The Sandy River Ski House is located in a quiet and peaceful older neighborhood in Brightwood/Welches, within the shadows of Mount Hood. The property is located with access to the Sandy River. Many places to sit and relax among the beautiful tall fir trees on the property.
You can hear the rushing river 200' from the house, only a short walk to the waters edge, easy to just sit and enjoy the river. This is a NO SMOKING property.


Summer hiking: Very easy driving to many excellent hiking trails surrounding Mount Hood.

Travel to Ski Bowl for summer fun on the Alpine Slide and other summer attractions.

Easy driving to all 5 Mount Hood Ski areas (Timberline, Ski Bowl, Mount Hood Meadows, Summit, Cooper Spur)

3 & 4 night minimum stays for Holiday Weekends, We welcome your pets, $40 fee per pet for your stay.
Only registered guests are allowed in the house or on the property.

This was a lovely home with every comfort including a fully equipped kitchen, a library, games galore, a hot tub, fireplace and an enchanting garden with a little path to a fast moving stream. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden outside and also felt at home inside, reading, talking and dining together. This home creates an inviting atmosphere for an excellent, memorable stay.

We really enjoyed our stay! The space was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. One of our favorite features was the hot tub—it was the perfect way to unwind. The property has a beautiful, park-like setting that feels peaceful and private, and we especially loved the short hike down to the river. It was a great place to disconnect and enjoy nature. We would definitely stay here again!

Neat getaway in the woods by the river. Wood stove and fireplace made it cozy for my family. The hot tub was a popular place for the kids to relax in the evenings.

The house in immaculate condition. Everything was clean and in Great condition! The hot tub was one of the cleanest I’ve seen.I really appreciated the large collection of books and DVD’s the host had and that there is a TV and dvd player in every room!

e Always love coming here. The house and yard are always super clean. It's great to be able to bring our dog with us. The hot tub is perfect right off the master bedroom. Warm down comforters on all beds. Firewood for a cozy fire. Quiet location with easy access to the mountain. David is a great helpful host.

Sweet Mountain Cabin

We had a wonderful time, and the cabin is very clean and inviting. The short walk to the river and proximity to great hikes make for an ideal location.

Wonderful cabin!

Plenty of room both indoors and out for our family of 5 plus two four legged friends. Lots of living space, a well stocked kitchen and a short walk down to a gorgeous river. Host was friendly and readily available to ensure a smooth visit. This cabin was a perfect home base for adventures on Mt. Hood!

Ski Week was Perfect

We stayed for a week and had a lovely time. Hotub was great after skiing and was cleaned and serviced while we were there. Beautiful trail to the river. Just overall an excellent spot.

Lots of Room, Clean, comfortable and great location

The Sandy River Ski House is a great place to stay while exploring the Mt. Hood area. The place is large, very comfortable beds, a good hot tub, kitchen is good and the outside area is very nice. The house is very close to restaurants, groceries, and many really good hikes. I would recommend this place and would stay again when in the area.

This cozy cabin in the woods is spacious, quiet has many places to walk to including the Sandy River.It is a short walk to a secluded cove. We had the best time and David is the best host! He made sure we had everything we needed and then some. We loved this stay and we will miss it.

nice cabin

We stayed 3 days for a ski outing with 5 adults, 1 toddler and 1 dog. The lodging is roomy and comfortable. it's not fancy, but in a great location.

Amazing place

Every detail was thought out. Very comfy beds. Fireplaces are a plus as well as the hot tub. Detailed instructions made it so easy to check in and out. Highly recommend this place !

A beautiful place to stay near the Sandy river

The house was quite nice, clean, and the owner was very helpful while not being obtrusive during our stay. Wood for the fireplace and stove was in abundance and a nice surprise relative to other places we have stayed. Thank you for having us and our dogs at your beautiful property.

Relaxing Getaway

We enjoyed a relaxing holiday getaway at the Sandy River Ski House. Just a short drive from the Portland metro area but a world away in terms of peace and quiet: just the sound of the wind in the trees and the gentle waters of the nearby Sandy River. The house is equipped with all the amenities you may need and is easy to find off the main highway. Overall, a great place to unwind, unplug, and connect with nature

Perfect for a Family Getaway

Loved this house! Spacious and well stocked kitchen for all our needs. Lovely surroundings. Hot tub was a real hit. Lots of space for entire family and privacy in 3 bedrooms. We will definitely be back!!

Very comfortable and clean

The house was very large, comfortable and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with everything a family needs. The location is perfect for visiting the mout hood area. Very recommended!

Wonderful Christmas

The beautiful home hosted six of us for a family get together. It was spacious and welcoming with great views and entertainment nearby. We all had a wonderful time.

We love to ski, raft, hike, backpack, swim etc.. Friends love to join us at the Sandy River Ski House for fun, relaxation, sitting around the fireplace and in the kitchen making yummy meals.

It is next to the river (200') with easy access to all the fun stuff to do on Mount Hood. Just a short 50 minute ride from Portland and we can be sitting on the porch sipping tea and listening to the sounds of the river through the large fir trees.
