Charming cottage with very close access to Crooked Lake and everything else at Northern Michigan has to offer including the beach at Petoskey State Park, restaurants, and more.

Oden, MI stay

The property was just as described. The owner and his family live right next to the cottage and were very respectful of our privacy. They were in communication with us during our stay and in communication with us as needed. They responded to all our needs, concerns and gave us good advice about activities and things to do locally. The bike path was superb.

Colton Cottage

We lived here for a month and a half while our house was being remodeled. This is a cute and comfortable home. We had all that we needed. The host was very responsive to any questions we had. The location is great…right on the bike trail, within walking distance to a nice restaurant, bakery and lake . We highly recommend this rental.

Tiny House

Northern Michigan is beautiful in the summer. The house was smaller than we realized. There was not a place for the 2 of us to sit in the "living area" unless one of us sat on a hard stool. There was no couch/sofa or even comfortable chair. Seating consisted of a small futon (sits one) and tall backless stools in the kitchen. We did enjoy the bike trail behind the rental, as we are avid cyclists. Sleeping 7 is a huge stretch. The place could sleep 6 packed in... even that would be very tight.

Disappointing accommodations…

We were excited to explore the Petoskey area more and thought that this little cabin would be the perfect launching place. Upon first glance, it was cute and had been nicely decorated. However, in general it was a huge a let down. From the beginning, we were confused because there were two homes on the property which we were not aware of. The cabin is tucked behind one that looks much nicer. As we walked in it smelled a bit musty and was dim. The musty smell followed up home sadly and we had to leave things outside for multiple days. We had hoped to keep the windows open but half of the windows didn’t open and even if you could you would not want to because of how dirty the windows sills were. The cabin did not feel deeply clean. We noticed by the end of the night, our feet were dirty from walking around barefoot in the cabin. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and squeaky making it difficult for us to sleep. The linens all felt dirty and damp. When I pulled everything for check out, it all was super yellow and stained. The price we paid for what we got was quite the discrepancy. I let the owner know how disappointed we were and was told to not leave the negative review. The owner eventually just stopped responding and no reconciliation was made. For the cost of our stay, we would have been better off renting a nicer home on the water or a hotel. We love supporting owners up north but I would highly recommend you avoid this particular accommodation.

We appreciate all feedback. As hosts deeply committed to maintaining high standards across our properties, we genuinely appreciate all input to improve our guests' experiences continually. However, it's important to provide context regarding this particular review. The guest in question sent us 21 messages during their stay, and they are still sending us messages a week after they checked out. These guests expressed dissatisfaction with various aspects, including demands to remodel and change the placement of a sink and a toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom. They complained about the fact there were spiders on and around the outside patio and they asked me to have paper products delivered to them after they used the multiple rolls provided. Despite our best efforts to address their concerns and be very nice to them the guest became increasingly rude, demanding and threatening, stating they would leave a negative review if their requests weren't met. We have reported this behavior to VRBO to ensure fairness and accuracy in guest reviews. Regarding the property itself, our 100-year-old cottage maintains a rustic charm that most guests love and appreciate, complete with an endearing woodsy aroma typical of its age. It's situated on a very spacious acre lot, sharing the space with another home but with distinct, private areas for each. This is very common to the area. We encourage prospective guests to consider our extensive track record of positive reviews, reflecting our ongoing commitment to hospitality and property care. We remain dedicated to providing memorable stays for all our guests in this beloved gem of a cottage.

Excellent Spot!

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. Perfect for a family, or a girls weekend. The great location places this property just a short drive from many popular places to go, and there is plenty to do on the property that makes it fun for a night in as well. The property was very clean, had all amenities provided that we could need, and the owners were communicative and friendly. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone.
