Come enjoy our second home, Nantahala Haven, on beautiful Lake Nantahala. Lake Nantahala is second highest lake east of the Mississippi River and is located within the Nantahala National Forest at 3,000 feet of elevation. Its waters are crystal clear with multiple waterfalls pouring into the lake along its 33+ miles of shoreline. It is surrounded by the Smokey Mountains and has sweeping mountain views. The vast majority of the shoreline is protected by the Nantahala National Forest and there are only approximately 100 lake front homes on Lake Nantahala.
Lake Nantahala is an approximately 2 hour drive from Atlanta, GA or Asheville, NC.
Lake Nantahala is one of the Souths best fishing lakes with Wallaye, Small and Largemouth Bass, Kokanee Salmon, Trout and other types of fish.
The Nantahala River is a 10 minute drive and has world class trout fishing and is a beautiful setting!
Due to its remote location, it is never crowded. There are no horsepower restrictions for boating and two local marinas have all types of boats for rent. A public boat ramp is less than 1 mile from the house.
Nantahala Haven is located within the gated neighborhood of Nantahala Shores. It is waterfront and one of the few houses in Nantahala Shores that is built close to the water to allow spectacular mountain and lake views during all seasons. There are steps with rails to get from parking to front entrance of the house.
Nantahala Haven is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home that has a King size bed in the master, with living room and kitchen overlooking the lake. Guest bedrooms and loft include queen and twin sized beds.
Nantahala Haven has a gentle slope to a private dock. Kayaks, floats and life vests are included. There is a gas grill, Solo fire pit and deck overlooking the water. Towels are provided as well for use on the water. DirecTV and WiFi are available.
In addition to the lake, other activities nearby include hiking (Appalachian and Bartram trails), mountain biking, whitewater rafting or trout fishing on the Nantahala River. We are located about 90 minutes from Cherokee, NC which is the gateway to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and also the home of the Cherokee Casino.
We purchased this home in 2018. It was previously listed on VRBO for 10 years and had a perfect 17/17 5* reviews. VRBO listings are non-transferable to new owners but we are confident that you will love your stay and would welcome you to experience our families favorite lake front getaway!!!
Bookings are Saturday - Saturday during June - August unless a different request is granted by owner. For other months, owners are happy to book for less than 7 days.
