Jewel of Uzès -Historical Center -Wonderful Views
Welcome to the Jewel (le bijou) of in Uzès located in the historical city center. We have a large living / dining / kitchen area, 2 bedrooms , a sofa bed (5 beds total), bathroom, shower room, 2 WCs, and a terrace. AMAZING views from our terrace and windows. Top floor of the building 4th floor (3me étage) =no overhead noise. Restaurants, shops and attractions are within walking distance. Enjoy hiking, bicycling, kayaking, and so much more in Uzès & in the surrounding region.
Built during the 12th century, the building is one of the oldest in the city, and has been given a historical classification by the city of Uzès. The neighborhood used to be home to the nobility, clergy members, and nuns. From our terrace (facing the building), you can see remnants of the original roof embedded in the wall. While it's in a historical building, there are many modern comforts and features to make you feel at home in our apartment. We have fixed electric heating (+ one portable heater) & 3 portable air conditioning units. Iron, ironing board, washing machine, drying rack, extra blankets, winter duvets, flameless candles, fans, blow dryer, toaster, DVD / video player & TV, linens, towels, soap / shower gel, tea & coffee, microwave, stove top, and coffee machine are provided. Free WIFI is available in the main living area, and in the main bedroom. As there are no shared spaces with the owner, the entire apartment and terrace will be your private paradise. PARKING: The highly desirable historical center is primarily a pedestrian zone where one can walk everywhere. The city of Uzès provides several public parking locations around the center. You will find a parking map with walking distances to our flat in our photo gallery. Q-Park Gide is our favorite, as it is enclosed and has security cameras. It also offers reasonable daily, weekly, and monthly rates when you pay online. For more information, look for Q-Park Gide online. Q-Park Marronniers & Parking du Duché are also very close to our flat.
We think Uzès is one of the most charming towns in France. We enjoy the open markets, restaurants, shops & festivals in Uzès as well as the municipal pool and hikes to the valley. One of our favorite activities is Kayaking, starting from the nearby city of, Collias, and then down the Gardon river and under the Roman aqueduct, the Pont du Gard. We have also enjoyed going horseback riding in the area as well as walking to the nearby Haribo museum and candy store. Le Duché d'Uzès, called the First Duchy of France, is a castle that is a short walk from our flat & can be seen from our upstairs bedroom. The cathedral & Roman Fenestrelle Tower that can be seen from our windows and terrace is only a few steps away. One can also walk to numerous shops, cafes, and to the Place aux Herbes (town square), which has a large fountain, restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops and hosts two weekly open markets (farmer's market on Wednesday & giant "everything" market on Saturdays). The public pool, Valley d'Eure, and flea market (on Sundays) are also within walking distance. The Roman aqueduct, Pont du Gard, is a 20 minute drive. Kayaking, canoeing & horseback riding services are also about 20 minutes by car. Uzès is like the center of a bicycle wheel with spokes leading to many “day trip” surrounding cities and scenic destinations such Avignon, Nimes, Arles, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (for wine tasting), Montpelier (beach) and the Camargue region just to name a few. There is a very efficient Tourist Information Center with helpful staff and brochures to advise you about the local & surrounding areas / attractions. It is located in Uzès on 16 Place Albert 1er. Our welcoming concierge, Annie, will arrange to meet you to give you / collect the keys to our flat. Please keep in mind that there is no elevator to our 4th floor (3me étage) apartment before you make a reservation. WELCOME - BIENVENUE!
