated for the outdoor wedding Saturday at 4PM the 13th. May come back next year for a longer stay.

Awesome place to stay

Such a nice place to get away. It's clean, inviting, roomy, and perfect spot on the lake. Screened in porch was perfect to have your morning coffee on..so peaceful! Communication with owner was so easy and enjoyable.

Absolutely Perfect!!!

This is the type of VRBO you want to buy for your personal home! Absolutely perfect! I can’t think of anything missing guaranteeing wonderful time together with your family. My family came in from NY, MO and NC to celebrate Thanksgiving AND Christmas. Initially, I was concerned the family would have difficulty finding the location. However, the site is off Hwy 40 down a few miles on a straight, maintained highway. The home has two kitchens and three ovens - a huge bonus! The home is an open floor plan perfect for entertaining large groups. The outdoor area was the second must for our group. Bonfires every night under the beautiful stars, overlooking the lake. We enjoyed hikes at a nearby state park. Last minute grocery items available at an Ingles Grocery only minutes away. We didn’t take advantage of using their kayak or boards this time. Next time for sure. Last but not least, the owners are extremely accommodating and kind! They obviously take a great deal of pride in providing their beautiful home to VRBO renters.

Lake James Family Vacation

Everything about this rental was so easy from checking in with a door code to prompt communication with the owner if we had questions. The home accommodated us well. We cooked big meals every evening and enjoyed sitting down together for dinner on the screened in porch. The lake was so gorgeous - the beautiful color of the water and the layered mountain views brought a spacious peace we all appreciated. We boated, fished, enjoyed the fire pit with hot dog roast and s’mores, played games, went on hikes at the nearby state park trials, visited the Linville Caverns, enjoyed great food and laughter. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

We are Matt & Bhavana. A family with young kids and we enjoy vacations that allow us to get away and spend time together with opportunities to both be active & relax. Our kids just love the water and their most memorable vacations have been at lake, beach or the mountains. We live in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Our kids have always loved the water. Matt grew up on Lakes and when we visited Lake James and saw how beautiful and clean the water was, how little traffic Lake James receives, and the great hiking and fishing in the area, we fell in Love with it!

As parents of young kids, it was also important for us to be in a place not too far off from having access to good organic groceries, shops and great restaurants for nice evening out - Morganton offers all of this. And we have a few great wine vineyards and breweries providing excellent venues for drink, live music and dining.

Our hope is that we can share this experience with other families & you will also find your bliss at Lake James.

We fell in love with this house with it's unique style, open floor plans, & large kitchen (Love to Cook!)! The private dock with such a beautiful view of the lake where we can experience breath taking sunrises!
