Loved this place!

We’ve stayed at other places but this was the best all around! It was beautiful, there was everything we could want/need! It was a perfect place to get away!

Mauna Kea fun

Fabulous property! As described on the site, this home has everything and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved the spa and pool after a day at the beach and the bbq came in handy with two dinners. Our family would definitely recommend this home and we will hopefully return soon!

Stunning stay

This was a beautiful property with an amazing kitchen…well equipped and top of the line appliances both indoor and out. Very spacious home with nice separation of bedrooms for privacy. The only down side was the out door furniture was not comfortable for lounging.

Great house at Mauna Kea

This was a great house! Perfect for us, my parents and our two teens. Great layout. Kitchen was well equipped. Garage was stocked with water toys etc. Comfortable beds. Easy check in and check out. Highly recommend!

Great experience

We really enjoyed the property. The entire experience was first class, with prompt and clear communication before arrival and for questions while at the property. Everything clean and well maintained, high end kitchen for cooking, and beautiful views of golf course and ocean. Only bummer was inability to open sliding glass wall between dining area and deck due to pool alarm, but understand the reason. We would definitely stay again.

We apologize that you felt that the pool alarms were a nuisance during your stay, but Hawaii law requires that all homes with pools have these in place. Just like fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, these are only intended to keep our guests and their families safe. When you rent from Paradise in Hawaii you know you are renting from a professional Property Management Company that adheres to safety laws, and also cares about the safety of you and your loved ones.

Perfect house on Big Island

House was as advertised: Great location, spacious (easily fit 6 of us), well maintained, with all the amenities. Working with the property manager was a breeze. We got the Mauna Kea resort privileges, which gave us access to the beaches and gyms at both the Mauna Kea and Westin hotels (they are right next to each other). Preferred the beach at Westin (Hapuna beach slightly more beautiful, plus quality and service at the pool restaurant better). Overall, we can definitively recommend this house/neighborhood and would come back here if we were to visit the Big Island again.

Great location but stay in a different unit

Overall, we loved the location, but were disappointed with the number of issues with our particular unit. We were given the wrong gate code and couldn't get through the gate when we arrived at 10:30 at night. Once we finally got to our unit, we discovered the doors to the pool all had alarms and couldn't be opened for longer than 7 seconds. During our stay, we discovered the TV didn't work, the grill didn't work, the bathtub wouldn't hold water, the garage door stopped working, and one of the two bikes provided with the unit had a broken pedal and couldn't be used. Oh, and the outdoor furniture collapsed when I sat on it (I'm a fairly small woman for reference). Each time we had a problem, the property management team addressed it, but overall it seemed like the property wasn't maintained very well. I was disappointed with all of the issues that came up during our stay. That said, the house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The location was great and we enjoyed the clubhouse and the resort amenities.

Lovely Place

This is a lovely home. Very generously provided for (lots of towels, bedding, snorkels and boogie boards, things like olive oil and salt and pepper to help you get going). The pool is small but fun for splashing and the view of the sunset is awesome. The pool was a bit dirty when we arrived because of the recent fires but after some chasing of the management company this was fixed after two days with a pool cleaner. We never quite got our head round how the hot tub worked and the engineer told us the heating element had broken. But it was hot sometime, not others and we enjoyed it when it was hot. Should stress that you CANNOT sit with the "inside / out" patio doors wide open due to the alarm that has to be on (doors open for max 20 seconds before it pierces like a smoke alarm). It does look as if previous tenants have looked to "innovate" around this though given some of the broken parts in the kitchen drawers! Cooking, utensils and utilities all great and new. The other pool etc. area is really nice, though a bit of a hike up the hill. Felt v safe. I think I would stay here again and they were great to accommodate us at short notice when we had to rearrange all our Maui plans. So thank you.

So many issues, would not recommend

Stayed 4/9-4/14. There are several misleading items in the listing. This is not an indoor/outdoor living space as the photos suggest. If you leave the sliding doors open for more than 5 seconds a very loud alarm sounds until you close the doors. It is awful. The mgmt claims it is a law for homes with pools, but we have rented a home in Kona and this was not the case. The listing states there is a hot tub. It is not heated upon arrival. It is up to the guest to heat it, which was not communicated. It would drain of all water as it “spilled” over into the pool. Each day it was full and cold in the a.m., then we would heat it and return after our day at the beach to find only about a foot of water in it. It would not fill all evening. We would wake to it being full and cold again. This was the cycle every day. Totally useless. A few other annoyances; 1st 24 hours we had no hot water, the tv in the main living space does not connect to WiFi, so no streaming of shows or music is possible on it. Also, the house is a duplex, which was not stated in listing. Lastly, there is no need to pay the extra daily fee for use of the Mauna Kea/Westin resorts. The beaches are public access (though parking may be a challenge) and anyone can order drinks/food from the resort beach bars. No wonder they ask you to commit to the cost of the resort access prior to arrival, so you don’t see how unnecessary it is. All grievances were told to mgmt during our stay. Worst vrbo experience we have had.

