Waterfront cottage nestled in a quiet, secluded bay on beautiful Oneida Lake. This cozy, well stocked space is best for a couple, or a family of 3 or 4 with small children. Enjoy swimming, fishing, and water sports from a 100-foot aluminum dock. Guests can bring one boat to the rental. A small boat can be tied to the dock (approximately 2-foot water depth), or to a mooring further out (approximately 4-foot water depth). There is parking available for two vehicles and one small boat trailer. On-site kayak, canoe, and small boat launch.

Experience the outdoors by cooking on an outdoor propane Blackstone 36" flat top griddle, dining on the lakeside deck with a four person dining table/umbrella, and enjoy breathtaking sunsets in the lounge chairs with shade umbrella. Portable fish fillet table available.

The cottage has 2 bedrooms. One has a queen bed. The other has twin bunks and a sit/stand desk for remote, lake view working. Quality linens are provided. The kitchen is well stocked for those who like to cook, with counter seating for three. Keurig. Blender. Crock-pot. Newer luxury vinyl and porcelain tile flooring throughout, county water, propane heater, electric kitchen stove, oven, refrigerator/freezer, 1 small bathroom, single shower, living room smart TV for your apps, Wi-Fi.

WOODEN GAZEBO/DECK:
The wooden, enclosed, lakeside gazebo on the adjacent property is not shared with neighbors. It is available for cottage guests to enjoy. This quaint little building, with wrap-around lake views, has a queen sleeper futon sofa inside, and lounge chairs outside to relax and unwind.

PARKING:
Maximum of two cars in the driveway, and one small boat trailer on the adjacent lawn.

The cardinal cottage was a perfect get away for my wife and I, the area is nice and quiet and the cottage it is everything you could ask for. Will absolutely be returning to Onieda in the future.

Another enjoyable visit

We had a great stay for a second time. The host was very responsive and checked on us. The cottage is small but well appointed for our stay with two small kiddos. We enjoyed coffee/hot tea on the decks, cooking breakfast on the Blackstone grill and taking the pedal boat to the nearby park and playground.

stay was very enjoyable. Rainy and windy most of the time, so we were inside mostly, We still enjoyed our stay as cottage was so pleasant. My husband enjoyed so much he said he could live there year round.

Very good cottage!

We enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is clean and all the property is under a good care. Especially, we (and our youngsters) liked the gazebo, well equipped for the rest and pleasantness.

Much needed relaxation

Picturesque little cottage located with a water front view. Much need break from work spent every morning enjoying a coffee while looking out at the water. It is off the beaten path but still close enough to explore all the sides of the lake. Loved our stay and the host always responded quickly to any questions we had. 10/10 would recommend.

Relaxing and charming

Awesome updated cottage! I am a clean freak and this place was spotless. Everything was intentionally placed… from a wardrobe closet in the master to a hook to put your towel outside the shower. Basket of snacks, soap, little makeup removal wipes, k-cups for the Keriug etc. The lake view was gorgeous. There is plenty of space on the deck, by the fire pit, right on the edge of the lake the other little dwelling with mini deck. The inside of the cottage itself is small, but perfect for our family of 3. Shower and bathroom are a bit of a tight squeeze but manageable….that’s the only thing that I can even critique. We loved it and highly recommend.

Very restful place to decompress and relax

We enjoyed getting away from the noise and bustle of city life to a peaceful, quiet area along Lake Oneida. What we loved about the place: 1) Cleaned immaculately. 2) stable wi-fi. 3) fully stocked kitchen. 4) wonderful deck to hang out on and eat. 5) quiet outside surroundings filled with rabbits, geese, chipmunks, and ducks. 6) very attentive owner who made communicated clearly and quickly. 7) Lots of things to do relatively close by and pretty good restaurant. A few things we found no so great: 1) There is no dining room table but only a table on the deck outside. When it was hot or raining, we had to make do eating on TV trays. 2) The doors to the bedrooms do not fully close which might be a privacy issue for those with kids or another couple staying there. 3) The gas grill was inoperable due to a leaky hose. We had to cook our steaks in a pan in the kitchen (which set off the fire alarms). 4) I know it cannot be helped by there are insects everywhere outside and sometimes in the cabin: spiders, gnats, and mosquitos. This is part of lake life, but it was extreme on days after it rained. Overall, we were very glad we came here. It was just what we needed to unwind and spend time together without a lot of people or commotion. Thank you, Traci!

