This iconic home sits on beautiful Crooked Lake just north of Petoskey and west of Harbor Springs. You are just minutes from shopping in the Gaslight District of Petoskey or strolling the streets and shops of beautiful Harbor Springs. Historic Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, and the Mackinac Bridge are 45 minutes north.
In the summer months, you can enjoy relaxing by the lake or take a kayak, paddle board or rent a boat to go out on the water. If you own a boat, there is a private dock available.
This location is just 5-10 minutes from Lake Michigan and has quick access to local biking, hiking, and snowmobile trails. This location is also a winter haven for the snow enthusiasts, with ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating, snow shoeing, and cross country skiing. Additionally, you are just down the road from some of the best down hill skiing in the Midwest at Nubs Nob, Highlands of Harbor Springs, and a short 20 minute drive from Boyne Mountain.
Crooked Lake is connected to the Inland Water Ways which can take you to Burt Lake, Pickerel Lake, Mullet Lake, and even Lake Huron and Lake Michigan if you are up for it.
Enjoy the early morning sunrises and after a fun filled day, an evening campfire.

4th of July on Crooked Lake

It was a great trip. We got to spend time with the kids and grandkids. The house was great with the open floor plans so that we could all hang out and talk having the dock was good also to launch the boat. The Homeowners keep the house very neat and clean.

Exceptional! This cottage has everything and more. The owners were amazing with communication and the little notes to make our stay even better. If we ever come back, we will surely stay again. You made a soccer tournament weekend the best for everyone!

Great vacation spot

The house and property were exactly as advertised. Spectacularly clean and every accommodation you would hope for. We enjoyed the fire pit each night and had excellent luck fishing off the dock in the early evening. Just a couple minutes from Petoskey was the perfect location. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Getaway at the lake

Up north weekend with family was great. We traveled in April. No AC could be a challenge in the middle of summer but maybe not w the lake breeze. Property is right on 31 and there is some traffic noise but it is not off putting or excessive. Great little property and communicating with the hosts was easy and very helpful.

Beautiful Family Ski Getaway

We had a wonderful long weekend at the home on Crooked Lake. Everything was clean, beautiful, organized and perfect to house our family of 7- including two small children, two grandparents and a dog. We especially enjoyed the lake room - watching the gorgeous sunrise and active wildlife around the lake. Proximity to downtown Petoskey, as well as the ski resorts was optimal for our mixed group of skiers and non-skiers. All communication with the Hewitt's was efficient, pleasant and easy. I would definitely recommend this home -and we are hopeful to be back for future stays!

Awesome place to stay!

We plan a ski weekend with our adult kids and their spouses every year. Unfortunately we never got to the slopes because of the poor winter weather conditions in the midwest this year. HOWEVER this Lake House was a god-sen. We were able to spread out and be comfortable playing games, cooking, talking, watching Rugby on TV, and sleeping. It helped that this VBRO was the best equipped rental we have ever stayed at. I kinda wish it was summer so we could have taken advantage of the lakefront and lake. But the view was awesome. There seems to be plenty to do in town and the surrounding area. We did walk downtown Petoskey then visited a winery out side of town. No question best rental we have stayed at and would recommend it to anyone.

Annual ski trip

This property had enough room for all of us as well as a separate space for the kids to hang out. The house was very clean and stocked well with items needed.

Lovely house and location!

Had a great time at this house skiing at Nubs Nob over MLK weekend. Easy drive to the hill or into Harbor Springs or Petosky for dinner. We had snow overnight every night we were there and the house manager had us plowed out every morning before we wanted to leave. Would love to visit in the summer sometime to enjoy the lake! Will definitely plan to return.

Perfect weekend getaway

We had an amazing weekend. The properties perfectly located to enjoy Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Charlevoix. We had a great view of the lake. The house is very well taken care of and the amenities were outstanding! There was plenty of room for our family to gather. We would definitely stay there again!

Fall 2023

This was the last stop of an extended Michigan Fall trip and the house was great. The two boys, and the hubby, loved fishing the lake and I enjoyed the beautiful sunrises. Definitely the best stocked rental house anywhere!

Petoskey Lakehouse

The property was beautiful. We did not realize that the house was right on a major highway until we got the address a week before check in. However the location was ideal for traveling to all the sights we wanted to visit and we got used to the noise. Our hosts could not have been nicer. They provided us with coffee and cream and sugar and there were several spices in the cabinet. We had everything we needed. Our hosts were so thoughtful.

Perfect week

Great location, biking, water sports, golf…. This property is clearly loved by the owners and it feels like it is your private lake house rather than a “rental”. Clean, spacious and up to date. A real gem.

This property is owned by Middle Brothers LLC. We are third generation property owners consisting of the second and third sons (Clark and Steve) of William B Hewitt. William B Hewitt was the son of William F and Lois C Hewitt ( original owners). This property was bought from the Conway Lumber Company in 1936 when the mill went out of business.

Our father, William B and JoAnn Hewitt inherited the property in 1989. It is our desire to keep the property in the family and allow others to enjoy the home and picturesque scenery that we have grown to love.
