A five minute walk will have you in downtown Buena Vista. A two minute walk will put in in the McPhelemy Park and the Eddyline Brewery and Restaurant. The Park has playground equip. and a lake with a with a waterfall that is lit up at night. The local Lion's Club stocks the trout in the lake each season and is open to all to fish with no license needed. We hope a family member will be able to say "I caught my first fish in Buena Vista!" All of our kids and grandkids have enjoyed this. We have provided a few fishing poles, tackle box and worms can be bought at the local gas stations. Please leave equipment and clean bucket behind. Grandma doesn't like the fish to be cleaned in her sink, please do outside with hose and dispose of properly.

Near the Town Lake is the historic Train Depot and Caboose which will be open in the summer months. Continuing east across the highway will lead you into East Main Business District where you will find all kinds of gifts and antique shops, art galleries, Lobacks bakery (glazed donuts and longjohns, Grandpa's favorites), Heritage Museum (Grandma went to school there long ago) and numerous restaurants. Continue east and you will find a pedal park, tennis courts, softball field , and picnic area. Then the great reward, the majesty of the mighty Arkansas River with an arching footbridge over the water. Once you have crossed over please enjoy the Barbra Whipple Walking Trail and biking trails over Midland.

After you return back to Grandma's house, if you would like to go west (towards the mountains), drive approximately 3 miles and you will find the Comanche Movie Drive- In, (opened in 1966 by the Groy family). Take a blanket, a folding chair and a treat to eat and sit outside under the stars and watch a great movie. Grandpa says it doesn't get any better than that! If you travel straight past the drive-in approx. 2 miles you will find the Cottonwood Hot Springs Resort, natural hot springs that you can soak in. Straight past that approx. 2 miles is the turnoff for Cottonwood Lake. You will arrive after 3 miles to a beautiful peaceful serene mountain lake.

After you return to Grandma's House you might like to plan a trip to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs where you can soak in the river with hot water seeping from the ground or swim in the pool. The Jumpin Good Goat Dairy has free tours and samples, and you get to pet the goats. They are so cute! See the "Welcome Booklet". Grandma was born and raised here in the teeny tiny town of Buena Vista. Grandpa was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. They are the proud parents of Five children and Twenty grandchildren. You will see their pictures when you come to visit. Please don't forget Abby, our black Lab that travels with us wherever we go. One of our grandchildren always called her "Abby Dog". She likes that name too. She loves grandchildren, she thinks all children are her grandchildren just like Grandma does. We love to go up in the mountains, hike, fish, camp, ATV or snowmobile. We don't get to do that as often as we would like to since we spend much of our time in Utah taking care of Great Grandma and Great Grandpa. Can you believe that they are 90+ years young? We can't give you their exact age, because that just wouldn't be proper now, would it? We hope you enjoy your stay! We are looking forward to your pictures and or drawings of you doing something fun and having a great adventure at Grandma & Grandpa's House.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

We are centrally located just a few steps away from Main Street. We are two blocks away from McPhelemy Park, where you can fish at the Town Lake, (you do not need a fishing license) during the day. Who knows you might catch your first fish in Colorado right there. We do have fishing poles you can borrow. After dark the water fall is lit up and is pretty to see. The fall colors are incredible this year. During Gold Rush Days in August, numerous booths are set up in the park. There are numerous free concerts to attend during the summer. Don't forget the 4th of July Parade, its only a few steps away, bring a chair and sit in the shade and enjoy a great old fashion parade. You might even get sprayed from a fire truck. Don't forget to bring a grocery bag to collect all the candy and goodies that will be thrown your way.