needs things

for a place that sleeps 8 the glass ware is too limited ... it needs more medium sized glass ware for serving milk, juice ect. 4 old red wine glasses and one white is nothing short insulting to the price level of unit for the renter. The paper goods are below Motel 6 standars ... and it needs a clean up free almost hands free Kurig. B3

Thank you very much for this feedback. We have since implemented a new system where the housekeepers and inspectors who follow afterwards now use a detailed 100 item checklist for each clean. We would have been very happy to address these items during your stay had they been brought to our attention.

Great place for 2 families

We had an overall lovely stay at Mauna Kea Dream. The house is tastefully decorated and has a great layout and lots of space to fit two families comfortably. Our kids loved the pool and hot tub. Our biggest disappointment/annoyance was the pool alarms on all the doors leading outside. You cannot leave any door open for more than 7 seconds or an obnoxious loud alarm goes off. We felt all the beautiful pictures showing the sliding glass doors open were very misleading, and that was a big reason we wanted this house. So renter beware, you do not get to enjoy that feature. I understand it's a safety measure, but feel the house should not have been advertised that way. We contacted the rental agency and they said "sorry". Getting the resort pass is a must. The garage was stocked with lots of beach gear, loved having the boogie board, but all the snorkel gear was either broken or missing key parts. As stated earlier, the doors/windows to the outside were never open, but there were lot of little ant like bugs in the bathroom sinks/showers/tubs, and a few cockroaches and lizards were noticed. Given all the bug traps around the house, it's probably endemic. The neighborhood is really nice, we didn't use the club house but it looked nice, peaceful and clean.

LOVE THIS PLACE

This property is gorgeous, the home is spacious and beautiful, quiet and peaceful. My family enjoyed it, the pool and hot tub was the main feature. Everything about it was amazing! We were blessed to have found such a relaxing, safe, comfortable place for us to enjoy each other. The communication with property owners were great too! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! Fabulous Mauna Kea Residence

We have stayed at the Wai Ula Ula community for 10 years. This is the absolute finest property we have ever rented. The home was in pristine shape, very well stocked with kitchen essentials and the outdoor extras including snorkeling, picnicking and biking gear were over the top! It was better than most 5 star hotel properties. We will definitely return to Mauna Kea Dream.

Dream vacation!!

This was, hands down, the most perfect place we have ever stayed on a family vacation. Beautiful, well equipped and comfortable home with awesome view and high end appliances. The added resort option was a serious plus, as we spent 90 percent of our time at the beach and various pools. Food is expensive at the resorts, but we mostly cooked at the amazing house and stuck to smoothies at the hotels. If you are looking for a real treat for a vacation, pick this house!!

Our family's Best Vacation

This is the way to go to get the best for a family vacation. The property is exactly as advertised. We are a family of 4 with two children (13 & 11). Honestly, we could have had a second family with us and still had more than enough space. The kitchen is huge. My kids loved seeing the goats on the golf course behind the home. The pool was relaxing. The lanai ideal for eating outside. Utilizing the resort privileges was key. You have access to the two best beaches on the island, amenities (towels, beach chairs, etc), and room charging for the restaurants. This property was worth ever penny.

Excellent location and great house only spoilt because of untidy ness.We were told to clean up for the next customers but neither the previous customer or house cleaner- if any - seemed to have done anything.Because of the surroundings critters all over were understandable but the infestation of cockroaches is a big NO NO!,, Lizards crawling into suit cases and beds wAs another shocker. We are sure the owner can definitely afford better house keepers

Prior to these guests arriving our team did multilevel checks and the home was immaculate.   The guests never contacted us (by phone, email or text) during their entire stay to indicate We reach out to all guests after arrival to make sure everything is perfect.   Only after they departed did they call making unsubstantiated claims and demands.   Despite their claim, we do not ask guests to clean other than to take their garbage out to the bins in the garage and to toss the beach towels in the washer to help speed things up for the next guest.    The home does have massive wall of lanai window/doors that open and disappear in the walls so guests should ensure not to leave them open in the evenings/nights or the lights will attract pests.   We pride ourselves on maintaining an immaculate home and being premier hosts across multiple properties with over 1000 five star reviews.  This home is one of the best equipped and maintained homes in this Mauna Kea community and guests love it and return for future stays.
