Gather with family and friends, or business associates at this spacious five-bedroom retreat surrounded by 11 peaceful acres in the North Carolina foothills. With room for up to 10 guests, 3.5 bathrooms, multiple gathering areas, oversized porches, a private backyard and a firepit, everyone has space to relax while still enjoying time together. Start the morning with coffee on the back patio, share meals in the large eat-in kitchen or formal dining room, and end the evening around the firepit beneath the trees. The main floor includes an ensuite bedroom for guests who prefer to avoid stairs.
Located in Burke County near Morganton and Valdese, the home provides a peaceful country setting with convenient access to Lake James, waterfalls, hiking, biking, wineries, golf, breweries, restaurants and live music. There is a ring doorbell camera on the front door.

The house was clean & offered enough room for 9 people to sleep & eat. We had a dinner for everyone in the dining room one evening & we had no problem fitting around the table. The long driveway that circles the house allowed us to unload groceries in the back near the kitchen & park several vehicles. The area around the house allowed us to go for walks & stay on the property. We had an enjoyable stay.

Family Christmas

My family and Ihad a wonderful time. The house was great,enough room to jion together and recoup alone. We hope to rent again. Cynthia was friendly and easy to contact,also very helpful.

Poor

Although we thought the property was stepping back in time, we realized the property was neglected. First, NO towels in bathrooms, no toaster, the dish washer did not work & some of the TVs in bedrooms did not work. I would not stay there again.

Oh my goodness Maggi, I am absolutely shocked. We have never had anyone disappointed before. 1. We do not put towels in the bathrooms. A guest knows they are clean when they find them in the linen closet. 2. We do not currently have a toaster, but if you had communicated that you needed one we would have had one delivered to you with a smile. 3. I feel like you may not know how to use the dishwasher because it is less than a year old and we have never had trouble with it. I am so sorry the tv’s were not working. Again if you had communicated this to me, we would have had someone there taking care of the issue. Again I have never had this complaint. I so wish you would have communicated your problems. We are just three southern sisters aiming to provide a clean comfortable home for our guests. Best wishes to you and your family.

Great Place for large families.

We had one of the best Thanksgiving Dinners ever. The floor plan was ideal to have groups in different rooms. The 4 bathrooms was a must for our group. We would consider this home again in the future.

Large, quiet and secluded property

Large, comfortable and fun home and property offering privacy and within driving distance of varied outdoor opportunities. The long tree lined drive is a great feature. As are the large porches. There was mention of the garage in the listing but it was locked. I would have pulled in to keep the bikes out of the rain without having to unload the bike rack but it wasn’t a big deal.

Our dad was a professional photographer for many years and our mother was a light oil artist. They designed this property as a place for the extended family to gather for holidays and special occasions, of which we did for many years. This home place has always been full of joy, peace and love. We, my sisters and I, hope your stay is as restful and peaceful as we always find it to be.

Vacationing at The Foothills Retreat means versatility. You and your guests can choose how and when you want to visit. There is space for closeness such as preparing meals together in the eat in kitchen, enjoying movies in the family room, roasting marshmallows by the firepit or playing outside with the children. Are you working remote? There's an office with access to the upstairs porch for breaks in your workday. Looking to slip away from the group to catch up on that interesting novel? There's a formal living room, patio and porch with porch swing to hide from the group for a short time. Be sure to take time to enjoy the birds, rabbits and deer as they visit too. One more thing . . . expect quiet slumber waking to a rooster crowing in the distance. :)
