The Downtown House - 1820s home steps from Main Street in downtown Galena
Just steps from Main Street in downtown Galena, this beautifully rehabbed 1820s vacation rental home sleeps up to 7 people.
There is 1 reserved parking space for guests.
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots & pans, dishes, toaster, blender, Crockpot and more. There is a standard coffee maker. Coffee/tea and cream are provided. There is a washer and dryer (and detergent) if you need it for your personal use. Don't worry about washing the sheets and towels. That's my job :)
Enjoy the back deck that overlooks Main Street, central air conditioning, high-speed WiFi, board games, disco light, Bluetooth stereo and a streaming-ready/smart TV
There is a king bed in the master bedroom. The second bedroom upstairs is more of a loft setup and has 2 XL twin beds (no door and serves as access to the master bedroom). There is a twin bed (with an additional trundle) in the main floor bedroom and the living room has a sleeper sofa.
Bedding, towels, soap, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer and an iron are also provided.

It is said that location is everything, and it really is true! This lovely house is set one street back from Main and offers all the convenience that comes with access to shops, dining and historic landmarks. There are multiple coffee shops and delicious bakeries minutes from the house, making it easy to run and get a quick breakfast. Lauren was a great host and her house was the perfect get away for myself and four friends from high school for a weekend reunion. She provided all the amenities to make it easy for those of us traveling from a distance. Everything in the house was exactly as stated in the listing and we couldn't have been happier with it! Arriving on Friday, there was the included parking, but getting there early allowed us to get a second street spot for the weekend. Fantastic place and a really fun weekend!

The house is roomy with a great kitchen and location. Didn’t need to drive anywhere in town, except grocery store, and really enjoyed our time spent there.

The Downtown House is a block off Main Street. It is very accessible to shops, and it is easy to get to HWY 20 and grocery stores, gas stations, and the very interesting Galena Center of the Arts. It offers a parking space which is helpful since many visitors are parking on the nearby streets. Our hostess, Lauren was wonderful. I highly reccommend this rental.

Great location for ski trip!
Cute, cozy, comfortable house with a great location. Stayed with my family for a few days to go skiing at Chestnut Mountain. Less than a block from several restaurants, which was much appreciated after a long day on the slopes. Would definitely stay again!

Check-in and out were seemless. The house is super clean, adorable and had all of the amenities and then some. The owners thought of everything. We also spent a lot of time on the cozy back deck. We love visiting Galena and will definitely rent this amazing home again!

House is in the absolute perfect location for a girls weekend, 1 block from shopping & restaurants. Around the corner from great LIVE music on Fri & Sat. Enjoyed the back porch for some R & R time before dinner. Walking the levy to Grant Park was also awesome! Can't wait to return!Lauren is one of the best VRBO hosts, I have ever dealt with, communicated quickly. Shared suggestions, everything was perfect!

Girls Weekend
This property was in a perfect location. It was very clean and had many great updates. I would recommend this property for anyone who wants a fun girls weekend.

50th birthday get away
This was the perfect property for us. Once we arrived and parked the car we didn’t have to drive anywhere. We were able to walk Main Street and we were located just steps from several of our favorite restaurants and wineries. We enjoyed the fact there were enough beds for all of us and 2 bathrooms as well. The house was very well stocked and we enjoyed the extra blankets and pillows for movie night.

Great house, greater location
Perfect location in downtown Galena a short walk to shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The house was perfect for my family of 5 with a bed for everyone. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner in the well stocked kitchen and had no problem finding whatever utensil or pot/pan that we needed. The house was very clean and stocked with towels, soap, shampoo, etc... We will not hesitate to rent it again.

We had a group of six adults celebrating a 60th birthday working with Lauren was easy and seamless. The home is so cute and located perfectly within walking distance to all of downtown Galena’s historical shops, restaurants and bars. Lauren stocks this home with many starters and lots of extras. Every guest from our group stated they would rent this home again to enjoy all that Galena has to offer. It should be mentioned that the upper bedroom with twin beds is a walk through to the master bedroom. And the downstairs bathroom is a beautiful clawfoot tub that offers a hand held sprayer for showering, however there is no curtain to actually stand and shower. The designated parking spot is down the street but an easy walk, we pulled up to the home to unload and load with our hazards on and had no issues.With that said, no one from our group was bothered by the mentions above; however if you have difficulties, limitations or are handicap this may not be the rental for you.We really enjoyed the large round table to play games, talk, eat breakfast and our night time snacks. The back porch was great for early morning coffee & watch it rain. Lauren also is an artist with some of her work for sale, two of us purchased some of her beautiful work.Thanks again Lauren for sharing your lovely home with us. We hope to return soon!

Perfect place for a getaway. Beautiful house so close to downtown.
For our second annual family lady’s trip to Galena we decided to stay at Lauren’s house. The house is beautiful and cozy with enough space to accommodate all seven of us and two babies. We were within walking distance of the downtown strip, I was shocked at how close we were. The house had a coffee pot, board games, and a tv we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Lauren was friendly, responsive, and left easy instructions and information for us. There was a cute back porch perfect for people watching and blowing bubbles. Parking was easy to find and being so close to everything none of us moved our cars the entire weekend because we didn’t have to. Everything about this place was great. I would 100% stay here again and I actually probably will.

This rental is perfectly placed to walk everywhere in Galena! It's even on the route of the ghost tour that we took! We had ample space for a group of four to sleep, and appreciated the second bathroom. The AC was useful during the summer heat. This home is thoughtfully furnished with the kitchen fully supplied, and even on site laundry which we did not use. The host provided coffee, fresh creamer, and even tomatoes from her garden. We had fun doing multiple puzzles on the dining room table. There were also games provided and of course TV. We were prepared to hunker down for the rain, but it never came. We enjoyed the trolley tour and walked to the Belvedere Mansion. We had wonderful meals at Cameche, Green Street Tavern, Fried Green Tomatoes, Emde's Cafe, and Vinny Vanucci's. Leah rocked the ghost tour. Would definitely stay here again!
