This custom mining themed upscale cabin is nestled in the pine trees in the highly sought after Powder House Pass area outside of Deadwood/Lead. Being in the heart of the recreational corridor in the Northern Black Hills, you'll love the proximity to the local Mickelson Trail and snowmobile Trail #5 for your winter and summer adventures! Terry Peak is just a short 10 minute drive up the hill and you can actually catch a glimpse of the Eastern side of the mountain from the property! You can also enjoy the rim-rock canyon walls of Spearfish Canyon for a day of hiking, fly fishing and a summer cruise in as little as 5 minutes. ATV, snowmobile, hike, or bike straight from the cabin without having to worry about finding a trailhead, or stroll through the neighborhood and enjoy the old mining claims. With frequent wildlife, and incredible starry skies, the location couldn't be better. Keystone, Mount Rushmore, Hill City, and Custer State Park can all be accessed within under an hour's drive as well! Whether you're visiting the Black Hills for a relaxing getaway, a sight-seeing trip or an adventure-filled vacation, Iron Wheel Lodge is sure to make your trip delightful.

Once you've finished with your adventure filled days, coming home to your very own getaway cabin will be the icing on the cake. The design and upscale furnishings have been selected for comfort and relaxation. There's over 2100 sq. ft. of living space and 3 bedrooms complete with a king bed, queen bed, and two twin beds. The open living/kitchen area is perfect for gathering while the wood flooring and rock fireplace set the cabin mood. There's a 3 car garage for your vehicles and motorcycles, and a wrap around covered patio to enjoy the outdoors. You'll also be one of the closest cabins to the Powder House Pass clubhouse, so a short walk and you can enjoy a heated pool, gas fire-pit, pool table, shuffleboard, a gathering place and more! Great location...but owner's need to listen to reviews

This home was located in great neighborhood, quiet, walkable, and easy access to activities and adventures. However, at this price point you would hope the owners would consider the reviews left by previous renters. I usually don't leave bad reviews. I haven't had to. But in all honesty, I have to say it was rather disappointing to crawl into bed after traveling for 12+ hours only to have the bottom fitted sheet not be "fitted". It was so old the elastic wasn't holding it onto the mattress. The bed in the master bedroom is EXTREMELY loud if you barely move in the bed. The bath towels felt like sandpaper. I have a hard time believing the owners would EVER treat their own guests like this. The kitchen is sparsely equipped. Some of the pots should really just be thrown out they are so scratched up. There were dead mice out by the hot tub. It is clear they are not looking for repeat renters. Just overall disappointing.

Amazing place to spend time with family

Nice to have a main site on the first floor for our parents to use without having to climb stairs. Also liked having another suite upstairs. The child’s playroom upstairs also served as a private “bedroom” for 2 of our guests.

Weekend getaway!

Absolutely loved staying here… it was for all of us to have such a beautiful place to stay for a girls weekend! Not to far from deadwood which made it even better. We were able to check in an hour early which made things go much smoother. The best part was sitting in the living room, next to the fire with our coffee and the big windows watching the snow come down. Will definitely book again!

A really nice house....with a few exceptions

The house itself is nice and set up perfect for 2 couples with 2 master bedroom suites. It's very clean and having use of the 3-car garage is a plus. As some have noted the exterior picture was taken before the neighborhood was built up, and there is little to no privacy outside. The surrounding houses appear to be short term rentals, and while we were there the houses were rented but it was very quiet at night. As others have noted, the downstairs bedroom really needs a new mattress. The upstairs bedroom is very dark, with only a dim ceiling light. We enjoyed our stay, the location to surrounding attractions is good, and I'd consider staying there again if in the area.

Overall

Overall it was a pleasant place. When we booked in February the pictures were a little misleading in regards to neighbors and privacy. The ariel view photos of the house showed no neighbors, when we arrived there were neighbors less than 50 feet away. Lots of new construction. We were expecting more seclusion. The hand soap and dish soap were extremely watered down. We ran out of grabage bags and had to had the cleaning lady who was cleaning the next door house for some extras. A grocery bag was left by some previous tennents (thought it was full of other grocery sacks) but upon further inspection it had used packages of trail meals that you add hot water too that left behind maggots. Management was alerted but didnt believe me they were actually maggots. I quickly cleaned up the mess. The can opener was broken and my hubby had to fix it so we could use it. He also had to fix the door going into the garage due to the handle falling off everytime you opened the door. Ice machine in fridge doesnt work. Takes a while for the water to get hot for showers and dishes but its an on demand hot water heater so all 7 seven of us could shower one right after the other and never run out of hot water. With the neighbors being so close a privacy fence between the 2 would be a great touch for enjoying the patio and hot tub. Overall great place to stay just needs a few small tweaks. Kids loved the pools at the community building. LOTS of construction going on all around.

Easy fixes

Great house & area- There were several irritating issues that would be easy,considerate fixes…We had to figure out the correct password for the internet,not enough mugs, no bowels, need new matching fluffy towels, starter shower soap,correct cone coffee filters, could not open front door,horrible lighting in bedrooms & baths,no tv in primary br…All simple to add for a more comfy stay! We will look for a different house in the neighborhood next year because of all these little things. We did enjoy our stay in spite of the issues!
