Nestled in the heart of the Manistee National Forest is the quaint little town of Brethren, Michigan. With a population of just over 1000 people, it is quite possibly one of the best kept secrets in the state. On the other side of the Manistee River is the humble town of Wellston, Michigan. With a slightly larger population, this area overflows with charm. Natural beauty abounds in these towns. They offer abundant activities for every season.

Northwoods Lodging offers you a “home away from home” experience. Our cabins are fully furnished and cozy. We provide you with not only a place to lay your head, but a place to make life long memories. You will find everything you need in our cabins, aside from your personal care items, to make you feel right at home.

We now have Wi-Fi!!

Please leave beds that are used unmade on day of departure. If a bed is not being used please do not disturb or let children play on them. ONLY the number of people listed on VRBO contract may be at the house. Absolutely NO parties with outside people gathering.

Perfect fishing getaway

The host was great and communicated very well. The property was clean and had ample room for all of us on our fishing trip. Can’t wait to come back!

Perfect location for a great fishing getaway

We stayed at the house for 4 days for a long weekend fishing trip. The property was perfect for all our needs. The host was very friendly and helpful all the way through our stay. We will be booking again next year. Thank you

Very clean, comfy couches. Great location for adventuring and a short walk to Traks for a drink and some food. Only suggestion would be to have a place for hanging waders outside, and I never figured out how to turn the bathroom fan on? I’d gladly rent here again

Peaceful location

We had a great stay in this property. After all the daytime activities it’s nice to chill and relax inside the house in the cozy living area and watch a movie. The linens and towels were smelling fresh! The whole house is clean and spacious.

Tracy the owner is a great person excellent communication The cabin was great didnt want to leave very nice clean and comfortable. Will be back for sure And again thank you to the owners

Very clean & spacious

This property is very clean & spacious. Plenty of extra pillows & blankets. Bed was comfortable. My only complaint was livingroom furniture was not very comfortable but for the price not a big deal. Property owners are easy to work with. We would definitely book again.

Nice Little Up North Getaway

The property is exactly like show in the pictures and description. It is a clean, cozy and affordable place. Nothing fancy, but that's not what we were looking for. The yard was pretty much all sand and dirt (looks like work was going on) so make sure to check on that if it that would be a concern to you.

We rented this house for 2 nights in June. It was very well maintained and clean. We didn't try out the air conditioning (two windows units) but all the windows open easily and have screens. The fire pit was convenient for smores and hot dogs. Some road noise from Tracks bar and grill but it didn't bother us or wake us up. Plenty to do in the area...hiking, fishing, kayaking, Twisted Trails off road park. We were looking at hotels nearby and it was more expensive than this rental house. It has a large kitchen table that seats 6. Even larger living room with comfy couches. We used the wifi, tv, microwave, toaster, fridge and coffee maker. All those appliances in good condition and worked well for us. Plenty of towels and kitchen utensils. If I had any criticism it would be that the shower needs an upgrade, but it worked well for us! If we are ever back in the area we would stay again.

Overall this was a decent place to stay, but there were some insects issues in spite of the bug repellents plug-ins and the bathroom door did not close/latch. I’d also say that the wi-fi connection wasn’t good (to be expected in the middle of nowhere but good to mention if you plan to take a work laptop like my husband did). Otherwise lots of sleeping options.

Pleasantly Surprised!

We came to the area to do some fishing and were pleasantly surprised with the spacious room it had and it was very clean. We made some last minute changes and the property manager was fantastic to work with and talk to, she went out of her way to make sure things were all good for us. We will definitely stay there again!

Nice Cabin

Good and Clean. If you are planning a fishing, hunting, snowmobile, ATV trip to the area its a great place to stay for a base camp. Plenty of parking. Everything was extremely clean and plenty of room. We will be staying again.

Perfect location to stay with friends before our canoe trip.

Very comfortable home for a group of friends. Short walk to a store and bar / restaurant. Just 20 minutes to launch canoes on the Pine River.

Great place out in the country!

Had a great couple nights here while playing golf at Arcadia. The cabin had plenty of space and beds were comfortable. A bar and grill was within a short walk. I highly recommend.

Wonderful time

Me and my family were positively surprised by the cottage. It was very readable and comprehensive and very clean . Mrs. Tracy is a wonderful person. She helped us with everything and even recommended places worth seeing. We are very happy that we could spend our family time in such a nice place. We will definitely come back again to create more family memories. Thank you, Mrs. Tracy, once again for making it possible for us to spend the weekend in your cottage .
