Wonderful place for a large family to have a great reunion. The owner is very attentive and answers very quickly. The area is beautiful with lots of outside activities in the area. He provides kayaks for adults and children. This is a must stay place.

Great place with lots of great accessories

Kayaks, cornhole and a ton of other things were included which is a great bonus. House was excellent for our large family.

lakeside lodge

this was an awesome place to stay. there was plenty of room for all 14 of us. the kitchen was very well stocked with everything you needed. plenty of towels, movies, games. great covered dock with picnic table. we had a great time and would go back there again

Fantastic -Quiet Setting

The property was described accurately. The kids had a great time fishing off the dock and playing the video games. I loved the tranquility of the mornings on the deck with coffee. Would highly recommend.

Great House

Your house is fantastic! We had a wonderful family vacation. The house was spacious, clean and well stocked with essentials. Stairs going down to the lake are a little tough but then again, we’re old - LOL. Thank you Tom, for making our annual family get together a very successful get together.

Unfortunately, even with just about 40 steps to the lake from the lower deck and a landing halfway down, we do have a sloped / rolling lot … but that's what makes the deep water so great at the dock. That same elevation continues into the water! Hope you'll join us again soon.

Great view

The place had a great view and sitting inside worked great for our group. We wish the kitchen was a little bigger. Also one of the downstairs room did not have the extra bed in it.

Sarah - really not sure why you gave us a low rating … the kitchen is clearly pictured along with a floorplan; and there are actually two extra roll away beds in the lower level closet under the steps and a third one in the balcony closet. Had you asked, we’d have been glad to share those locations - but the lower level closet isn’t even locked. - Tom

Great Vacation Home!

We have stayed at this home twice now and have had the best time! We love the dock, kayaks, sitting by the fire pit and relaxing in the hot tub under the stars! Location to the marina was perfect, although having two refrigerators plus a commercial ice maker meant that we didn’t need to get much of anything (except gas for the boat and jet ski we rented). Our kids loved boating and fishing during the day and at night they enjoyed playing Nintendo and watching the selection of family movies that were offered. We definitely recommend this vacation home and would stay here again and again!

Family trip

This home was Amazing! Our family Loved it! 14 of us were more than comfortable..plenty of room for us to spread out! Well stocked with everything you need for a vacation home. The Kayaks were a huge hit with our grandkids...Even our adult kids enjoyed them. Definitely got our workout with the steps! Tom was very helpful and gave valuable information when asked. I would highly recommend this home!

Thanksgiving at the Lake

The home was very clean and comfortable. We had 18 for Thanksgiving dinner and had plenty of place settings and silverware but no platters or serving pieces. Overall, the kitchen was well equipped and stocked. Our family enjoyed the home inside and outside, especially the kayaks. Tom was very communicative and responsive when we made reservations, planned our trip, and stayed at his house. The only downside was the steep gravel access.

Best lake cabin we’ve ever stayed in!

This home was huge, w 6 bedrooms and 2 gathering places, a large dining table and 4 bathrooms. The kitchen was so well supplied and all the beds were comfortable. There were lots of towels and a washer and dryer. There are 2 decks and a functioning hot tub ( this usually is not the case at places we have stayed). We enjoyed the gas fire pit and there is a wood fire pit too. Being right on the water, we enjoyed swimming in the lake and boating ( they have a boat slip and rent boats and jet ski). The owner communicated w us immediately when we needed information and was kind and generous in every way. We will be back!

Outstanding!

Our group of 13 women stayed in this beautiful lodge recently. I was so impressed with the amount of space we all had and the cleanliness of the home. Due to some irresponsible renters the week before us, the owner had to replace several key items and re-landscape right before our stay, but we never would have known- the property and house were in perfect condition when we arrived. I was so impressed with his prompt attention and the ease of communication with the owner. The house has a dock which is close to the marina where we rented a pontoon and spent a day on the beautiful water. The fire pit, hot tub, and multiple decks made for the most perfect girls weekend! I hope the occasion arrises to rent from this owner again!

We loved Lake Norris and enjoyed our stay at Lakeside Lodge

Lakeside Lodge was very easy to find, along with the recommended grocery stop. There were enough parking spaces right at the house for our 5 vehicles. Our family had 10 adults, and 7 children, including 3 teenagers. The 15 year old loved having his own space in the loft bedroom. We couldn’t have done this smoothly without the 2 refrigerators, ice machine, plenty of provided towels, washer/dryer, large grill and fully stocked kitchen (crockpots for chicken taco night!). The “boat captain” loved the covered boat slip and there is also parking for 2 jet skis. Everyone spent plenty of time at the dock, swimming, fishing and boarding the boat for tubing! There are 3 flights of steps from the water to the house, but are completely doable. I have double hip replacements and used the steps 4-5 times daily! We loved the fire table/hot tub deck with plenty of seating, and the 8 kayaks! We roasted our marshmallows for s’mores at the fire pit. Bonuses were the table top video game, cornhole area, picnic table on the dock, and a crawl space with extra “toys”.

Misleading answer/disappointing stay

Our family time at Lakeside Lodge had several disappointing aspects. 1. We visited the property we reserved in early March as we wanted to check it out before our June rental. We saw numerous houseboats and texted Tom to ask about them. He replied that they would be gone by early April. They most definitely were not!! There was a huge blue houseboat directly across from our dock and there were at least 20-25 others between us and the marina. We felt very misled!! It looked like a trailer park on water and NOT attractive at all. We have stayed for the last 3 summers on Lake Lure and we will definitely be back there next year- NOT interested in another stay with so many houseboats!! 2. Our cabin had apparently been painted the day before we arrived as there was a "wet paint" sign on the porch post as we arrived. The deck chairs were all stacked up on the front porch and the middle deck on top of the hot tub which were difficult to get back down. There were 2 big outside trashcans in the lower den, along with an outside bench that took 2 of us to get back outside. Also, the painters must have smoked a LOT because there were dirty ash trays on the bottom deck and the table looked like it had not been washed in months. I took a picture of the nasty paper towels I used to clean them up but can't figure out how to add them here. The deck cushions didn't look like they had been wiped down in months. 3. Dock area had 5 big tree size logs floating around-very unattractive!!

Host was very accommodating, easy to communicate with, and quickly resolved any questions we had! Location was tucked into a quiet portion of the flat hollow area that made Labor Day weekend feel peaceful.

House is on the lake , the road coming in is up top with a sharp bend with an incline hard turn for bigger vehicles. Have to go all the way down the marina and turn around is best option. Also, we found it easier to unload and load the boat at the Powell Marina access rather than the flat hollow. It’s just very crowded.

We enjoyed this part of the lake, less traffic. The kayaks and hot tub were nice additional amenities. Tom was quick to respond to all our needs.

Great house/ Lots to do!

We had a great renting experience. The property owner was always quick to answer any questions we had and I felt like there were so many things to do at the house. There was a great, clean hot tub, the gaming system downstairs, board games, and even some outside games like corn hole. We had a great time and couldn’t have asked for better!
