New pool! Steps from the beach. Nicely appointed 3 bed 2 bath kid and pet friendly home on popular West side of St. George Island. Well stocked beautiful open kitchen and living area.
Fantastic large fenced play area for kids and pets. Multiple outdoor living spaces including a firepit for campfire fun.
Easy walk to the beach or just relax and enjoy the gulf views from the covered deck. Barefeet Retreat is also a perfect location for a day of bayside fun with bay access only 2 blocks away.
Kick back and relax at Barefeet retreat where kids and our furry friends are always welcome. Pet crate and pack n play included. High chair available upon request. Pool heater available upon request for an additional $250 fee.

We’re going to stay here again

5 stars Susan’s house is wonderful. Super clean and comfortable. More than enough kitchen and household supplies. The house is also well set up for youngsters and pets if needed. We didn’t use the pool but it is larger than most others we saw. Short walk to beach in quiet area of the island. We’ll definitely book here again.

Wonderful place to stay

Stayed here before and we love it! It has everything you need! Clean well stocked kitchen and just perfect! Our dogs love. Have friends and family at St. George so when there is a lot of us we book this place! It’s perfect

Great family getaway!

Host was so thoughtful! She cared as much for our furry friends as she did the people. I love to cook, and usually need to bring specific utensils to do so at rental houses. Not this time! She has everything. Everyone had a great time! Thank you Susan

Great stay, any issues we had were promptly attended to. Pool is much larger in person than in the pictures!! We will be back.

I’ll add to the 5 star reviews…

This is a great, well-appointed house. They’ve thought of everything and considered the needs of everyone who might be a guest. We originally intended to bring our dog, but decided against it. Rest assured, the house is cleaned and maintained in such a way that you would never know dogs have been guests. The pool is large, and the house is mere steps from the very nice, uncrowded beach. Highly recommended!

This was our first time staying outside the Plantation on SGI. It was amazing! The house is perfect. Five Stars for sure.

St. George

Great clean house. Just a short walk around the block to public beach access. The house is perfect for kids with the fenced in playground and pool area. Our family enjoyed it.

Functional family beach house!

We loved our stay at Barefeet Retreat! As a family with an 8 month old and a 3 year old we greatly appreciated the helpful details of this home- a pack n play, a foldable crib with mattress and waterproof cover, folding rocking chair, high chair, baby and toddler Utensils, beach/sand toys. Also the safety features of the gates on the covered porch and stairs, pool gate, and gated playground area were a plus. We loved the heated outdoor shower. The house was also great for furry friends. Extra dog bowls, dog beds, a crate were all provided. There was everything needed to cook. Loved the blender for smoothies. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows. They even had some tools we used to fix the mirror of our golf cart. The pool was amazing. Beach chairs, umbrellas were provided. Overall the most functional and best vacation rental we’ve ever had!

Exactly as described and pictured. A beautiful home, very close to the beach - easy enough for me and my husband to pull our toddlers in the wagon to the beach! Truly well thought out, there was no necessity missing. Host was very responsive to questions before the trip. Could not have asked for a better experience! Highly recommend!

Great getaway!

Beautiful property! Very clean. They had it stocked with everything you can think of. The pool was wonderful. It was still chilly outside so the extra cost for the pool to be heated was well worth it! We will definitely stay here again!

Lovely stay

The property was exactly what we needed with space for our two young adult sons, our dog, and ourselves. Communication was good and the owner gave us the information we needed about the house and the area. The pool was lovely and even allowed for some laps. The fenced area and gates on the stairs and balcony were perfect for our furry family member. The house was not right on the beach although it was physically closer to it than some houses we have stayed in with a beach view. There were 2 houses between us and the view, but the beach was within easy walking distance via side streets and we even saw some dolphins and pelicans from the piece of ocean we could see on the balcony. The balcony had a lovely breeze and comfortable chairs along with a table for dining. The fire-pit was fun and we were able to admire the stars while roasting marshmallows. The outdoor shower was convenient for sand and the downstairs area with the grill and table would be a nice area to hang out in warmer months. Parking was easy, the lot was open to other houses surrounding it but shielded from the street. Landscaping was nice with oleanders in bloom and beach oaks. Tips: Bikes were easy to rent and town was 1.5 miles with a sidewalk. The beach was not crowded and we had some nice walks beach combing at low tide. Apalachicola is about 30 min. away for shopping and touring. Food on the island is expensive and so/so quality, stocked kitchen was nice to have. No-see-ums were biting, bring bug spray.

