This iconic home sits on beautiful Crooked Lake just north of Petoskey and west of Harbor Springs. You are just minutes from shopping in the Gaslight District of Petoskey or strolling the streets and shops of beautiful Harbor Springs. Historic Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, and the Mackinac Bridge are 45 minutes north.
In the summer months, you can enjoy relaxing by the lake or take a kayak, paddle board or rent a boat to go out on the water. If you own a boat, there is a private dock available.
This location is just 5-10 minutes from Lake Michigan and has quick access to local biking, hiking, and snowmobile trails. This location is also a winter haven for the snow enthusiasts, with ice fishing, snowmobiling, ice skating, snow shoeing, and cross country skiing. Additionally, you are just down the road from some of the best down hill skiing in the Midwest at Nubs Nob, Highlands of Harbor Springs, and a short 20 minute drive from Boyne Mountain.
Crooked Lake is connected to the Inland Water Ways which can take you to Burt Lake, Pickerel Lake, Mullet Lake, and even Lake Huron and Lake Michigan if you are up for it.
Enjoy the early morning sunrises and after a fun filled day, an evening campfire.

Excellent Ski Weekend Hub

A great house in a great location. Very close to Nubs and Highlands for a nice ski weekend. Hosts were very kind and responsive. We also loved that it was dog friendly!

4th of July on Crooked Lake

It was a great trip. We got to spend time with the kids and grandkids. The house was great with the open floor plans so that we could all hang out and talk having the dock was good also to launch the boat. The Homeowners keep the house very neat and clean.

This was a wonderful experience here. They tire have a great place with everything you might need. The history that the home has is also a great touch. Very homey and lots to do.

Comfortable and welcoming

My boys and I made a quick trip to the area for some skiing and this home was perfect for our trip. Close to ski resorts, easy to find, close to restaurants and grocery stores. The home was clean and well laid out for our group. Would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional! This cottage has everything and more. The owners were amazing with communication and the little notes to make our stay even better. If we ever come back, we will surely stay again. You made a soccer tournament weekend the best for everyone!

Perfect week

Great location, biking, water sports, golf…. This property is clearly loved by the owners and it feels like it is your private lake house rather than a “rental”. Clean, spacious and up to date. A real gem.

Fall 2023

This was the last stop of an extended Michigan Fall trip and the house was great. The two boys, and the hubby, loved fishing the lake and I enjoyed the beautiful sunrises. Definitely the best stocked rental house anywhere!

Living the good life

We had an amazing stay. The house set up was perfect for our needs. We stayed with 8 adults and 3 children. The property was clean and well stocked. Used the included crockpot’s for lots of our meals. The lake water was so clean and clear. Great swimming area for the kids. The kayaks and paddle boards were a big hit for our young adults. Will book again for family vacation.

Getaway at the lake

Up north weekend with family was great. We traveled in April. No AC could be a challenge in the middle of summer but maybe not w the lake breeze. Property is right on 31 and there is some traffic noise but it is not off putting or excessive. Great little property and communicating with the hosts was easy and very helpful.

This property is owned by Middle Brothers LLC. We are third generation property owners consisting of the second and third sons (Clark and Steve) of William B Hewitt. William B Hewitt was the son of William F and Lois C Hewitt ( original owners). This property was bought from the Conway Lumber Company in 1936 when the mill went out of business.

This property has been in the family since the Conway Lumber Company sold this property to our grandparents, William and Lois Hewitt in 1936. Our father, William B and JoAnn Hewitt inherited the property in 1989. It is our desire to keep the property in the family and allow others to enjoy the home and picturesque scenery that we have grown to love.