Gret Work-cation Stay!

Had a nice stay at this cozy cottage. Our biggest concern was the bathroom as there were no pictures of it on VRBO. However, no issue as the bathroom was in line with the rest of the cottage (i.e. not the Ritz, but we were not expecting the Ritz). Upon arrival, we were met by the owner's wife who could not have been more gracious over our stay. For example, she allowed use of their paddleboat & single-person kayak. She also provided a fishing rod. There were also rafts and a small umbrella available. The front deck of the cottage has a full picnic table with an umbrella which is not pictured. Also not pictured are 4 (plastic) Adirondack chairs by the fire ring (for which wood was available during our stay). We moved 2 chairs to the end of the dock for happy hour several nights. While mosquitoes were an issue after sunset, prior to sunset, we did not have any issue. Of course, at a lake they were expected. And, you always have to gazebo, complete with a small cable TV, to avail you of them. As we were on a "workcation", wifi was vital to us. We did have a glitch on the first day with spotty wifi which was quickly resolved with the owner providing a "Orbi" for better reception (wifi provided is via the owner's home behind the cottage). Once rectified, we only had one other issue our entire stay. The wifi works from the gazebo as well. The main bedroom has been painted blue and is not the spotty yellow shown in the current picture. The 2nd bedroom's "L" configuration is tight with 2 twin beds. We used it for storage, so it was not an issue. Both the main bedroom & living area have window A/C units with remotes that worked well. The listing states coin laundry, but there is no laundry facilities on site. You would have to drive to town for a Laundromat. The kitchen is stocked with all the necessary utensils. The only things that we brought that were necessary were wine glasses and a cookie sheet for making a pizza. Speaking of wine, the Grace Tyler winery is only a mile away and they have live music on Fri evenings. Is there a mothball smell as others reported? Yes, at the start, but quite honestly you get used to it (or at least we did) and it sort of adds to the character (note: the owner did tell us that she used to use mothballs over the winter prior to the cottage's recent insulation to prevent mice from entering). Bottom line, this place offers such an exceptional value we are contemplating a fall foliage return.

End of summer at Cardinal Cottage - 2nd time

This was our second year at this beautiful cottage on the lake. We had an awesome time again! We love relaxing by the lake and hopefully can do it again next year.

Vaca on the lake

We had a blast at this cozy cottage on such a beautiful lake! We enjoyed the great sunsets and had fun visiting the suggested attractions. The host,Traci, was super responsive and attentive. Would definitely come back! I can only imagine how pretty the fall foliage will be in autumn!

Our stay was very nice. House was very clean. Our real only complaint was the Wi-Fi was in an out the whole time. Otherwise it was a very nice place. I thought it might’ve been a little tight for the four of us but it was perfect. We would revisit this place again.

Best in every way

You simply can't go wrong with this booking! My family stayed there, and my children (ages 7 & 11) never even wanted to leave the property. They especially loved the peddleboat which we didn't even know was there till we booked. It's a clean, quaint house on a quiet lake spot. The host goes out of her way to make you feel at home. She left a snack basket with things that everyone in my family loved and even checks in via messaging throughout your stay to make sure all is well. The neighbors are also very nice, with two sweet dogs.

Fall getaway for our Anniversary

Online pictures were accurate but didn't really convey the comfort & hominess of Cardinal Cottage. Traci thought of everything you might need when being away from home--the kitchen was stocked with pots, pans & utensils, making cooking easy & there was shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap in the shower. There was even a welcome basket of snacks--which was delicious and appreciated! Everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We had one very windy & rainy day but it was so nice to be inside the cottage just watching it through all of the living room windows. Great views, since you are directly on the lake and we enjoyed cider and board games on the deck and wine on the dock. Communication with Traci was easy and she was quick to respond. Checking in & out was a breeze. We agreed with other reviewers who mentioned the hot water issue but since it was mentioned, we were prepared for it. And the comfort of the cottage, for us, far outweighed any minor inconvenience that staggering showers may have caused. Cardinal Cottage is definitely someplace we would like to visit again--so beautiful in the fall but we think a summer visit might also be fun!

Most quiet serene vacation I’ve ever had!

I wanted a quiet house right on the water for vacation and this place delivered by a load! The pictures don’t even come close to doing this property justice. Fully equipped with everything we could possibly need for our stay, even snacks! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here even with rain everyday. We would absolutely do it again!