Beach Stay

This property was perfect for our family. It was clean, cute and a short walk to the beach. The pool was great. We decided to pay the extra to heat it and we’re glad we did. It was a cool, windy week. We’ve already decided to book here again next year!

Lovely stay

We enjoyed every bit of SGI and the Barefoot Retreat during our weeklong stay. The house was perfect for our small family and yellow lab. It was wonderfully clean and truly had everything we needed. We loved the pool, deck, short walk to the beach and playing cornhole under the house. The home and island were dog friendly. We want to compliment the layout of the home and yard. The gates and the way the deck connected to the stairs and fenced area was perfect for our dog and would be ideal for small children too! Not to mention, you can see and hear the ocean and gaze at all of the stars! We will be back!

Relaxing Retreat!

We had a wonderful time at the Barefoot Retreat! The home was very clean and beautifully decorated. We loved the proximity to the beach, the pool, dog area, fire pit and lovely porch. We paid for the pool heat and it was perfect even with evening temps in the 60s. Kenny and Susan were responsive and helpful in every way. It was a wonderful week of relaxation with our kids and dogs!

Blew our expectations out of the water!

This was our first visit to SGI. We traveled with 2 couples, a 2 and 6 year old and 2 dogs. The home was exactly as pictured/described. The walk to the beach was a quick 5 mins. VERY dog friendly. 1.5 mile walk to the lighthouse. We had plenty of room for living, cooking, playing. The kitchen was well stocked. The fenced in area was perfect for containing the dogs and the kids. We paid extra to heat the pool and were glad we did. The weather was mid 60’s and windy most of the time. We still had plenty of beach time but when it got too chilly, the pool was nice. It was WARM from day 1. Another review mentioned it didn’t get warm enough in time, we did not have that problem. It was like bath water. We used the fire pit and enjoyed the downstairs seating, swing and grill area. The grill is like one you’d see at a park, so not huge if you have a lot of grilling to do. Plenty of beach chairs and beach umbrellas. Towels in the home were pretty limited, so plan to do laundry while you’re there. Extra paper towel, tp, laundry pods, dish pods, dish soap, trash bags were all provided. Beds were super comfy. We loved the deck off the back of the house and the slight view of the water was a plus. Last and most importantly, Susan was incredible! She responds practically instantly and is so kind. Really incredible customer service. This was hands down our best rental experience ever and we’ve had many. I’m sure I’m leaving details out, but I promise you will be happy with this house!

Perfect Family Thanksgiving Getaway!

We loved our getaway for Thanksgiving with our little family...and our fur babies! ❤️ Everything was just perfect, and we felt right at home! It was clean, and the amenities made it feel like home, and more! The location was wonderful. We felt secluded, yet close to everything, and could take a quick walk or bike ride to the beach! Just the outside area alone was a hit for our kiddos! They loved the play area and fire pit area. We cannot wait to visit again! 😍

Perfection

This house and location are Amazing! The owners have thought of everything! It is extremely clean and the pool is awesome ! The sand area is fenced in for pets and extremely safe. Our fur babies (2) labs really enjoyed the safe area to run around. We rented a golf cart for the week and had a blast roaming around the island The restaurants and shopping were extremely close by. The view of the beach and Gulf of Mexico are priceless Five star ! Love it The owner is also extremely quick in responding.

The beach house was amazing. Very clean and had everything you needed. I have stayed in many places before but this was definitely one of my favorites. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks for sharing you beautiful beach house

Going to be our annual vacation !

We had tons of fun and made unforgettable memories with my husband and our fur babies. The location was perfect ! We rented a golf car for a week and drove around. Beach was super close and house was clean ! They have more than everything we needed ! Definitely coming back :) Susan and Kenny are so quick to reply our message and we felt we were so welcomed.

We came to SGI for a family vacation in June of 2017. We were looking for a pet friendly beach so we could bring Annie and Oakley our Brittany spaniels. Funny story it was our 35th wedding anniversary and my husband forgot. So i teased him all week about giving me a beach house. It was one of the best family vacations I can remember. We all fell in love with the island and fortunately we were able to purchase a lot and build the beach house we have always dreamed of. We were scheduled to close the day Michael hit. Some very nervous hours but we were blessed and had no damage. Well built house! Thank you David Duncan! We have already made wonderful memories here and look forward to many years of enjoying our house with family and friend. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

We are located 2nd tier but have a very nice beach view, a short walk to the beach and a two block walk to the bay where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets. The bike path is at our driveway and leads into town. Walk or ride a bike to nearby restaurants or visit lighthouse park. Bring your dog and let them enjoy a day on the beach with you. Well behaved dogs are welcome at most restaurants and bars on SGI and in nearby Apalachicola.
