Tiny Cottage at Goat House Farm
Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 nonprofit educational farm. All profits go toward supporting the mission of the farm, specifically our youth programming.
Come and de-stress by snuggling our goats. These bouncing bundles of joy are guaranteed to make you smile! We also have chickens, peacocks, and a pig. We are near Tallahassee but in a rural area, down a bumpy dirt road, but we promise the trip is worth it. Kayaking and hiking right off the property, plus beautiful sunsets on the lake.
Make yourself at home in our unique tiny cottage with kitchenette, private bath with shower, and heat/AC. Luxury queen size bed. We also have a queen tatami mattress for extra guests.
Kitchenette is stocked with standard cooking supplies and fruit is available in season. You can also pre-order fresh biscuits and honey butter for breakfast. TV, toaster oven, french press, and refrigerator are in the unit, along with kitchen essentials. There is a microwave in the common area. We also have a small outdoor kitchen area with grill, stove, utensils, basic cooking supplies (oil, salt, pepper, condiments),and fire pit
Note, there are no windows in the cottage. It was built originally as a storm shelter! You will sleep really well with the thick walls and no city lights! The private entryway does have windows that let some light into the room.
Wifi, laundry, and smart/cable TV.
Private and group goat yoga classes may be available during your stay, just ask us ahead of time!
*****Unless you re a return guest, you must arrive before 7pm.*******
Remember, there is an hour time difference if coming from the west. Late arrivals interfere with our milking routine and we cannot stop milking to show you around. Farm folks also hit the hay pretty early! Please do not book and then tell us you will be arriving late. Thank you.
Feel free to message if you have questions! The herd looks forward to meeting you!!

Visiting the Farm
Our daily schedule revolves around your arrival. Please let us know when you have an ETA so we can be sure someone is here to greet you.
1. NUMBER ONE: Be respectful to the animals. They are always a priority here. Use caution around the goats. While they are friendly and we’ve never had a problem, they are horned and can be dangerous. Any abuse toward the animals, physical or verbal, will terminate your stay immediately.
2. Children are not allowed in the pasture or chicken coops without adult supervision.
3. Please use chemical products minimally. We are an organic farm and what you use eventually goes into the soil and the lake.
4. Keep all trash in a closed container. The wild critters will find it and make a mess. All recycling, with the exception of styrofoam should go in the green recycling can. Please do recycle. The well water is double filtered and perfectly safe to drink, so bottled water isn't necessary.
5. Do not litter on the farm, in fact if you happen to find any garbage please help us out and pick it up so the animals don’t eat it! Please dispose of all your trash in the correct bins when you checkout.
6. The refrigerator in the common room is a community fridge for campers and workcampers. Feel free to leave your food there when you check out and not in the cottage fridge.
7. The gates to the pasture should ALWAYS be latched and looped. If one goat sees it open, he or she will call everyone else and they will make for the woods!
8. We strive for an environmentally sustainable lifestyle. Try to keep electric consumption in mind, and turn off anything not in use. Turn all lights and AC off when you check out.
9. Do not feed any of the animals meat products, chocolate, raw beans, avocado seeds, or anything you wouldn't eat yourself (moldy bread, spoiled food, etc). Do not feed them around the pig. He gets food aggressive.
10. Campfires must never be left unattended.
11. DO NOT speed down the driveway. Sometimes kids get out and often chickens are hanging out along the way.
12. Dogs are not allowed in the pasture. NO EXCEPTIONS. EVER. Dogs must be dog friendly. We have a livestock guardian that roams the property and loves other dogs. Please clean up after your dogs.
13. No smoking in barn, coops, manger, nursery, pasture, cottage, or in our tents.
14. If you have any issues at all, please let us know and we will make it right. Negative reviews are particularly difficult for hosts to recover from! We pride ourselves on offering a unique and comfortable camping experience and want you to be happy!
15. All tips go to our volunteer workcampers!
Upon check out please take out trash and turn off all lights, ac, or heat. That is all. No chore list!

Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: Melissa Hughes

Goat House Farm is a Farmher operated 501(c)(3) micro dairy in a rural area of Tallahassee on the beautiful Lake Talquin. The farm has its humble beginnings in the summer of 05 with four acres, four goats, and four chickens. Founded on the love of animals and a passion for sustainability, we remain committed to compassionate practices and the most natural care of our land and animals as possible.
Por qué eligió esta propiedad
As stewards of the land and herd, we believe we have a responsibility to share nature's blessings. We offer several agritourism opportunities on the farm, from farmstays to day visits. It is our goal to create a space where our visitors can have fun and learn about the animals who share that space. We also strive to serve as a valuable resource for first time goat owners. To support that endeavor, we sell chicken eggs, specialty cottage goods, honey, and natural goat milk products. We also sell raw goat milk (for pet consumption only, as per Florida law).
We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our programming and partners. We welcome all races, abilities, ethnicities, backgrounds, orientations & identities.
We are located at the end of a bumpy 3/4 mile dirt road off Highway 20/Blountstown Hwy on the lake. Part of the road is paved, but most is dirt and we are prone to flooding after more than a couple of days of hard rain. We have several cars in the neighborhood that don't have a problem on the road, but - full disclosure! If bumpy dirt roads bother you, our road in is not for you. We - and most of our guests - think it is worth it.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad
We are so fortunate to share our land and space with such a sociable and loving herd of goats who just thrive on human interaction. We are also nestled in the Lake Talquin State Forest just yards away from the 10,000 acre Lake Talquin and minutes from Apalachicola National Forest and Tate's Hell State Forest. We are about 45 minutes away from Florida's sugar sand beaches.
